Jim Willard is a thief.
Though I, fortunately, am not a customer of Jim Willard, I want to ensure anyone who considers being one knows a few things about the owner of the establishment.
I work for a small restaurant, who, on occasion, delivers to his business, Crossroads Travel. The majority of his staff is quite nice, and they will give the illusion of your business going to any kind of stable individual.
((Monday, July 6th, 2015)) We, as in the company I work for, have a policy of not accepting checks from anyone, it was implemented by the owner several years ago. Each and every time we are forced to deliver to this very very unstable individual, he tells us that he will pay for his order by cash, and then, on delivery, promptly refuses to pay by any method but check.
I expected the usual and was treated to such: "Well, you are going to accept my check, we spend $10k a month in fuel with your boss every month" (I'd like to point out our establishment makes less than that through all of our sales, and he does not purchase anything but food from us, but he consistently uses this excuse to coerce inexperienced drivers into taking the check and getting reprimanded by our management later). I took the check back to my store, so that my manager could contact them and inform them of the same thing we inform them of every time they order. I remained excessively kind and polite about it, and even did the leg-work I knew was pointless.
Back at my store, my manager spoke with the nice young woman that works his front office and she apologized, and asked that I bring the check back, and then she would call with credit card numbers. We excitedly agreed and I headed back.
Upon my re arrival I was met with the usual unstable, belligerent behavior of Jim Willard: As I expected, I got his usual profanity and hateful behavior for something we tell him once, to twice a month.
I turn the corner and he tells me to "sit the fuck down". He points to a phone on the table, where he, and his employees were eating the food I had brought earlier, and says "sit the fuck down, we're going to wait on your owner to call me". I sat down, pacing myself. I let him know, "Well, it's really hard for the owner to directly contact you as he manages multiple stores, and is very busy. Plus, I have other deliveries that I have to take out, so I'm just here to drop off your check and ensure you contact my manager to communicate alternate payment".
Jim responded with an absolutely appropriate "get the fuck out of my store, fuck you". I told him he wasn't to speak to me that way and that I would not stand to be treated that way.
At this point, Mr Willard pulls the check off the table and say "Get the FUCK out of my store and off my property". He then stands up and tries to be as threatening as a little old man having an anger fit can and tries to strong-arm me out of the building. As I head for the front office, I turn and asked him "You have not paid for the pizza and are refusing to pay for it?" his only response was another "fuck you".
A few more pushes later on his part and I was in the front office. I turned one last time to say that "This is theft, and assault, I will be calling the police from your parking lot". His only words to me at this point were repeated uses of "fuck you" and a few grabs of my shirt to try to maneuver me out of his building as I was trying to collect payment for the food he was shoving down his angry little gullet.
I drove about a block away and called the police. Half an hour later they met me at our store. After the appropriate legwork by the officer, I was told that all his employees lied about the situation completely and refused to turn over security footage. Because I'm the only one to have seen his behavior, I cannot pursue assault any further. And my manager is too afraid of retaliation to pursue the theft, and has dropped charges.
I just want to ensure everyone who may do business with Jim Willard knows: He has anger problems, he has stolen from a local business, and he has lied to police.
