Bob represented my daughter after she was involved in a bad car accident where she was hit from the…read moreside causing her car to flip and drag on its side, leaving her with a horrible arm injury. The gentleman that caused the accident actually made the 911 call. It was clear that he was 100% at fault. My wife and I found Bob on Google while we were traveling to Santa Barbara from Connecticut where we live, as we thought it would be wise to hire a local attorney. When we first met with him, he was compassionate and clearly communicated the fees and expected process. At that time, we were told the legal fee would be 1/3 of a settlement if it did not go to trial (and trial would have incurred a 40% fee). After a long 18 months (double the time of what Bob originally told us), in December 2023 Bob contacted my daughter with the settlement amount. The driver was fully insured, as well as full admission of guilt. Bob was pompous over his accomplishment and thought it was a great settlement. For him, it clearly was standing to make a huge windfall of $330,000 from my daughter's injury. When we found out he was taking 40% (another $70,000) I called and spoke to him. The reason I am writing this review is out of my frustration on how this misunderstanding has been handled by Bob and his assistant Wendy, who have dismissed our concern as confusion, and have ignored emails to request additional clarity. From the heart I reminded Bob of the conversation we had in his office, and we left sure that his fee was 1/3. He told me that I was confused, and said even Wendy (his assistant) was present when he explained his fee structure to us. (We were quite sure Wendy was not present). My opinion was that I caught Bob in a lie...I emailed Wendy several times to confirm what Bob stated, but no answer to that simple question. I have spoken to many respected and prestigious attorneys about the miscommunication or misinterpretation of the fee percentage. They all had the same answer that with such a huge settlement, Attorney Patterson should try to work something out with us. My daughter is in college pursuing a career in singing songwriting music production, and she has permanent nerve damage to her hand & arm from the accident even after multiple surgeries and procedures. We expected better from Attorney Patterson, after the positive start and experience we had with his services, we now have an unfortunate bad taste in our mouth
