I used this company for several years for annual tax returns for both state and federal taxes. In the previous years they preformed in a satisfactory manner despite being considerably more expensive than their competitors.
However, this year they've been absolutely terrible. Not only did I pay much more than I would have for a similar service, but they were also extremely rude and incompetent. The main accountant who runs the business is arrogant and condescending over reasonable questions to paying customers. For example, he will insinuate that the questions you are asking are due to you either being ignorant, i.e, stupid, or desiring to commit illegal tax fraud.
Can you imagine going to a car mechanic and him responding to your questions about your car's engine with "I'm going to assume you're asking this question because you're ignorant and not because you want to do something illegal." In what world is any supposed professional dumb enough to respond to a question this way?
His manner is as if he is doing you a personal favor and that you should be grateful for anything you get. It's as if you're a charity case and not a paying customer!
His assistants have good customer service skills but seem to be completely clueless about even the most basic questions and will constantly put you long hold times.
The service I received overall was extremely mediocre. I gave them my tax information and waited for almost a month and got no feedback. I personally went and paid them a visit to inquire about my return and they had no clue. After waiting for a while, they come back and it turns out my return was ready but unsent. If I had taken any longer they would have let it go out late because of their lack of organization.
The returns and deductions they got me were similar to what a person of average intelligence could have gotten for themselves using a free tax program. The only difference being was, of course, the fantastic condescension that goes with it - you, the paying customer, should be grateful they even decided to grace you with the honor of their service!
I spoke to several co-workers about their tax experiences and found out that I could have gotten similar tax returns using a free online service. Instead, I paid at least $125 to be disrespected and stressed. I will never use their services again and I advise you to do the same.
