As far as food courts at captive attractions (Zoos, Theme Parks, Etc) go, this one at the Australia Zoo takes the cake. It has great food, at great prices. There were plenty of options, the prices were what I'd expect to pay in the suburbs (no price gouging here!) and the Aussie Burger I ordered was delicious.
I was supposed that they actually serve food on china plates, as opposed to using the typical disposables. It fits with the environmentally friendly aim of the Zoo, and makes the experience much classier, as well.
There's a number of different kiosks, all of which seem to charge around $10-15 per item or combo. There's a good variety: burgers, sushi, pizza, sandwiches, ice cream, fried take-away, and coffee. The down side with this is that each kiosk has a seperate line. Our wait was not too bad, however, since the food court is located next to the Crocoseum where the big croc show happens at 12:00, lines could be a real issue if you show up hungry at the wrong time. read more
