This was the night before my appointment and Blackman Grove. It was just me at home, living in the middle of nowhere, with a dead car battery and no way to jump it. I called to get the appointment rescheduled, but was told it'd be $75 to do so. Fine. Thanks, daughter. I get it. 2. Finally get a new bridge (not sure if that was what the other appointment was for, but man, it was expensive, even with insurance.) However...a hygenist puts the bridge on and shapes it way too short. The dentist didn't even do anything. I was told she doesn't like doing those or fillings. I was also told that if I didn't like it, they could send it to a lab, but it'd cost MORE. Now, that side of my smile...the teeth are way shorter than the other side.‍ To my main point and complaint: found a new dentist where I'm located. They did X-rays and told me that all of my crowns from Blackman Grove are garbage. You can see them in the X-rays...they're not even cemented down well. I paid thousands...THOUSANDS...and now need to get them redone because my mouth aches. I loved this dentist...BEFORE they hired new people and completely redid the place (and started adding Botox to their services.)

Usually they are not open on Fridays, so I was lucky on both appointments. The first thing I noticed about was how friendly they were on the phone. When I arrived early in the morning, the three women behind the desk were already having a Jovial conversation about the possibility of a therapy animal in the office. They texted the paperwork to me. When I was done, I had my teeth examined and cleaned. It was a prompt and relaxed visit. I am going next week for a consultation for some cosmetic dentistry. It feels good to be around people who are happy where they work.

Here's my issue, my husband was going to have some teeth pulled and eventually a denture put in. Projected estimates for what we were getting was going to be between $7-10 thousand dollars. So that is a lot of money but they said it would be spread out over around 6 months so it wouldn't be due all at once. Luckily we have the money in savings but it's still a huge chunk. I decided to use a partial check/partial credit card payment so as not deplete our savings all at once. I wanted to save where I could so I called about 2-3 weeks before my husband's scheduled procedure to see how much we would need up front. While on the call (with the billing lady) I asked tons of billing and procedural questions. I don't like surprises when dealing with this about of money. In our about 10 min conversation she didn't once say that there was a charge for using credit cards. In all the billing questions I asked her, she didn't feel the need to say "hey, there's a 3% charge if you use a card". 3% on a several thousand dollars is an extra couple hundred! So we get there the day of the surgery and still nothing was said when we checked in. Not until after my husband come out with bandaged mouth and we're checking out, did she say "oh, there's a 3% charge on cards". When our hands are tied!!! After I have been sitting in the lobby for an hour when I could have spent that time get a cashiers check or something if I had known. I'm in utter shock and I said to her "I called you to ask you beforehand so I would have no surprises like this" I was angry! She goes on this spill about how they haven't raised their prices in 3 years and they don't charge it the credit card company does. None of which was my issue. THE ISSUE was, when I was asking all those billing questions weeks before or even when we came in NOTHING WAS SAID! like... "hey this bill that is several thousand dollars is going to be a couple hundred more because you are using a card" I mean wtf! That should be told when you are making the appointment or on their website or something. So in conclusion I was charged $100 extra last min when I could have made arrangements and saved myself that money, had this not been dropped in my lap last minute. I literally could have filled my car up 2.5 times with that money. I'm still mad about it because I made the effort to call in advance to make sure stuff like this was avoided. I can say though that the doctor was outstanding! His work on my husband was impeccable. He took great care with my husband and had it not been for the billing debacle that cost me extra, I would have easily given 10 stars if I were able because the doctor was so great. P.s. billing lady if you are reading this, DO BETTER!

I have really bad dental anxiety and can say I finally found a dentist office that I actually love!…read more I recently moved to Columbia and found them online when I searched for best dentists in Columbia. I had my first visit recently and was immediately shocked at how nice ALL of the staff were. My hygienist was Erica and she was so sweet. I have a horrible gag reflex and she was incredibly patient. Their office is super high tech and they took some fancy scans of my teeth which was super cool! She really took the time to get to know me and see what I expected or needed from my visit! Dr Clayton was the same way! So incredibly kind!!! I recently went in for a crown and a filling. I was so nervous, but Dr Clayton and the tech were so kind and helpful in getting me through the experience! They gave me a stress ball and head phones to listen to my own music and let me take breaks every now and then. They truly care about their patients!!

After consulting the dentist at Columbia Dental Group, she said she could fix the crown for just $350, because I don't have dental insurance. She fixed the crown about 10 days ago and I haven't had any trouble. Everyone was very professional and friendly.
