After almost getting screwed by my current lender on a refi, Sara Bueno and Crest Mortgage came to the rescue! I originally started the refi process with my current lender at the time. After, the numbers came back I thought there was a better deal out there. So I searched around and Sara reached out. She was very thorough explaining the details of the loan and answered every question. She was able to give me a better loan, So I decided to go with Sara from Crest Mortgage. This is where the fun began (sarcasm)! So I'm working with Sara through the process, we needed one final piece of the puzzle, the appraisal. Since I started the original process with another lender, they set up an appraisal but I paid for it upfront. Well, the other lender gave us a hard time transferring the appraisal. They got butt hurt because I decided to go with a different lender and didn't want to play ball, so they gave us the run around. Sara and Leanne went to bat! Through countless phone calls and emails to the other lender and appraisal company, they were able to get the appraisal transferred and closed the loan! This set us back a couple weeks which carried over into a scheduled family vacation. However, Sara made sure she got the loan finalized and closed so we didn't have to cancel our vacation! After attempting to refinance my existing mortgage with some of the "name" companies (rhymes with Chicken)? I decided to give Crest Mortgage a try, and am exceedingly grateful that I did. Crest Mortgage immediately gave me a sense of optimism that we could get the loan done, whereas the name companies seemed to only see me as a formula consisting of a credit score and the amount of equity in my house. My first contact was with Sean, who stayed on the account throughout the process, taking care of paperwork and behind the scenes tasks. My main point of contact was my Loan Officer Lisa Hillis, who defines the words professionalism, communication and thoroughness. From day one on, Lisa would call or text me to walk me through the next steps. She was patient and understanding when I asked clarifying questions, and I felt no pressure or "hard sell" at all. There were some sticky points with my current lender (Wells Fargo) regarding a 2nd mortgage/HELOC and subordination that through Lisa's expertise, she was able to work out. Long story short, I reduced my interest rate by THREE points, was able to skip a mortgage payment, (which paid for our summer vacation) and am saving $635 a month compared to my previous mortgage. Not to mention, I was able to cut the shackles with Wells Fargo, which has been in the news quite a bit lately for it's shady sales practices, fraud, and mistreatment of its employees. The plan is to work with the existing loan for a time and then revisit in a year or two and see if I can save even more. The current mortgage company is Flagstar Bank, who so far seems to be a great company that is easy to work and communicate with. They may, in other respects be a decent company, but I have not inquired about a mortgage in over two years--when I did, I made the mistake about giving my phone number. Over the past six months my mother and I have been working on a major home refinance with Rick Momsen at Crest Mortgage as the Mortgage Advisor. He has overseen every aspect of this huge undertaking. Neither my mother nor I are terribly experienced in the process of working out loan application paperwork (Well, I myself, anyway, had next-to-no previous experience) and Rick, who is about the more personable, calmest, and more reasonable guy you'll meet (particularly in the context of doing a loan!), made the entire process clear and do-able. Don't get me wrong, there were difficult moments, but none of them had to do with Rick or Crest Mortgage. Quite the contrary, Rick and Crest made what would have been far more complicated and challenging relatively easy, despite the difficulties. Heather Dubois, also on the Crest team, was also extremely helpful, good spirited, and organized. Also, Rick and Heather have lightening fast communication speeds. I'd send an email to one of them and get a message back sometimes within a minute, no joke. I don't want people to get the idea that it's cool to be calling Rick on the weekends, but I must add that there were a few times where we did and he welcomed it. I really don't know what better job they could have done. We'll be returning to Crest, Rick and Heather's great work, no question about it. Grade: A+. read more
