The entrance has some significant potholes so watch as you enter or leave, but the opening is very wide so you can maneuver around them pretty easily. This area is also used for the stockyards so there were several trucks with trailers but they tended to park further away from the restaurant. There are steps to the entrance, but there is a ramp on the left side as well. There is also a handicapped space at the bottom of the ramp, but you will need to walk through the gravel lot so plan accordingly. The entrance is at the bottom of a U-shaped bar. All seating is at the bar so large parties will be spread out. It you do have a large party, try to get a corner so you can talk easier. I was able to find a seat along the right side. There were quite a few regulars, evidenced by the joking between them and the staff. The place can get loud with all the conversation, but everyone is friendly and the staff is accommodating. While the kitchen is in the rear, the drinks, cups, silverware, etc. are all in the middle of the bar. This area is quite busy as all the staff maneuvers through here. It did seem waitresses were experienced and took care of both sides of the bar. The building itself is pretty run down but "well used" does not indicate dirty or unsafe, just that is has a lot of history. I ordered the biscuit with gravy and sausage and added two eggs for an additional dollar. The food came out in about ten minutes. The biscuit and gravy were very good and the eggs were cooked as ordered. The sausage was dry but was OK when added to the biscuit and gravy. My coffee never got below half a cup. It was a relatively warm morning, and the restaurant started to heat up while I was there. It appears they only have a wall air conditioner which cannot keep up with all the heat generated in the restaurant. It was not uncomfortable but could be that way in the summer. Betty's is a homey local spot with a decent breakfast for a good price.

If it was bigger and had tables, you'd feel like you were having breakfast at your grandmas house. The staff is friendly and the little time you do wait you can peruse all the wall decorations. There is no need to detail the food other than to say it's delicious and definitely not for those who are being deliberate about their diets. Sit back, enjoy and go back in time to a much simpler world. By the way, cash only

The coffee we had was very good- latte and flat white. They had run out of cold brew. Cinnamon bun was very sweet but good. The gluten free brownie was ok and chocolate chip cookie was airy (interesting) and enjoyed. If we had more time would have liked to have a full lunch.

The food was definitely the highlight, and I'll be back to try some of the other menu items. The service, however, could use a little improvement. Our server took a while to come over, and there were several moments where she seemed unsure about the menu. The sign at the door and the menu both said to ask about the grilled cheese of the day. When I asked, she responded in a very perplexed tone, "Umm, I think it's..." -- which was a little surprising since it was already 1 p.m. When she told me what it was, I realized it had meat. I even said, "Oh darn, it has meat on it," since I'm vegetarian, and she just replied, "Yeah." I noticed later that the menu says many items can be modified for vegan and gluten-free diets, so it would have been nice if she had mentioned that the grilled cheese could potentially be customized. I also asked what the soup was, and again she had to stop and think before saying, "I believe it's..." The name/description was unusual, so when we asked her to repeat it, she didn't really explain what it was. I'm still not entirely sure what the soup actually was. I was a server for years, and I completely understand not knowing every little thing, but knowing the daily specials and being able to describe them is pretty important. There was also some confusion about the breakfast menu. I was surprised to learn that grits are available after 11 a.m. on Saturdays. I asked if breakfast was served all day and specifically mentioned that I knew gravy and grits weren't available after 11 based on the menu. She then told me that on Saturdays they are available, which seems like something that could probably be clarified on the menu. Overall, the service wasn't bad, it just felt like it was lacking a little energy and attentiveness. We were never offered or given a refill on our sodas either. That said, the food was DELICIOUS, and the atmosphere is really cute and relaxing. I definitely plan to come back and try more of the menu. Hopefully the service was just an off day, because this little restaurant has a lot going for it!

Dori and I were looking for lunch one day while visiting Boone, and ended up in FARM, mainly due to visiting Boone Belles right next door. What was an accidental encounter turned in a fantastically spiritual experience. Like all my write ups, I am giving my opinion based on the type of restaurant, service level expectation and the price. The business model is to feed everyone who walks in whether you can pay for it or not. You can eat for free, pay $10 (or as much as you like), buy food tokens to leave in the token jar (passing on a meal) or work off your food in the kitchen or helping out... again as much or little as you want. The atmosphere is what your would expect in a cafeteria with folks servicing you off the line. The food is fresh farm to table and you only pay $10 for your meal, of which they have few options and basically tell what you can order. ... the food for the price was exceptional. There were folks from all walks of life from well off families to homeless folks off the street. The tables are tight and few in number, but not so much to be instructive. They are close enough to do one of my favorite things, meeting people and hearing their stories. So eat, meet and move on to make room for others. You really can miss it if you do not know it's there...look for it tucked away between Boone Belles and the Horton Hotel. In summary, if you are looking for a different dinner adventure, a good meal for services and price, and want to do some good in the world please check out the FARM Restaurant.
