Stayed here for two days while in town visiting family and it was actually a really nice spot! Great location with plenty of great restaurants surrounding the area you can even conveniently walk. The hotel staff were very friendly and they even had a restaurant right on site. Rooms were very clean and modern with a nice updated feel. You could tell the hotel is a new establishment. I loved the showers and the shower body wash they had inside. I would definitely stay here again when we come back into town! read more

Not what I expect from a Courtyard by Marriott. The property is pretty old but has a facelift from the outside. But not for the rooms. There is a $10 parking fee - not sure why as the Marriott property basically next door does not charge for parking. Doors are slamming all the time as they don't have the newer fixtures to prevent this. My TV wouldn't turn on and someone was sent to fix it, they said it happens a lot because of the refrigerator and where the plugs are located. I only stayed here because the other Marriott in the area was under construction. I'm a loyal brand member, but will try the Doubletree or Hilton Garden on my next work trip. read more

This is getting two stars for two reasons. One: we've stayed here multiple times and usually no issues occur. The first night, a guest was frustrated about vomit being in their sink. Luckily none was in ours, so no big deal. Unfortunately, a key card malfunction caused hours of wait time for guests trying to check in, including us. It's 27 minutes past midnight, and no one is at the front desk. Only one person is manning the front, and thats the security guard, who is respectful and conciliatory about this situation. It's disappointing to have to wait to check in after booking ahead of time. I've never experienced such a delay in a hospitality. We are seriously considering not returning if there aren't improvements. read more

Stayed here for one night during a road trip. The room was fairly spacious, but the beds and bathroom area were pretty small. We booked a room with two queen beds, but the beds were definitely smaller than standard queens. Also, the window AC unit was super loud at night, which made it hard to sleep. read more

Ohhh Bakersfield....Ohh Bakersfield. Now that I am a regular along the highway 5 going from the East Bay to San Diego every month, Bakersfield is my new haunt. It's been a lot of trouble trying to find a Marriott that was a fully positive experience even though I've stayed at several where they had really nice people that worked at the front desk there are always problems. Either the bed is uncomfortable bed or there is drag racing outside or you cannot adjust the temperature of your room or the walls are paper thin or the outside is too loud but this courtyard was pretty amazing! We were so happy to find a courtyard that was inviting as you entered the lobby and that the bed was so comfortable! I asked if we could get a room that was away from noise. Maybe the staff doesn't really know because even though the guy said he was giving us his quietest room, as soon as we walked in, we heard the train! haha I'm like...what the %$#!. Then the yelling teens went running down the hall screaming. There than that, it really was a quiet"ish" room. We were on the top floor so we didn't have the above the head noise. I guess the way of the hotel is that it cannot be quiet by virtue of it being a hotel. Overall though, this was pretty good and by golly, the bed was a dream! read more

I am appreciative that we did not have any cockroach encounters like it seems multiple guests had at this hotel. We almost didn't stay here for that reason, but I feel like all hotels have cockroach reviews. Woke up to what sounded like two people having a conversation right next to the bed. Realized it was our neighbors chatting in their room at 7:00am on a Saturday. The door between the rooms really let in a lot of sound. Just as I was starting to drift back to sleep, other doors started slamming (the echo in the hallways is not forgiving). Someone leaving the parking lot decided they wanted to let everyone at the hotel know they were leaving via their loud revving (which was not muffled at all by the balcony door we had). One night I walked out to get some grub and a police chopper was scanning the areas about 1/2 mile down. Upon asking, appears the area is not the best but the property itself is fine. In a great location in Bakersfield when traveling for business. Room was clean, Starbucks in the lobby, free parking and felt very safe. I appreciate the easy access to streaming and wifi was good. Food available on order from the kitchen or delivery services can bring right to your room. Refrigerator in room but no microwave. Microwave was available in lobby so not very inconvenient. Also lots of good seating options in the lobby. I would stay here again. read more

Stayed for one night with my husband and dog (there is a $50 dog fee and you would have to stay on the first floor). We checked in late at around 10pm, and it went super quickly. The staff who checked us in was super friendly! For breakfast, there is a restaurant with Starbucks coffee. It was more expensive than a regular Starbucks so beware of that. The staff at the restaurant were also super friendly and nice to talk to! Overall our room was nice and clean, and pretty much standard for a Courtyard. read more

I must say, I can't remember having worse. The bed was lumpy, slanted and incredibly soft like I was laying on a collection of old pillows. The fitted sheet was not fitted. The bedding was not soft. It was a cluster of everything that made the bed incredibly uncomfortable. Number two: the shower. Lacking pressure and heat. Enough said. I wouldn't stay at this location again. read more

This was a nice place to stay in Bakersfield. Clean, great AC, and rooms are very quiet. You don't hear hallway noise like at most hotels. The front desk employee went above and beyond helping me with my room booking. There should be more than one person working at a time. Wow! Booked way in advance, even called to confirm that they did not book us a handicapped suite. The assistant manager confirmed that it wasn't and we get to our room. She said that she just double checked and it's not a handicapped room. This is flat out an unethical business. WARNING: Worst night sleep and hotel ever. 1. The wall are paper thin making it hard to sleep at night. You can hear everybody next to you and that walks through the hallway 2. On top of that we heard the laundry machine and ice machine all night long 3. And if that wasn't enough the house cleaners came early at 8am and woke us up again. 4. Not even a bottle of water was given to us (good thing we brought our own) 5. Mattress was fine but looked questionable 6. While walking through the fitness area to our room there were cockroaches Had I known this in advance I would have paid less money and stayed at the nicer Double Tree down the street. Recommend not booking this in advance and checking out the room and comparing it with at least 1 other hotel. This hotel should be downgraded to a 1 star hotel. read more

We thought we had walked into another guest's room... - Fire alarm light flashing every so often during the night was a minor annoyance. - AC was not on when we arrived (high 90-degree weather) but was easy to operate; the back unit was very noisy (loose rattling that comes and goes). - Beds were okay, but a down/feather mattress-topper is a little too hot for the summers here... This past Thursday night I spent at this courtyard by Marriott Bakersfield. The room cost $175. In the morning a cup of coffee and a bagel cost me $11.50. I travel a lot and stay in many hotels and motels and they're all offer coffee and a snack in the morning if not a complete breakfast , at no additional charge. I asked the manager if this is standard. She said it is. I think it's just another way of a Greedy hotel owner getting more money out of us in this world of inflation we find ourselves. The one star provided has NOTHING to do with the staff, which was actually great. The one star has EVERYTHING to do with the room itself. A major part of paying for a hotel room, is to try and get a good nights rest. Things that are out of the Hotel's control are completely understandable, but that aside, they are responsible for the items provided inside the rooms themselves. Specifically, a fire detector that flashes so brightly, every 10 seconds, that it's almost impossible to sleep. Even putting a towel over the detector is not enough to block the flashing light. This could be a simple fix, but I'm sure they just went with the cheapest bid a contractor gave them, until enough people complain about it, to bring out changing for the better. Let's see if they correct the issue, otherwise, get ready for the bright lights of a fireworks show, all night long! read more

We ended up having to stay for our daughter's tournament last minute and we stayed here, they were very helpful over the phone as well as in person! I went out the night before, took some money out of my envelope and put it in the drawer at the hotel. I woke up late and had to check out in a hurry. After I left I realized I forgot my money in the drawer which was $1,600 of my vacation money. I know its my fault that I left my money in the room but I would like to think there are still honest/good people out there... I called the front desk and the house keeper nor the front desk turned anything in. Mind you this is all my money and this was the beginning of my trip. After informing the Gm she stated she would look into things and call me back. Never received a call back. I end up calling her back and she told me she was waiting for my call back. What!? Just looking for a good night sleep Checked in after dark and checked out while still dark. Did not see any of the property except the lobby and room. Low rating based only on our in ability to get sleep. Possibly the loudest motel I have ever stayed. Walls must be paper thin because we heard guests through every wall. Sirens, Harleys, horns, you name it and it kept us up. Also the lights are on motion sensor so the whole room lights up when someone goes to the bathroom. read more

This was a good hotel. I will not comment on price since I used my Marriott points for a free stay. My family stayed here for one night. The hotel is located around plenty of places to eat and shop. I liked the convenience of having Costco super close by to fill up on gas. The customer service was outstanding. The Starbucks in the lobby was convenient. The gym was nice it had two treadmills, an elliptical machine, and free weights. The dislikes. The room felt dated with the acoustic ceilings. My husband thought the bed was uncomfortable, I thought it was fine. No free breakfast. A car next to ours in the east parking lot was broken into. Their back window was smashed. I've been staying at this hotel a few days a year since 2019. My first visit here made me realize I needed and purchased a new mattress for home. The quality of their mattresses has always given me the best sleep & comfort outside of home. The staff has always been friendly & prompt no matter what time I arrive to check in or out. I checked just past 11 pm. to find a security guard on foot who is actually attentive to the premises. As I checked out just after 5 a.m., the same security guard is still on foot patrol the surroundings of the hotel. I feel completely safe not having to worry about my vehicle or catalytic converter disappearing during my stay. I will continue to visit this hotel in the future. Nicely renovated; friendly and helpful front desk staff. However, this was our third hotel in a six night trip and we travel with our rescue dogs. Unlike the previous two hotels on this trip our "pet room" had not been deep cleaned. My cat allergy was triggered, unlike in the two previous hotels. There was also an issue with a motorcycle "club" riding around the hotel parking lot (and adjacent hotels) frequently and well after midnight that made sleeping difficult. I spoke with Christina the manager about my horrible last night stay. I did not sleep at all because of the high temperature heat in the room. The air conditioning was not working. Now I need to stay one more night in Bakersfield again so I called the manager Christina. She did not apologize for my lack of sleep or lack of air conditioning. She didn't even offer me a discounted rate for another night. She offered a free dinner or a free breakfast. If you've been to Bakersfield it's high Triple degree weather during the day . Was only here for 1 night but was very happy with my stay. Clean and comfortable room. Just didn't dig the automatic lights on my middle of the night bathroom trip :/ But it was so quiet! I've never stayed in such a quiet hotel - I was worried because I'd forgotten my earplugs, but slept so soundly with no slamming doors or kids running down the hall like every other hotel I've ever been in. Breakfast is still hurting with covid procedures but the grab-n-go (mini water, granola bar, clementine, and small yogurt) was quick and the free coffee was nice (unlike the last Courtyard I stayed at in Redwood City, which charged me for a coffee I couldn't even drink). Parking was super convenient and I could see my car from my room, which had a small balcony with a screen door! Nice. It's 106 degrees on a Saturday. My family came from around the county for a 100th birthday party and chose to stay here for the swimming pool. We all have kids. Well, we are locked out of the pool as I type this because they decided to close the pool for cleaning..... Today..... On a Saturday..... In the middle of summer... There's no one cleaning the pool. The manager said they're almost done draining it.... It's full. They haven't started. There is nothing to do but sit here and sweat. Currently calling other local hotels to try and book a room just to use a pool. Update......... After crying (literally by our kids) they made accommodations for us to go next door for an hour to their sister property to swim. Many thanks. Easy to find. Clean rooms. Comfy bed. Efficient service. What you expect from a courtyard Marriott. Came out for a soccer tournament. 25 boys and their families... Apologies for our rowdiness :-) Even I couldn't take an afternoon nap when ALL the boys were at the pool, hollering up a storm. Boys will be boys. Didn't use their $10 breakfast buffet. Actually probably more convenient than going to the nearby Denny's or IHOP. We brought in our own pastries and kept them in our room mini fridge, saved us time & money and my family aren't big breakfast eaters anyway. There is free coffee at the lobby to fill up my travel mug on the way out. Always a plus :-) Convenient location. Across the street from CostCo to fuel up. Quick walk to Johns incredible pizza(kids fun zone place). different review. All in all.... Would I go back to this Marriott Courtyard? I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. I was able to book online for the same night and ended up extending my stay for a few days. Upon arrival, the front desk receptionist was helpful and quick to check me in. My king room was clean, spacious and overlooked the pool which was nice. Later on I moved to a 2 queen room with my sister. There is laundry onsite which was super helpful for me. You can get quarters and detergent from the front desk (detergent is expensive, better to buy your own elsewhere). Parking was easy and location is near many shops and restaurants. I would definitely come back if I am in the area again. read more
