I ended up in Nimbin late at night needed to find somewhere to stay. I searched the internet and found The Croftin Retreat and called to book a room. The gentleman on the phone gave me the directions on how to get there. I drove out of town and turned onto Crofton Road and followed it until I found the Crofton Retreat sign as instructed by the gentleman on the phone. I then turned right up a dark gravel road I started to get concerned that I will never be seen again. Thoughts of the Wolf Creek movie were racing through my mind. A lot of good that movie done for Australian tourism. I followed the gravel track to the end and that's when I realised I have reached my destination. The gentleman who I spoke to on the phone greeted me with his dog as I disembarked from my vehicle. He said his name was Wayne and his dogs name is Bear. He showed me to my room and left me be. The room was spacious and well set out. The bed was immaculately made and it was comfortable. I really liked the natural sawn log kitchenette. It was only in the morning when I woke up and went outside I noticed the true beauty of this place. It is located half way up a hill overlooking green paddocks and trees. I could easily relax here for another week but I have plans to keep.
Just a tip for those who want to stay here, the internet or mobile service with virgin phones does not receive reception from inside the room. I had to walk out into the open to receive reception. There was not a problem with Telstra mobile gaining reception from the room.
Four stars from me. read more
