We hadn't visited this restaurant in quite some time, so we decided to have lunch here today. I chose the Lamb Gyro Platter, while my mother opted for the meatloaf. While my gyro was okay my mother's lunch was really good. I'm inclined to return solely for the meatloaf, as it was very flavorful and enough for two or three smaller meals.

Sometimes in life, you're just craving simple, comforting American cuisine--and I was so grateful to find a diner that delivered exactly that. It didn't have a jukebox, but everything else transported me right back to the diners I used to visit with my parents. Food: 5/5 Let's be clear--this isn't Michelin-star food, and it's not trying to be. It's classic diner fare, which means it's hearty, familiar, and affordable. I finally satisfied my long-time craving for meatloaf and mashed potatoes--and yes, it hit the spot.My husband went with a cheeseburger and fries, because sometimes, that's all you really want. Both were delicious and perfectly seasoned for what they are. Service: 5/5 You don't come to a diner expecting fine dining service, but you do expect efficiency and kindness--and that's exactly what we got. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our food came out promptly and hot. They accept credit cards, which was a nice plus (but I'd be happy to pay cash too--it's that kind of place). Value: It's rare nowadays to go out and spend just over $120 (after tip) for two entrées, appetizer, and dessert, but that's exactly what we did here--and we left full and satisfied. Final Thoughts: If you're craving no-fuss fries, a hearty plate, and nostalgic diner vibes, this place is 100% worth the visit. I'd gladly go back the next time I need a little comfort food and a break from trendier (and pricier) spots.

First time here! I'm a big fan of diners so it's always nice to try one you've never been to! I loved how not busy it was on a Sunday and the decor! I came for brunch time and the service was good. I personally wasn't a fan of the French toast and my bf didn't really like that his burger was cooked WELL DONE when he asked for MEDIUM. I usually would ask for food to be fixed but he didn't want to wait again. Hopefully next time I come I won't be let down by the food and tryout some new dishes!

I will start off by saying growing up in the neighborhood I would frequent this establishment with my family on the weekends. Whether it was a Sunday or a late night burger deluxe, I always seemed to enjoy it. Over the years they have gone through many changes as many of the surviving restaurants after Covid have. I really hate to give them this rating because I love the culture they have built and the longevity of their reign on this E. Tremont corner property. Serving families for generations. The service has always been fast and efficient, what you would want from a diner. My biggest issue is that the prices really don't match the quality of the food. The portions have gotten smaller and smaller and the prices have gone up. I do understand that wholesale items have gone up over the years but if I'm paying premium prices for dishes, I expect quality and if not that then at least quantity. The excuse of prices have gone up just really doesn't apply here because most of the items are frozen and mass produced. I am in the industry and while I can see prices have gone up, it is not at the scale that their prices reflect. I really don't see the value. I have noticed that they have built a strong online presence and have great marketing tactics to bring in customers which is great and moving with the times but now I feel the marketing needs to focus on appropriately pricing these items and possibly condensing the amount of food they offer. Or if they don't want to change the pricing at least consider the classic oversized portions of an old school diner. Besides the prices being high, they will nickel and dime you if you ask for a side of sauce. It's just off-putting when the prices are already questionable with the food quality. I love the corner property they reside at and I love the layout of the place. It's giving diner all around. If they have a prime location and great service-- they can fix up the food program and be elite. The history and service saved this from being a 2 star. I wish them the best!

So a friend of mine, whom I've worked with many moons ago, who is now a full Content creator. She teamed up with Crosstown Diner to have a giveaway on Instagram and I took my chance and I was one of the five winners how cool is that :) I was sent a $100 gift card in the mail and I gathered my family and we all headed out there. When we arrived, we got seated immediately. It is a nice diner set up, clean with big screen TVs on the wall. We got our menus and I must say that it is overwhelming because there's so much to choose from but we finally narrowed it down. I ordered their Philly cheesesteak with Onion Rings with the Spiked Peanut Butter Chocolate Milkshake, which was so so good .Hubby ordered the Pastrami Sandwich with Fries our son ordered the Frankenstein Burger, which was massive, and our friend ordered the Fried Chicken and Fries. When we finally got served our food, it was piping hot how we like it and everything was delicious. Our waiter was really nice and attentive as well. Everyone except me carried home leftovers lol. I highly recommend and I do intend on going back before the summer is up. It would be great if you guys can branch off into the Manhattan or BROOKLYN area. Keep that in mind. Cheers :)

I had the pleasure of visiting the Crosstown Diner, with two friends, for their new Brunch Board. We were completely overwhelmed, in a good way, with the amount of food that was served. There was pancakes, French toast, waffles and Nutella blueberries and strawberries. It was an incredible selection of food fit for a king. Our server Steven was great, very attentive and knew everything about Crosstown's menu. We will definitely be back!

To begin, I've ordered from here loads of times over the past 7 years I've lived in NYC, and I've especially bought the apple crumb pie several times before today. Never did I bother to look for mold because I have a lot of trust in most restaurants. I ate most of the pie and a piece fell over and there it was, the fuzziest mold I've ever seen on a piece of food. I am absolutely disgusted. Never have I had this issue before and thinking about how much of their desserts I've consumed before today, makes me ill just thinking about it. I called after I saw it to warn them not to sell it, and the person on the phone was quick to rush me off. It's like he didn't care at all. Not even an apology. He just said he'd look into it. If I get sick from having ate this when I have work tomorrow and absolutely cannot call out, I will be even more outraged than I already am.

After I finished running the Mile Style Bronx Marathon, I was taken back by the food prepared for us at the finish line. 4 is too high, but 3 is too low. The general consensus of 3.5 stars is accurate. I didn't get pictures sadly. Simple get: the bacon cheeseburger. Much better than most Bacon Cheeseburgers, actually the meat, bacon, pepperjack cheese, lettuce and tomatoes created a tasty burger that I didn't need to smother it with condiments. That's a compliment! Their menu is HUGE!! It would take dozens of trips to attempt to try everything. For an establishment that's been a part of the Bronx since 1935, I'm proud I was able to visit this place! And the side of gravy for my fries?? Who needs ketchup??!! Great touch! read more

Food is awful! I went here for breakfast and it was so bland. And they charge extra for everything. And it's not even worth it. They need to change the cook. Also, after eating I felt sick to my stomach. I hate to say it but IHOP tastes better even if the eggs are not real. Also, it looks unsanitary. read more

The diner is falling off a bit too much. I ordered a steak and eggs with a side salad instead of fries. They charged $29.40 which is more than a nice restaurant would charge, and the side salad had a fly in it. Really just falling off. I hope that they improve again. read more

I went today for breakfast and it was a big disappointment. Walk in and inside felt hot, they probably trying to save money on AC. Breakfast burrito came on the plate, wrapped in paper, like it should be if you order "to go" - strange. I've never had a breakfast burrito with American cheese, not a good combo. i could not even finish it. waiter asked me if I want my coffee refill but forgo. I don't think I will be back, too bad, location is convenient for me. read more

My family and I have been coming to Crosstown Diner for years, it's a nice diner near the area and we love eating here. Their outdoor seating is comfortable and they decorated really nicely as well. The waiter who attends us often is super friendly and helpful as well. My favorite items on their menu are the Grilled chicken Mexican panini and the Pasta Bella! The fries are so good and crunchy when they come out fresh from the kitchen as well. And you can never go wrong with their Belgian Waffles. read more

A Big Fat No I have had negative experiences at the Crosstown Diner in the past, but I thought I would give them another try. I went in on a weekday, Thursday at about 4pm. Ordered 2 eggs, rye toast, home fries and coffee. The waiter was very nice, polite and friendly. T The rye toast, was fine, until you picked it up and looked at the other side. It was burnt black. They were sneaky placing the burnt side down. It's strange because my last negative meal at Crosstown had the exact same situation with the toast...burnt and burnt side down!!!! The home fries were cold. Not even a little bit warm. Mind you, the place was practically empty. Maybe another couple in the whole place. So, why can't you get a simple order correct. Don't burn the toast! Get the home fries to the customer hot. It was an absolute waste of money. The coffee, they got right. It was good and hot. What a disappointing meal I feel like I threw my money away. Next time, I'll stick with East Tremont Diner. I'm giving up on Crosstown. read more

I asked for chicken nachos with no jalapeños because i'm allergic to jalapeños. They also gave me chili instead of chicken. So i said something, she said they would have to charge me. I think that's ridiculous because i'm allergic to it. My peer sitting across from me heard no jalapeños and chicken. So I talk to another server and he completely understood my situation. So who I believe was the manager comes out and tries to blame me and states "why did you order the nachos knowing they had jalapeños" as if I didn't say no jalapeños. I was very respectful and understanding because I know how hard serving is. But this was a not great dining experience. If you chose to come here make sure you annunciate your words. Came out to celebrate Mother's Day with my family. I expected the wait. They sat us outside, they didn't wipe our tables down we had to ask for utensils and napkins 7 times in which they brought dirty utensils. They finally came to take our order 30 min later. No drinks(not even water) were brought to us, appetizers came out 40 min later food took 1hr. The managers and the staff were inattentive. read more

This place is a joke NEVER order from them. The delivery service sucks no matter what time you order. It always takes over an hour from the time you place your call to the time you actually get your food. Best part is there's always at least 3 drivers. NEVER order milkshakes either they can't even get that right the milkshake comes in a small plastic cup and then it's about a quarter of the cup is milk and filled to the top with foam not to mention the shake is $6+ Best part is when you call to complain (which I've done every time I ordered from them) you get a random person claiming to be a manager and then debates with you on why your order is wrong and who took the order (what a joke) then give you an attitude on top of horrible service garbage milkshakes and let's not forget this place charges top dollar for mediocre at best quality of food. I will never order from them again and will make sure none of my friends and family don't waste their money in a place like this read more

I'm not one to really take time to write reviews; however, at this point there's a public obligation to do so. I seem to always end up at this diner because it always satisfies whatever you're in the mood for even when you're not sure what you're in the mood for. Their menu has it covered. In the Bronx you say we're going to The Stadium you know you're going to be on 161st street and Jerome ave with the Yankees. You say we're going to the diner you know you're going to be on Bruckner Blvd and Revere ave with family, it's simple. When my family from California comes in the first stop after JFK is of course the dinner. For a 24 hour organization the integrity is never lost. I tend to get the New York omelette and tell them how I want it and it's done. The Wings Gone Wild is a 24 hour sure hit as well. The Salmon as well as the burgers are terrific all around. We're not going to discuss how great the deserts are, my wife loves all of the chocolate anything from here, I asked her which one she wanted and she said any one they're all yummy. I no longer live on that side of the Bronx but the other day my wife said "I want a big ol cheeseburger with onion rings!" I knew during these unsure times there's one sure place to go, Crosstown Diner. The manager greeted me in the parking lot, always a pleasure to speak to and the staff was energetic and we spoke as well. Every Diner Should be this Clean. The Cross Town Diner is a clean, friendly, affordable diner in the heart of Throggs Neck, NY. When you want consistently good diner food, when you want no surprises, when you expect your breakfast to come with the works, go to The Cross Town. Off hours are great, but watch for a mad rush for breakfast at 11 am on Saturday or Friday nights the parking at the Cross Town can be tough. If playing parking hockey is not your thing, the Cross Town has the greatest delivery system in town. They are one of the few full menu restaurants that deliver as early as 9 am and will not raise an eyebrow if your order is chicken fried steak or meatloaf and mashed potatoes at this hour. This morning I decided to order from this establishment for the first time after seeing it was 1 of few places near me. My breakfast consisted of 2 jumbo fresh-baked cookies (M&M cookie + Black & White cookie) for $2.99 each, buttermilk pancakes (3 total) for $7.99, two eggs on a roll for $3.99, and orange juice for $3.99. The subtotal was $21.95 but changed to $23.90 after the $1.95 tax was added. I tipped the delivery person $3.00+ because I thought it was the decent thing to do. :) My only issue were the cookies. The M&M cookie tasted nasty, stale or maybe just the flavor and I assume the other cookie will taste the same. My fingers are crossed that I will be wrong. Lol. I decided to order dinner since my breakfast was successful minus the dessert (cookie(s). I decided to get the Bacon and Cheese Chicken Grilled Sandwich for $12.99 along with the orange juice for $3.99. Ordered a chicken Philly cheese steak sandwich. The sandwich was so bad, I'll start with the bread. The bread was tough. I had to really tear at it to rip it apart. It was like biting a piece of cloth and trying to rip it with your teeth. The cheese and chicken was flavorless. The texture was like a piece of leather. We also ordered chicken bacon avocado wrap. Key word wrap. Who ever made it obviously didn't know how to wrap it. There was just a few pieces of chicken and the filled the wrap with lettuce and tomato!!! My family and I have been dining at the crosstown for several years now. I have become familiar with the employees along with the owners Billy and Peter. Every time we eat there, the food is always delicious and tasty. We start by sharing some appetizers (try the spicy gyro Greek fries). The last time I ordered the chicken franciase as my entree. I have to admit the sauce it was prepared in was better than most other Italian eateries in or around the area. It also came w a choice of two vegetable sides and soup/salad...and all for less than $20...can't beat that!! I do not understand the complaints. I have been going to Crosstown my entire life and they have the BEST burgers this side of heaven and earth. I am always pleased with their food, never have had a problem, hold my business meetings there and would not think of going anywhere else to get a cheeseburger. The BEST pickles in the world are at Crosstown Diner and they always give me extra when I ask for them. Billy is a gracious host and always there with a warm hello. I love the Crosstown Diner. So diners are good spot for comfort food but truthfully some of the dishes I had at Crosstown the food was like a 4 star restaurant quality. I had there Penne all'a vodka one time and I could swear It came from Antonio's on Arthur Ave. It was that delicious There Papou's cheese cake is as good as S n W the famous spot outside Riverdale. The owners father n son always smiling and greet u so u feel ur walking into a 4 star restaurant. There Burgers are tasty juicy and ginormous. I would give this diner a zero rating for there unprofessional service, first the waitress was not pleasant, didn't bring the silverware to the table, I ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was dry no flavor, the bake potato was cold and also very dry . When I spoke with the waitress about the food being cold , she totally dismissed me and said she couldn't do anything and would get the manager He also was rude and dismissive! I've ordered quite a few different dishes ranging from breakfast to lunch to dinner, and it is always delicious! The food is always fresh and comes super fast. I can't say enough good things about the Crosstown Diner's catering services. I was put in charge of planning a charity event and needed to provide breakfast for thirty people. They were able to provide me with amazing food within my budget. I was expecting only food to be provided, but the service went above and beyond. I was given plates, silverware, condiments, EVERYTHING I could have wanted. Throughout the event people kept asking where the food was from so they could use their services in the future. Me And my husband live very close to the diner, we sometimes went there for a quick breakfast, but most of the time we order for delivery, the food get to us always cold, late and the delivery guys refused to come at my door! What kind of service is this? If you ever try to call who ever answers the phone is extremely rude, it seems like the hire them like this on purpose! It seriously needs to change something! Worst food ever. I ordered the southern fried chicken plate. Chicken, that wasn't even full pieces I'm pretty sure it was also the back of the chicken, it tasted sweet and like it's been sitting out all day and fried in old oil.
