It didn't just look good, I could literally see him taking the time to understand the natural grain of my hair- and it turns out I've been parting it to the wrong side my entire life. For 3 decades, no barber had ever taken the time to do that. Not to mention, he's an all round great guy and a joy to be around. He's working stiff like me; just trying to get his own new enterprise off the ground, and support his family by depending on quality service and the exceptional application of his trade (something he has talked to me at length about caring a great deal about- has tremendous pride in his craft and is always striving to grow). I think it's reasonable for there to be a place for the best product or service in any market- and as far as I can tell, Viy gives the best haircut cuts around. People are who have gone their whole lives spending $10-15 for a cut may not "get it." Thats fine, there will always be a super cutz for you out there. But at vVs you get what you pay for and then some- I only make it in about quarterly because the cuts look good for so long!

I've never been particularly comfortable at barbers, and usually just made vague requests like "shorter in the front". That was what I first said to V as well, but unlike previous barbers, he didn't just shrug and do a minor trim. Instead, he kept me at ease and engaged with me while working until, ultimately, I had a real haircut. I really appreciate the energy and care he puts into his craft. It goes without saying that I'm now getting the best haircuts I've ever had.

Everything seemed fine until the owner (bald, gray beard) stepped in and started criticizing Coby's work. Without asking me a single question about what I wanted, he began shaving my hair himself. I never spoke to this man about my haircut, and he never bothered to ask. The result was a completely different haircut than what I requested. When I expressed my frustration afterward, Coby was very understanding but essentially said, "He's the boss." I honestly don't understand how a barbershop can operate like this. I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this place. Coby seems like a talented barber -- he deserves to work somewhere that respects both him and the client.

I was under the impression the appointment was with Alex, the owner, but after he sat me down in his chair and we spent a few minutes discussing my haircut and reviewing pictures of how I style my hair (which I told him I am very particular about) he told me that my appointment was actually with someone else, Herman. I was surprised by this and expressed concern as to whether Herman could give me the cut we spent several minutes discussing. I was assured that "we're all barbers". That should have been the first red flag. Herman and I were not able to communicate so Alex briefly told him some of what we discussed. I also showed Herman the picture. The haircut I received looked nothing like the picture, is uneven, faded poorly, is so short and choppy I can't style as in the picture I showed, and it needs to be fixed. The quality of service at this show is so poor I could feel how dull the scissors were during the cut. The scissors were consistently pulling my hair, rather than cutting. I did not receive the skin fade I asked for even after i was double checked that he knew I wanted a skin fade (he initially only gave me a taper). I was visibly upset with the process but decided not to make a scene in the shop and to wait until I got home to call and speak with Alex. When I called right after getting home and seeing how bad the cut was, he blew off my concerns, said he thought it was a "great cut" and then told me I could make another $45 haircut appointment to have it fixed - but I would have to wait until Tuesday, at the earliest. I was expecting him to tell me to come in after his last cut of the day, but I guess Alex has better things to do than make things right with his (former) customers. He did tell me to wait by the phone incase someone cancels - great customer service! I'll be getting this terrible haircut fixed elsewhere. Save your $45 dollars - a lawnmower can do better.

Alex gave me one of the worst haircuts I have ever had. If you have long hair, Alex can't cut it. Alex made no attempt to 'wash' the gel/ hairspray out of my hair. How are you supposed to cut hair that is 'gelled up? That should have been my first clue that this was going to be bad. Both my sides are completely different. One ear actually has a sort of crappy blend. On the other side, my ear is carved out like a shelf and half-hidden still. And the back is uneven, uneven isn't even the way to describe it; it is horrible. Seriously, how is this guy in business? It is embarrassing how bad of a haircut I received.
