If two heads are better than one, three has to make our group genius. Or so one would think. The hostess was nice and helpful; checked us in and showed us a couple of short videos. One on safety and rules. One geared towards our themed room. We enter and the timer is set. We grab our flashlights and begin exploring the room with plans to escape. Horoscopes, stars, constellations, star maps, oh my. Lots of work and lots of thinking. It actually made my brain hurt. We used our radio and called for help because the lock was stuck and therefore we were unable to access our clue. This ended up happening another time as well. Needless to say, our mission failed. We did have FUN trying. Upon leaving we discovered that room was the hardest. Wow! That explains why we had four out of ten clues remaining. read more

We really enjoyed this escape room. We did "Behind the Bookshelf" with two adults and 3 kids, ages 8, 12, and 13. There was a way for every age group to actively participate. The clues were fun and engaging, but not overly challenging. We will definitely be back to try the other rooms! read more

We did the Written in the Stars room with a group of 3 and finished with almost half an hour to spare. I do not recommend this room for anyone who has ever done an escape room before, though it might be okay for first-timers who are not comfortable with the concept and want to be guided through the process step-by-step. The main problem I had with this room is that there were written clues around the room that told you what objects to look at to figure out the code for each lock, and gave very strong hints as to how to solve the puzzle (e.g., to open the lock on box A, look at object B and pay attention to the colors). The puzzles themselves were very simplistic but within the realm of normal. The fact that we were being led by the nose to every single answer, when the puzzles weren't even that hard in the first place, felt extremely infantilizing. I go to escape rooms because I want to be challenged and think outside the box. If all I wanted to do was carefully follow instructions I could have stayed home and put together a bookcase or something. Also the instructions were full of typos. Some were merely misspellings but one explicitly told you to put a number in the wrong lock (though the correct lock was mentioned somewhere else on the page). The decor was not impressive and mostly looked like something an amateur could have put together in an afternoon using objects from a craft store. There were virtually no red herrings and anything that might have been mistaken for a red herring had a sticker on it saying it wasn't in play. read more

My team has done both escape rooms at this location. We actually set the room record for The Garden yesterday! Let me know if you beat our time. Our team name is #nosmells I enjoy this location. Both rooms are solid and unique. I feel that The Garden is slightly better, but we did get out in 27 minutes, so I think it was a bit easy, although, we had a team of 8, which helped, but only because we communicate well. The Elevator is a unique experience, and they have added upgrades since we beat it. The puzzles in that room were more math based as I remember. Great staff! I look forward to experiencing other rooms that they create. South Side of Chicago is representing with some cool escape room locations. read more

We were looking for something fun to do as a family and my daughter had been here earlier this year for a birthday party. We did the Behind the Bookcase room. This was absolutely perfect for a family night out. The clues were hard enough to keep us all engaged but not so hard that my kids couldn't participate as well. We all had a great time. We will definitely be going back to try some of the other rooms. I would highly recommend this for a great night of fun for all ages. read more

This was my first escape room experience. I wanted something fun and different for my bachelorette party (about a month ago), and my maid of honor found this place for our group. We did the garden room with a group of about 6, which was perfect. Everyone had something to look for or figure out in the room. The level of difficulty was perfect for us as a group of beginners. Not so easy that we got everything immediately, but not so hard that we couldn't solve it ourselves. The space has a nice waiting area and was very clean. Loved the lockers to hold our purses while we were working on the escape. The props for a final photo celebrating our victory were a nice touch. I'll definitely go back when they update the rooms. read more

This might literally be the absolute worst escape room we have ever been to!!! And trust, In the fact we have been to Dozens!!! We picked the "Bookcase Room" which was anything but and Easy/Medium room. Clues were non existent, no order what so ever was given when you did find one. We literally sat there for minutes on end trying to figure out what the hell to do next.. "I'm sorry" but a easy/medium level means you find clues, and thus move forward.. Ah, NO!!!! Not in this room, here you find clues and say. "What the hell is out next move?( The disclaimer I found most amusing was that " if you smell like Alcohol " you can be denied entrance, but it's totally ok for a couple to enter "Reeking" of horrible Weed Smoke. It was so bad, my girlfriend grabbed the air freshener and started spraying the entire place. That being said location was nice, clean with ample parking.. read more

My family and I came here January 6, 2019 after we received gift cards for Christmas. My husband and I are escape room enthusiasts, and we found the room garden of chaos to be just the right amount of challenge for us, as well as a wonderful introduction for our new escape room friends that came along that day.
