It's been a month and I'm still waiting on a response (that I know will never come), once they decide they are "done" with you, they could care less about what happens. I used to see Dr. Beskina for about two years. She is an ok doctor, I wouldn't say she's friendly or personable. Our monthly appointments were always very short, she'd just ask how I was doing on the medication, our conversations probably lasted 7 minutes tops. Also, it was common that she was very late to our appointments or wouldn't call at the scheduled time which was difficult because a lot of the times I was at work and scheduled my appointment for a certain time because I would be free, then she'd call later on. I'd say the office is fairly easy to schedule with, they do most of the communications via email. However, they don't automatically charge the card on file for your visits which is annoying, so every time you have a session you have to pay using a link that's texted to you. I'd rather just have the card on file charged. Sometimes if Dr. Beskina was out I would see another female doctor named Alex who I really liked working with. She was friendly and seemed to actually care, however didn't accept my insurance and was only covering for Dr. Beskina so I couldn't change doctors. I remember Dr. Beskina also questioned my level of depression a few times, kind of downplaying it saying that if I had depression I would always feel sad, even when I was busy and distracted with other life things, which I disagree with. I never felt like I connected with this doctor, she isn't a warm person, and didn't really make me feel like she cared. I stopped seeing her a couple months ago. She also prescribed me 30 mg of Lexapro for anxiety, which is a dosage that is unheard of by every doctor I've ever mentioned it to, the highest dosage is 20 mg, so I'd take a pill and a half which all my other doctors (gp, obgyn) always questioned. However, it worked for me for a long time. Overall, I'd say my experience wasn't terrible but I wouldn't really recommend this doctor. read more

2 appointments constitute an initial consult. Okay thats fine with me, I spoke with a social worker and explained why I was looking for treatment. Dr was late 45 to my initial consult appointment via zoom and did not apologize or even acknowledge she was late. 10 minutes in I called the office to let them know if she's busy we can reschedule and they told me no just wait she'll be on in a few minutes so I waited. Dr let me know that because of something I mentioned during my first visit, they could not help me and instead would refer me to somewhere else. It took 2 appointments for them to say they have no experience or deal with this certain area? I can understand that but to string me along for another appointment and have me wait 45 extra minutes for that is extremely unprofessional. read more

So they're virtual only for Covid... fine. Without insurance it's $150 for the initial therapist eval. Its $200 for the psychiatrist eval. And $150 for any follow up. Ok whatever psychiatry is expensive I get it. But I had a fifteen minute zoom meeting with a nurse practitioner who then told me it'd be better for me to be seen in person. Go to the hospital. So $200 for you to tell me you won't help me. Great thanks. (The ER has no beds, and it would take up to 2 months to be seen by the hospital psych department. I'm so fed up. read more

Considering this is a place for MENTAL HEALTH you would think they care about your MENTAL HEALTH. To say the office staff is unprofessional is an UNDERSTATEMENT! I never in my years heard of marking a patient's chart CLOSED when they haven't seen the doctor in ONE MONTH and I will say ONE MONTH because I had a 90 DAY SUPPLY therefore I do not need to see a doctor EVERY MONTH. according to the office staff that means i was inactive for 4 months, now moving forward they do not state in their PATIENT PACKET that they will close your chart due to inactiveness which again for my case was 60 DAYS ! to then also state they have to submit your chart for "REVIEW" to reopen is PURE COMEDY; what is this a judicial system for Mental Health ????? If you can choose to go else where please save yourself and go else where ; this office staff does not care about the MENTAL HEALTH of their patients. I will also be filing a complaint with the NYS State of Health because this is the most ridiculous doctor's office and incompetent office staff I have ever dealt with. read more

This office is a caring place. Unfortunately, that care is for their bank accounts. I've always found the clerks and receptionists really helpful and kind, but the policies and practices here are callous and finacially predatory. Especially considering the vulnerability of the population who seek out mental health services. If you can get an appointment at all, expect to wait a long time to then be seated in an office while an automaton writes you a script and sends you on your way. And if you are a person whose mental hygiene is such that you let appointments lapse, expect to pay a punitive fee for the exact thing you're seeking treatment for. If anyone in this office has heard of the Hippocratic oath, they sure must think it's a joke. Go elsewhere for treatment. Even Dr. Nick from The Simpsons would be a better pick. read more

The absolute worse. I am calling to see if they could possibly be shut down. Never in my life since having treatment I have experienced this. I have been in treatment for 5 years; with an ssri and a benzo. I have depression, anxiety and ocd. I wasn't able to afford their ridiculous co-pays to be seen by an NP so I did not go. From neglecting my mental health, I have been hospitalized, missed work and have not left my room. After not feeling comfortable and petrified to double my Prozac, the African American NP would not give me any medication. So now I am going cold turkey without it. read more

I called to make an appointment and was surprised you STILL can't go in person. Then I was scheduled for an intake. The person was nice, but just read through a list of questions, which took a lot less than the time than I was told it would take. I then "met" the Doctor, who was nice, but the visit consisted of me restating what I had already told the social worker at the intake. Then she asked that I get blood work done for arthritis, but told me to get it from my doctor --to add to a script I had. My doctor would not do it, because she wasn't the doctor asking for it. So why couldn't Crasmere have emailed me a script in the first place? I do not have to go back and forth for a simple script. The visit with the doctor was way short. I then looked up what to expect from a first visit and got this. {Your intake appointment can take one to two hours. You'll fill out paperwork and assessments to help determine a diagnosis. After that, you'll have a conversation with the psychiatrist and an NP or PA may observe. The doctor will get to know you and come to understand why you are seeking treatment} THAT DID NOT happen. It was a waste of time and money. I am out of the money I paid, but I will be fine on my own. read more

Staff answers the phone with the intention of negating you from accessing service rather than being solution focused and connecting people to resources. I am sad that this is the quality of service provided when people seek mental health support. I had a referral from my doctor and was directed here through my insurance..... Beginning in about August or September of 2017 I sought help at Crasmere after having a hell of a time finding ANY available psychiatrist (there's a severe shortage in general, sadly). I have a chronic anxiety disorder, which I had already been diagnosed with prior, and I had been on a low dose of medication for years but that was no longer cutting it. Crasmere clearly has NO idea how to treat anxiety beyond throwing SSRI's (aka anti-depressants) at me at dosages that work...for depression. While I was depressed, anxiety was and always has been the key issue. I spent 9 months on a leave of absence from work while dealing with their BS, including triple-booking with multi-hour waits consistently. To make a long story short[er], the medication and dosage combinations I tried with them didn't do anything, now unsurprisingly. So, as a last resort they referred me for ketamine therapy, which is geared toward depression. A consultation couldn't hurt, but it did turn out to be a trippy way to spend money. I made it very clear from the beginning that anxiety was my root issue but at that point I was willing to try almost anything. I felt terrible and my life had basically stopped at the time with no foreseeable relief in sight (thank god I wasn't suicidal). Surprise! ketamine didn't help the anxiety. And, it didn't help the depression because it was a consequence of being unable to work due to anxiety. (The doctor's name is Fruitman, in downtown Manhattan. His receptionist asked ME if I wanted another ketamine session--after two that didn't appear to be helping--instead of asking the DOCTOR?) At some point, my therapist recommended someone her colleague saw--Dr. Adriel Gerard in Brooklyn who has been incredible (Side note: my therapist has had multiple clients that had bad experiences as Crasmere). It took him THREE MONTHS to get me back to work! And, THEN he worked with me to tweak my meds to mitigate some side effects. He told me that antidepressant is a bit of a misnomer in that it can be sufficient for treating anxiety too, and often require higher dosages than with depression. I've been seeing him for at least two years now and I couldn't be more grateful for him. Best of luck to anyone struggling. I know how terrible it can feel in the moment. Hang in there and good luck. Like most other reviews, the issue is with the office staff. My son had an initial evaluation appointment with one of the psychiatrists. He had an emergency and didn't come in (fine, no problem), but rather than calling or emailing and letting us know, they had someone cover him. When we came in they essentially said this other doctor could write us a prescription. Are you kidding me? My son is 9 and has never seen a psychiatrist, you don't even know who he is, but you have some pill pusher who will write him a prescription? When I told them this wasn't ok, they said this covering doctor could give him his evaluation. I'm sorry, I'm taking my son to a psychiatrist- do you really think he's just going to open up and be cool with some doctor he's met for the first time? And even if he did, what's the point if this isn't going to be his treating doctor? Reprehensible. Furious. Roar. read more

What an awful place. They treat clients like prisoners, and have the most unhelpful staff. One of the receptionists scheduled an appointment at their other location, all the way on the South Shore - which was nearly impossible to get to without a car and 2 hours by bus. Once there, that location doesn't accept credit/debit cards and they would not give the prescription without the co-payment of $40, and had no ATM on-site. Just. The. Absolute. Worst. I don't believe anyone can get help from Crasmere Psychiatric Services. Please do yourself a favor and keep looking for a provider, or find a new one. read more

My 13 year old son passed away last year cancer! This place became more and more unprofessional as I was in shock grief chronic PTSD and other issues. I was receiving both therapy and psychiatric treatment. My therapist was wonderful however the psychiatric part was horrific. They closed my file in the middle of my grief still in shock over my angel. I was actually insulted at my last psych visit by a psychiatrist I had never seen. They have a couple of very rude N.P. the staff especially the manager is cold and just mean. I left worse than I arrived. Think twice before going here. I am still receiving therapy elsewhere but because of Crasmere my other part of treatment is like a roller coaster ride. Not fair to anyone trying to live with the mental health issues especially for a mom like me trying to deal with the loss of my son. I hope I can help in making your decision to go elsewhere. If someone were to tell me I would be going to Grasmere Psychiatric voluntarily three years ago, I would have told them they were the ones that needed to go. I didn't think I needed help with my 9-11 issues. Heck I didn't believe I had any issues. The day I was referred to Dr. Olga Katz and Marina Roshal was one of the best days of my entire existence. I was a bit reluctant at first, only to find in the months that followed that I did need to come to terms with my issues. Yes, I did/do have issues. They know and understand the patients reluctance and assist us in getting over it. I found everyone in the office on Winthrop, especially Shelley to be most professional and helpful in all I requested or needed. And yet they are quick to try to get me to book my next appointment. This place is a disgrace. Update: basically because I called Dr. Beskina out on her unprofessional behavior in a respectful but insistent way (no yelling or cursing, I remain a professional at all times) she has sent me a letter saying she is decreasing her patients and referred me to the hospital not even a real doctor. Too vulnerable right now during the pandemic to swim upstream through their utter nonsense. I tried making my way through the swarm to an appointment, but I never made it through their administrative process, most probably due to the incompetence of the support staff. Not surprising in Staten Island. An hour before my appointment, they cancelled it because they didn't have the paperwork that they never told me was required during their phone admission conversation. Don't have a printer to print pdf files. Don't have the will to start all over again with them. The director of administration here has failed. Never got to see one of their professionals. I would like to leave this review for the Fran. She works the front desk in a very busy office. I took notice that whenever I am there waiting to be seen by my Dr. she is always friendly and always smiling. She definitely knows how to multi task! Besides all of her regular job duties, she is always extremely helpful,whether it would be a simple question or a personal question she is always honest. The main reason I am writing this review is because I work in sales, and I know what it takes to make clients happy. I also know how much it means to be recognized! Your office is privileged to have an employee working for you! Thanks for all the help! PS the rest of the staff is great as well, but if there was ever a problem with a payment Fran never embarrassed me in front of other patients or coworkers. Very unprofessional not out to help the patient what so ever. Not only did they attempt to bill my insurance company for a visit that was for research but after I confronted Dr Katz I was given a letter stating I had to find other treatment for my minor autistic child in 30 Days. My daughter is in a controlled medicine where am SI going to find someone to see here within 30 days to prescribe her medication in 30 days ..... no one and she knew that. Then she had two of her office staff go on to yelp and post negative comments about my own personal business. This place is one big adderol Factory. Stay clear away from anyone there. read more

RUN AWAY! My last visit was a few weeks ago and I will never be returning, a few reasons. 1- The wait for Dr. Bekina is ridiculous, I scheduled the first appointment thinking it would be quick, boy was I wrong.. I waited about 2 hours for her to show up. Apparently others are notified of the wait, well I should've know better after reading her reviews. When she finally decided to show up, I waited another 15-20 mins before she called me in. She saw me for about 3 mins, no apology and didn't even make eye contact. Horrible bedside manner. 2- I recently found out they charge my health insurance for the doctor visits and some sort of psychotherapy. I have NEVER had a therapy session at this office. 3- They NEVER pick up the phones, its impossible to get in touch with them. Do yourself a favor and stay away. I found another doctor in Brooklyn who genuinely cares about her patients. I actually spend less time going back and fourth from Brooklyn than waiting at Crasmere psychiatric service. read more

RUN the other way. Dr. Beskina is one of the most unprofessional people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. She is cold, careless and doesn't possess an ounce of empathy. This place is a complete waste of your time and money. I had to wait 46 minute for my appointment. Apparently that is not a new thing, I should have read the other reviews. It was so bad that the other people in the dingy waiting room started seeing who was in next so we could gauge the wait. Unacceptable. Once I got into my $350 appointment, Dr. Beskina spent all of 15 minutes with me, asked about 5 questions, interrupted when I answered, and sent me on my way with a prescription. The prescription was not what I needed. One of the two medication made me really ill and the other was in the wrong dosage. So I reached out I get them changed. They made me come in for another $150 appointment in which I was told that I'm "too sensitive" to medications and that she gives that medication to children. Horrific. I wish that was all. When I asked to have the other prescription changed, I was told that it's a "controlled substance" and I was treated like a criminal. I'm fully aware that it is a controlled substance, that's why I was there to get a prescription, not buying it over the counter. This woman is minutes away from a malpractice lawsuit. If you, or a loved one, is struggling with depression, do not put your life in her hands. Two other points, 1) this place looks on the outside like exactly what you get when you're in there, trust your gut. & 2) the phone rings in the waiting room CONSTANTLY. I realized that they never answer the phone and only get in touch with me once I've emailed. Beware. read more

I have been visiting Crasmere Psych Services with my daughter for over 15 years. The doctors and therapists are caring and know how to their job very well. I would definitely recommend using these doctors and therapists if needed. They also have different types of group therapy which may be beneficial for your need. All of the administrative staff are also trained and very professional and are always helpful and when you call you always get help if needed or a call back they never leave you hanging read more

The biggest downside is that the location does not allow for much parking and getting onto the block requires navigating a series of one way streets. They always respond to any calls or emails within minutes of my submission. They actually reached out to me during our recent time of crisis with the nova virus to insure that I was attended to. I went here because I was a mess and my prior psychiatrist had basically thrown in the towel. I have being seeing Dr. Beskina for more than a few years now and she is GREAT. Willing to work with you on the meds. Open minded and caring. If I even walk in with a coke can I hear it! In a caring way. She cares about you as a person and not just a patient, and if not for her, I would be, as my former psychiatrist told me "in the back of a psych ward somewhere for good" if things didn't get better. Things are MUCH better. I and my family have a great deal of gratitude towards her and Dr. Katz and the GREAT staff up front. After missing YEARS and YEARS of family parties and holidays because of my issues, I started going again only a month or so after seeing Dr. Beskina and have not missed one since. And I've done other things I hadn't done for years. I have a life again. The staff is Indeed the best I have ever come into contact with. I email the staff and NEVER wait more than 15 minutes for a detailed response addressing my issue regarding my changing my appointment or passing a message to the doctor or whatever. They have NEVER let me down and are so friendly and polite and professional and patient. The office setting makes you feel at ease and not like you are one of a hundred patients waiting to be seen. Most office waiting areas provoke anxiety. This one does the opposite for me. I HIGHLY recommend this office as the best on the Island and Dr. Beskina as the best psychiatrist I have ever seen, along with the best staff. And after too many psychiatrists, Dr. Beskina is the only one I hope to see for a long, long time. read more

Worst place I've ever encountered!!! After reading all of the horrible reviews I should have known better than to even attempt to go to this shit hole. I set up an appointment online a few minutes later a woman named Amy called and said she was calling to do a over the phone pre registration to see if they would "accept" me as a patient (didn't know this was a school) she asked basic questions... asked if i was on any pain management medications, I told her i was taking methadone, she continued to ask a few mire questions and then said she's going to call tomorrow to let me know if they will accept me or not. The next day i get a voicemail from her pretty much stating that bc I take methadone they wont take me as a patient, and kept going on about how they don't prescribe methadone bla bla bla (i never expected them to prescribe me methadone, i see another doctor for that) point is they rejected me as a patient under complete discrimination bc of a medication i take which honestly is none of their business i just decided to be honest. She also made reference to the fact that this is not their expertise. AGAIN i was looking for a psychiatrist for mental health issues such as bipolar anxiety and ptsd nothing to do with methadone!!!! This place should be shut down and the "director" Olga should be fired. Still thinking about obtaining legal council as this feels very prejudice and personal!!!! read more

All about the money :-( they accept your child to the practice, triple book the time slots, the wait is 2-3 hours & then after treating your child for over 4 years, when your child turns 18 and the private insurance reimbursement changes.... To an adult reimbursement ( which is less) They tell you they are reducing the doctors patient load.... Find another doctor ..... But they do advertise they are accepting new patients and they supposedly treat adults. read more

The actual psychiatrists and counselors in this place are fine. They are friendly and knowledgeable. I have no problem with them. The receptionists, however, I have a big problem with. Out of four appointments I have scheduled with them so far, only one was actually processed competently. The first appointment, despite me calling them and scheduling it myself, was somehow set for 45 minutes earlier than we agreed. I ended up missing it because of them having to reschedule. The second appointment was okay. The third appointment was scheduled a full hour earlier than the the time I was given. Thankfully, I showed up early because it was my first time meeting this specific counselor. And finally, the fourth was not entered into their system at all. Another rescheduling. I hope these people realize that I have deadlines to meet for my mental health and that their staff's incompetence is not helping matters any. The only reason I didn't rate this place any lower is because the actual psychiatric service is good. You just have to jump through flaming fucking hoops to get there. read more

I am a single parent. My wife moved out four years ago and left me and my two younger children ,now 13 and 17. It was long past due that they see a psychiatrist or therapist or both. I made an appointment to a psychiatrist in order to introduce my children to therapy. I am a mail carrier and As fate would have it i got caught in the pouring rain and i was going to be late so i called and practically begged them to wait. I was in the car on my way.... and they would not wait one minute passed my scheduled appointment time. I was the last appointment. I could tell that the receptionist kept asking the doctor on my behalf, to no avail. Finally i gave up and told them i would call and reschedule, which i will never do...I believe the doctor did not have the slightest regard for my situation.... Way to go folks. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. They have good communication. The staff always answers my phone calls and emails immediately. I was not a right fit for a particular doctor there and the staff listened to my concern and appointed me to another one right away. Don't plan to come here unless you have an hour and a half extra time to wait. Dr Katz is extremely caring and takes her time listening to me which is great, she doesn't just hand out scripts and wish you a nice day, like some other Drs I've seen, before I went to Crasmere, my therapist is just downright AWESOME and between both have literally saved my life and I can never be greatful enough..BTW.. the girls in the front are fantastic so some claims of anyone being nasty is totally unfounded.. read more
