Clearly, this team of leaders wants to provide a high-quality, Christ-centered worship experience. The music was great. The vibe was casual. The preaching was solid. My 4 kids enjoyed the children's activities. My only slight critique would be that as first timers, I was unclear what to do and where to go at first. I have been around church enough to figure it out, but even as a church guy I was a bit out of sorts. There are a lot of young families, which was nice to see. The pastor seemed quite gifted and humble. He simply tried to teach the bible helping us to understand context and make it understandable. Overall, I recommend this church to people who aren't connected in a church and want a non-churchy feel.

I visited the church office recently to ask for assistance with an issue I was working on in the…read morecommunity. The front office staff were very friendly, helpful, and offered suggestions and solutions for me to consider. Somehow the issue of parking in Boone came up in our conversation. We talked briefly about their parking lot on the corner of King and College streets and how difficult it must be to mange that area with so many tourists and students seeking parking during the church activities throughout the week. Thankfully I was able to park in their lot while I was seeking assistance, and staff offered suggestions for other free and pay parking alternatives in Boone. First impressions are important, and these folks were great to work with when I needed help and information.

I parked there for 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon to get physical therapy at health services and got towed. In just 30 minutes with hardly anyone there! I can't even get a campus parking pass since I have no classes on main campus so where am I supposed to park?? I guess this "morally upstanding" organization has nothing better to do than tow students cars who are trying to use health services at their university...

A good church, I say…read more I attended a Sunday-morning service at Perkinsville Baptist while visiting the area, and it was a positive experience in every way, from the uplifting music and polished production, to the friendly, helpful staff, to the handsome architecture itself. And, though all this was nice, what I liked most was the substance beneath the ceremony; namely, in the pastor's message, which, in my view, contained some valuable, practical truths. In the end, I came away feeling spiritually nourished, and for that I am grateful. So: a word of thanks to everybody at Perkinsville, for your work and service.

No one there was willing to lift a finger to help me. They start every service doing a group read of a statement beginning with, "Love is our doctrine..." So where's the love? It's in their words, but not in their actions. Don't expect the kind of support you would get from a church here. It's a closed group of aging seniors who do not practice what they preach.

We value diversity, equality, independence of thought, and a progressive approach. Like mainstream churches, we know how important it is to be a family of support to our members. We don't tell anyone what to believe, though. Instead we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and commit to acting in ways that express that. We are a small but growing congregation, with about 80 members. We have lots of kids and a strong religious education program. We are mostly lay-led, with a wonderfully effervescent ministry consultant who helps identify our needs and directions and presents some Sunday mornings.
