1 Star I have never…read moreexperienced anything so frightening, humiliating, and traumatic in a medical setting. I have gastroparesis, and while I was out of state, I suffered an extremely severe flare-up with violent, uncontrollable vomiting. I was vomiting so aggressively that I could barely walk, speak, or breathe between episodes. I was completely exhausted and terrified, and I desperately needed medical attention. Instead, I was left to basicilly fight for my own life in the emergency department waiting room. My husband repeatedly went to the front desk because he was genuinely afraid I wasn't going to make it much longer without treatment. My two teenage daughters were with me and had to watch their mother deteriorate in front of them. From their perspective, I can only imagine I looked like the excorsisim, convulsing on the floor, vomit everywhere, in complete agony. They were so frightened and upset that they were even confronting staff themselves, asking why nobody was helping me. At one point, a nurse rechecked my vitals (despite my very obvious urgent need for medical assistance) and appeared concerned. She said they would keep an eye on me. They didn't. Shortly afterward, my condition became so severe that I fell out of the chair and ended up on the emergency department floor, literally fighting to breathe between violent vomiting and gagging. I was lying in a puddle of my own vomit, which by that point contained blood from the damage caused by the relentless vomiting. I was directly in the pathway of the ER doors, and staff walked around me.I remember bits and pieces, but i do remember laying there face aganist the floor, vomit everywhere, vision starting to black out, thinking to myself "this is it, this is where im going to die" It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced. Other patients were more concerned about me than the hospital staff. My husband eventually had to find someone himself to help himget me off the floor. When a staff member finally came over, he took his time walking toward me, saw me lying on the floor covered in vomit, appeared immediately annoyed, and asked, "So what do you need help with?" I honestly could not believe what I was hearing. Unfortunately, things did not improve after I was taken to a room. The nurse seemed annoyed with me from the beginning, like i was being dramatic or overreacting. She took me to the restroom to "clean me up," pushed my chair toward the toilet, and told me to take my clothes off. At that point, I barely had the strength to do anything. She did not help clean the vomit out of my hair or off the side of my face. She simply put my hoodie in a bag, put a gown over my clothes, and pushed me back to the ER bed. I was still violently gagging, choking, and struggling to get air. Rather than being treated like someone experiencing a serious medical crisis, I felt like I was being treated as an inconvenience. Then came the physician. I explained my condition and what was happening, but I felt completely dismissed. I have gastroparesis and have been hospitalized multiple times this year for severe flare-ups, including episodes that have led to severe metabolic acidosis and nearly cost me my life. Despite this history and the severity of what was happening, I was told that my blood work wasn't unusual and that I needed to drink water and orange juice before being discharged. I was not supposed to be drinking liquids during the episode, yet I was being told to drink them as a condition of discharge. I did not feel that my condition was being appropriately evaluated or that the severity of my symptoms was being taken seriously. I was there from approximately 11 a.m. until 8 or 9 p.m. When the doctor eventually returned, he seemed aggravated that I was still there and asked me, "What can I do to get you out of here?" That question says everything about how this experience felt. Nobody wants to spend an entire day in an emergency department. I certainly didn't. I wanted to be treated, stabilized, and safe enough to go home. Instead, I felt ignored, humiliated, and abandoned during one of the most terrifying medical episodes of my life. What makes this even harder is knowing that my teenage daughters had to watch their mother collapse onto an ER floor while staff walked around her. They should never have had to witness something like that, and I will never forget the look on their faces. I understand that emergency departments are busy and that staff deal with difficult situations every day. I also understand that not every patient will receive the treatment they expect. But there is a basic level of compassion, urgency, communication, and dignity that every patient should be able to expect--especially someone who is actively vomiting blood, collapsing, choking, and struggling to breathe. This experience was horrifying and deeply traumatic for my entire family.

I hope this really…read morespeaks to others out there about the incredible experience and quality of care i received at LeConte. Dear Covenant Health, I just discharged from the emergency room at LeConte in Sevierville. I was treated under Dr. Cullen Copeland submitting myself after suffering two long months of pretty intense and severe persistent shoulder pain after a car accident. The wait time was basically non-existent to even be seen and placed in a room to receive treatment. Your entire staff from the receptionist that checked me in all the way up to the doctor that oversaw everything were absolutely 100% professional, undoubtedly respectful and completely went above and beyond when it came to actively listening and responding to any voiced concerns. I am absolutely just beyond grateful for the entire opportunity to be treated at this facility. I saw it had 2.8 stars on yelp but was hoping i would be appropriately treated and decided to go anyway. I mean, it was more than I could have even known to ask for!!! Even the experience of literally not having to get out of bed for the imaging ordered (x-ray) was really new and surprising and really nice! I've not ever seen an x-ray machine that basically didn't need an entire room for housing and didn't require me to get up and go to it. The nurse who later arrived with my discharge papers was so respectful and allowed me to not only voice my concerns but when I asked to speak with the Dr again because I didn't fully understand the discharge paperwork, she immediately snagged him from his untold continuously busy day and he was amazing in how he not only listened to my concerns but even literally saved me truth be told--untold amounts of money!! He, who i'm sure was simply just operating as he normally does, went above and completely beyond what I arrived there expecting!!! Once he explained everything i was so so grateful he did just exactly what he did. While it would have been just stellar all the way around to have him be the one to explain the for-the-moment diagnosis so that I could ask questions etc, I do recognize that is absolutely just kind of silly to expect with all of the duties he has being in his position and how busy he must certainly stay as your ER physician! He was literally looking out for me even when I didn't even know how or that he had even considered the entire visit that far out and down to that level of detail!! However he let me speak, heard me out fully and wait patiently and very respectfully, I feel , for me to ask all of my questions. he didn't interrupt or really act anything other than just completely professional. After I had voiced my initial confusion he explained everything to me. I just cannot stress enough that He is not only a brilliant physician, but an absolutely genuinely empathetic and caring human being. I had no clue that he was truly doing me a humongous favor by referring me to primary care instead of ordering an MRI. He even explained what I was basically going to expect in my treatment moving forward after I am established with a pcp! I literally walked out of that department just beyond grateful for your staff. I mean I am just so ignorant i guess of the world they function in everyday, that I had kind of ridiculous expectations going in literally to the point when Dr explained how he had saved me $5,000 OR MORE because my insurance would absolutely not have covered an MRI in the ER, I was finally able to see just the smallest glimmer come from what I feel confidently, is really and truly just an exceptional, empathetic, caring and downright incredible emergency room department staff. I simply can not express truly how not only BEYOND impressed I am but how deeply grateful I am for such an incredible experience being treated by such amazing people. I will leave this review or something very similar with five full stars on yelp for this er. I mean, you guys beat the UT hospital ER by a mile. I mean comparing the two experiences...it's just not even close!!! Thank you truly, Please show your staff how much you do appreciate them, because they absolutely deserve it if this is how LeConte does things on the daily. Wow!! Best Regards, Sk 5/23/2026

I spent five days there with the first three under quarantine. I was informed in detail as to the medications being administered, why, and what would be the expected results. I was on a prescribed diet and once again was informed as to why in simple, understandable layman language. Regardless of a staff members position, whether a doctor, nurse, dietician, or even someone on the custodial staff, before leaving the room I was always asked if I needed anything or if they could do anything to make me more comfortable. Of course they would need to ask my nurse before giving me anything but, they asked! The staff was always polite and respectful and came to work with their sense of humor. The whole time, I felt that I was a special patient. Of course I was not but, this was how I was treated and how I felt. Truly, I believe that their great care care overall contributed my very rapid recovery. Two of my nurses, Amy and Jennifer were absolutely priceless. They always asked me about my condition and how I felt, in my own opinion. Many evenings they would take time out to just have a conversation with me, not related to my illness, but just on a person to person level. No one wants to be hospitalized but with my recent experience with these great and caring people, this is where I would want to receive my care.

My family has had three bad experiences here and the last of which was the worst experience. I brought my baby here and then was ridiculed by a member of the staff for thinking she was hurt when "babies bounce." He made several other comments and so I left thinking I must just be worrying for nothing and then decided to take her to children's hospital(which I will 100% recommend to anyone. It is worth the drive) and they found that she had a broken collarbone. I called the ER director to complain and hilariously enough I was told that they wouldn't be doing anything about it. I then requested they wave the $50 bill they sent us because we left after their nurse suggested it and after sending us a letter denying that then they immediately sent us to a debt collector instead of giving us time to either pay the bill or send a new one in the mail. I am honestly so disappointed in the healthcare services rendered here and so disappointed in not only the male nurse who made these comments but his employers who stood by them. If you need healthcare treatment for your children I implore you to go to Dolly Parton children's hospital so your children can get the care they need and both you and your children will be treated with concern and kindness.
