Wow. Service Hardwood Floors (SHF) is a five star operation through and through. They exceeded my…read moreexpectations on all levels-- service, professionalism and results. I have worked with a lot of contractors through the years (as I rehab the old condo that I bought) and I can easily say that SHF is amongst the best team with whom I've worked. I had the unique experience of having the same floors worked on twice in one year so I can compare the work of two flooring contractors--apples to apples. My floors are complicated because my home is over 100 years old and there are no subfloors; the floors lie on a pretty peculiar structure. The first flooring company that I hired clearly did not know how to handle the job and the results were disastrous. Not only did the resulting floors have structural issues, the stain and finish were all wrong. The flooring team splashed stain on my walls and dripped polyurethane throughout my house! The floors looked terrible; all that money down the drain. When it was determined that my floors were too weak to be redone a second time, the only option was to have them all replaced. Enter Scott of Service Hardwood Flooring. Scott is absolutely amazing. He is professional, knowledgeable and clearly cares about his work. He walked me through the replacement and finishing process, step by step. I knew the job would be a tough one but Scott went the extra mile to make sure my floors went down correctly. He spent all morning helping me pick out just the right stain and didn't complain once that I was taking up his time. All he would say was, "Take your time. We want to get this right." He is a perfectionist and someone you can really trust to take care of your home. The end result with Service Hardwood Floors is brilliant, beautiful, structurally sound floors. Even my other contractors have been commenting on how beautiful the floors are! One went so far as to say, "These are the nicest floors I've seen." When I heard that, I was smiling ear to ear. Needless to say, I recommend Service Hardwood Floors without hesitation.

My wife and I recently decided to put down new flooring in our condo. We did the bedroom ourselves and were then convinced that the rest of the unit should be finished by professionals--not that we did a bad job, it was just much more difficult and took far longer than we anticipated. We got six quotes from reputable businesses, all of which fell within $100 of each other. What set SHF apart was their senior installer (and owner, I believe) Scott Callejo. He was polite and professional. He made sure he understood our vision. He explained, in detail, every step of his work process, from demolition to finishing touches. He complimented our effort on the bedroom floors and offered to fix up some of our small errors for no extra charge. He also discussed the variables that could increase cost and work time so there would be no surprises. Finally, he promised to leave our home clean at the end of every work day. Scott also said we could save money if I was home to help move furniture around. This was the week between Christmas and New Year's and I happened to be off work. We asked if he could come in the next day and do the job while I was home. Luckily, he was able to move his schedule around to accommodate ours. Scott was true to his word. The first day was only a half day (due to our short notice) but he and his staff were able to complete the demolition and still leave our home clean and orderly. To offset the time lost on the half day, Scott and his crew came early the next morning. I should mention that the rest of the crew had the same polite and professional demeanor; they were great. Anyway, I could not believe how fast and efficiently they worked. They actually finished the job that day. From getting a quote to the finished job, it was only three consecutive days. And our floors are beautiful. It's like we have an entirely new home. In short, Service Hardwood Floors delivered outstanding work. They were incredibly proficient and hard working. Their prices were competitive. And they were nice! I can't say enough good about them. Hire SHF.

I didn't use their service. I believe they are very competent and can do the job perfectly. It is…read morejust the quoting process that annoys me. The owner of this business can just be a bit more polite. I bought one small drapery that costs me $500, and they quoted me $400 for installation. I have no objection to the quote--it is a free market, so you can quote whatever you want. I replied him, trying to be polite (and hope he will send a lower quote, if possible), saying "this is too high for a small window, so thank you but I will pass". I think for a normal, polite person, they can just ignore my message if they don't want to lower the price. Or they can simply say something like "price not negotiable" or "have a good day". Surprisingly, they replied below: "You could have just ignored it. Thanks for making me pay for you to say no" Very rude. As a customer, I'm looking for services. I never expected that I will be educated by someone. This is like walking into Walmart and asking the price of an apparel, the staff tells you it is $100, then I said "oh that's too expensive", then the staff replied "you could have just put down the clothes without saying anything--just shut your mouth" I don't think you paid me anything, nor did I to you. Again, I hope you will be doing well in your business, and I don't doubt your professionalism. I am just writing down my current thoughts. Have a good day! Follow-up: the owner just replied me and apologized. He told me that Yelp charges them whenever we reply them. So the best way is not to respond, if you think the price is too high. I would accept his apology. You cannot expect anyone on Yelp to understand all the hidden fees charged in the system, so if that happens again in the future, hope the owner can explain it to the (potential) customers in a nice way

A new issue arose at my business this year so I called Oak Ridge Fence & Gate to see if they could assist because I was happy with their work that was done last year. When I called this time, I got Julie on the phone and she requested that we send her photos of the damage via text to which we did as she had requested. My assistant had a conversation with Julie and Julie told her that someone would be out at my business later that day or the following day to look at it in person and give us a quote for repairs. No one ever showed up. No one ever called and Julie never even confirmed she received the texted pictures. So since we heard nothing, we called Julie to follow up and to confirm whether or not she received the text/pictures. She was rambling on about the company moving locations or something like and that they would break more boards trying to repair the job and she eventually declined our job in a very unprofessional way, in our opinion. It sounded more like she had no clue on how to properly fix our problem. We feel in the very least Julie or a representative from Oak Ridge Fence & Gate could have acknowledged us or responded to the text we sent her per her request. We got nothing. No calls, no response, no one showed up. We found this to be highly unprofessional and we don't want to work with a company or a team who lacks communication skills.
