With its neighbor building on Clerkenwell Green, Craft Central is a haven of studios/workshops for a wide variety of artisans from jewelers, potters, knitters, haberdashers, clothiers, painters, graphic artists, violin makers and more. A few times per year, Craft Central holds open house events when anyone (for a small donation -of £2, I think) can have a stroll through to meet the artists, see beautiful things where they're made and maybe make a purchase that will benefit the artist directly. It is a privilege to have such a concentration of talent in the center of this great Town and I always look forward to these events. Many of these artists also show their products at the big craft fairs such as Origin. read more

Craft Central is a destination for talented designer-makers, architects, creative individuals and small businesses. The organisation is situated in a Grade II listed building and is home to private offices, shared work- space, desks, exhibition and events.

History

Established in 1970.

A registered charity, for 40 years we have supported craftsmanship and craftspeople and encouraged the public to appreciate craft skills and buy fine craft products. We are a provider of studios and workshops, desks and co-working spaces, run an exhibitions and events programme and classes and workshops. And we provide business support and offer opportunities to exhibit and sell fine craft products; and our Network of designer-makers enables craftspeople to link with colleagues in the wider craft community.

This is a pretty good charity shop. I find that it stocks consistently good quality second hand…read moreclothes and homeware items. The staff at this shop always present the stock very well. Any time that I pop in here to browse, there are always plenty of customers having a good rummage too. You never know what bargain you might find on a given day!
