My husband had never been, now he can say he went twice in a weekend. First time was breakfast. It was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait long to get seated. Nia was our waitress and her first day. She was too sweet. I ordered pecan pancakes, cheesy eggs and sausage. My husband got steak and eggs. We did have to wait a little while for our food, so Nia brought us a few biscuits. She checked in on us before the food came. We both enjoyed our breakfast. The next day we went for dinner plus few friends. We got there early and no wait. The dinner menu looked great. I got the honey butter fried chicken. Woo wee, 4 pieces with 2 biscuits underneath. I would like to share feedback regarding my recent visit to Cracker Barrel. My party was seated at 9:58 AM, and after waiting over 20 minutes without being greeted, we had to flag down a waitress just to find out who our server was. She stepped away to check and returned saying they were still trying to determine that, and she offered to take our drink order in the meantime. We then asked a male host for assistance, and he gave a similar response. A few minutes later he returned to say our waiter would be with us "in a couple of minutes." At that point, I explained that waiting over 20 minutes just to be acknowledged was unacceptable and asked that someone assist us immediately. Shortly after, a male waiter finally came to take our order. Between the long wait to be greeted and the additional wait for our food, our plates did not reach the table until 11:00 AM -- a full hour after we were seated. We finished eating and were at the register by 11:27 AM. There was also an error in our food order, but we chose not to wait another 15 minutes for a correction. A visit that should have taken about 45 minutes ended up taking much longer. We did speak with the shift manager, and I truly hope improvements are made in the near future so guests can receive timely and attentive service. read more

We had an awful experience. Our food took one hour to be served, and the restaurant was practically empty. Apparently a cook quit around the time of our order, but no manager came to talk to us to let us know what was going on. After an hour went by and we receive our food, still no management came to talk to us or offer us any accommodation for our extended wait time. My family and I went on Thanksgiving day for lunch which turned to a late lunch - since our 45 minute wait became 1 hour and 15 minute wait. It was worth it though! My expectations were low on such a busy day, but our server was amazing, though she was new, she had the help of her fellow team members. From time to time drinks were forgotten but not for long when they checked in on us regularly. The Thanksgiving food menu was surprisingly good! However I was not a fan of the chicken and dumplings, I feel the dumplings were too big and dense for my liking. While I understand the establishment is busy, a lack of communication regarding delays is disheartening. The absence of proactive updates or acknowledgment leaves much to be desired in terms of customer service. Rating this a 1 because Yelp won't let me go lower. My wife and I have eaten at Cracker Barrels before. We've eaten at THIS location a number of times. Usually we have a server there to take our drink order quickly, sometimes before we can even open our menus. Tonight we were coming from an event in Plano, and were still in our costumes. The gentleman who seated us was very polite, and got us seated quickly. That was the LAST good point of our visit. We sat there at our table for 15 minutes, while 3-4 servers passed around us, and NOT ONE OF THEM even stopped to take our drink orders, let alone food orders. NOT. ONE. There was also a gentleman in a gray shirt (possibly security) who came out of the kitchen, stood for a few minutes, then took a seat by the kitchen door, watching us. The only thing we wanted was to get some dinner. But they obviously didn't want us there, so we left. And we WILL NOT BE BACK, and I suggest you don't go there either. read more

We went to Cracker Barrel Saturday night for dinner. I had the veggie plate- green beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and turnip greens. Food was presented well, food served hot. The greens were praise worthy. The others in my party were satisfied with their food. Our waiter seemed to struggle remembering to get needed things. We had to ask a couple times for syrup for French toast, and didn't bring the hash browns until the meal was almost finished. He gave me the wrong lemonade but I told him it was ok. He seemed to be doing his best and was friendly. I was surprised there weren't more customers there. It is one of my favorite places to bring my grandkids. We eat and then shop in the country store. Today I was a little sad. We had to wait A LOT for our food which is understandable on a Saturday night. But, our drinks were never refilled because our waitress was MIA. Cordale came and very nicely refilled our drinks. He was very nice. Also the young lady that seated us was super nice, even bringing bread when she saw that we had been waiting for a while. The food was so so because the chicken, hash brown casserole arrived cold. It seems that: or they don't have enough people serving or at the kitchen. More personnel in busy days is highly advised!!! Oh my goodness, we have always loved Cracker Barrel but not anymore. So terribly disappointed. It has completely changed. The food truly sucks! We know what good chicken fried steak is... we were raised on it! Theirs is comparable to a Banguet frozen dinner! The "steak" is mashed and formed into patties that all are alike. It is spongy with NO crunch. The gravy is greasy and tastes like bacon. The green beans were horrible! We were there at 7 pm on Friday evening. It was empty! We will not return again. We had to go find the cashier when time to pay. She was playing in the merchandise! The store is full of Thanksgiving and Christmas items all cheaply made and way overpriced. To be clear -- the 5 stars in this review are for the corporate level customer service team only. Corporate follow up has been exceptional - immediate responses to the breadth of the original post was understanding & exemplifies customer service. I was provided a gift cert for 2 full adult meals, however I live & work internationally. Corporate allowed me to share the gift cert with my family in TX and they reported a much better experience at their dinner last night (sorry, no pics to share). If Corporate can encourage the local restaurants (franchisees?) to enact customer service best practices, they might have a better product. Nice place to have a meal. Gets crowded fairly quickly. Lots to take in and look at while you're there. Our what from the beginning we were told was 30 mins but was more around 15 minutes. So that was good. The staff working here were all friendly and welcoming, it's just our service was on the slower side of things. Once we received our orders, we had to still wait for cutlery. Coffees were more on the lukewarm feeling versus fresh hot. But the food was good and filling. So be sure to go hungry as portions are on the decent side. Their biscuits are delicious. Rere was the best! This was our first time to Cracker Barrel and I will be back! We got the meatloaf and dumplings and I will be dreaming of those dumplings forever. I was craving vegetables for dinner and could always count on CB to have a good selection but they have removed about half the offerings. Of my two go to's Turnip greens are now only offered on Mondays and Pinto beans have been completely removed. My order should've been ready at 3:09. I didn't receive it until 3:35. Keep in mind this isn't a busy time of the day and I could count the cars in the parking lot. I don't mind waiting some extra time if the food is prepared correctly. However, prepared correctly after the long wait is not what I got. The meal should've been prepared with 2 eggs SCRAMBLED. It looked like one egg and it most definitely wasn't scrambled. The cook just conveniently used the spatula to cut slits in the egg. That went to the trash. They also need to make a practice of cleaning the grill. There were burnt particles embedded into each of the pancakes. That was conveniently facing down on the dish to hide all the crap that was cooked into them. Same with the bacon...the side facing up looked ok but once turned on the other side it wasn't cooked. After waiting for an eternity I was told that they were out of the hashbrown casserole and was asked to pick something else. I picked regular hashbrowns. When the food was finally brought out though there was hashbrown casserole in the bag. This was the ONLY positive experience with the visit. What's the purpose of filling all the options for condiments in the app if they decide to totally ignore? There was no ketchup for the casserole. No plasticware. NO butter for the pancakes. Where they do that at...no butter pancakes?? The only thing that was included besides the ridiculous prepared food was 3 bottles of syrup that I made sure I asked for with one of the many times during the long wait was to make sure that was included. The girl at the counter asked if I wanted the condiments that were missing. I told her no because I had already been waiting long enough. The above order was for confirmation 29102927848194051. I should've learned my lesson because I'd gone the day before and had to call back because the French toast wasn't good. My friend spoke to the manager and have yet to see the refund go back from which she said she processed on confirmation 610779648. I'm pretty sure that Cracker Barrel never seats you immediately so that you have to spend a good 5-10 minutes wandering the store. Even if there is NO ONE in the restaurant. Not complaining about it because shopping the store is always fun plus the old school candy is always awesome. But I swear this has to be a marketing tactic. Cracker Barrel is fabulous for anyone who appreciates a ton of food for a little and enjoys country cooking. There's no flair and hoity toity "greens" and random junk that doesn't belong in it. They keep it simple, as they should. Waitress was awesome. Food was great. Restaurant clean and everyone including the check out lady in the store were super friendly. This location is in a tricky spot with construction. If you miss the turn into it, you have to go all the way around a mile or two and try again. So pay attention and don't miss the turn! read more

Had a horrible experience! Firstly, was ignored when I walked in and others behind me were seated. I felt a undertone of the staff not wanting me there. I'm not sure what was going on but, I did read some similar reviews on Google which educated me on why they might have treated me that way. The food was okay, but I basked for over hard eggs and they gave me over easy. Had to walk to the front of the entrance to ask for silverware, which the associate should have provided. 12/08/2017 What is the first we do when we land? First stop is to come here for Breakfast/Lunch. I think there is always a wait anytime you come here. We only waited about 5 minutes this time as there are tables available. We sit down and study the menu for as long as we want. Maybe until our stomachs starts growling again. I always like the pecan pancakes here with those little tiny bottles of maple syrup. They warm those up for you so it's easier to pour. I think it also tastes better warmed up too. I've always loved eating at Cracker Barrel, which is why I chose that place to celebrate my birthday yesterday. It was terrible!!! First we asked for a knife to use butter on the biscuits, they said they didn't have a knife just the one that would come with the steak, (not everyone ate steak) so we explained again and he offered us a plastic one, and she said it's because we are busy we don't have clean ones!!!! and then she finally decide to bring normal Knife for everyone, biscuits and corn bread was already cold. And of course the place was not full, just 4 tables at 5:30pm Finally, meals arrived. 4 of the 6 Dinner were cold as ice. They send me back and they bring me back cold, I have to call the waiter so many times to bring me my food and my parents, I was the last one to eat, and since I ordered steak the 3 times I sent it back it was not how I like it, Mac & Cheese came with 2 black rare pieces (I ordered unloaded), I didn't even say anything else. I really want to get up and leave, I was so upset. I will NEVER go back to Cracker Barrel in Desoto. The worst service and food! Very disappointed.
