Barbells & BBQ - A Hidden Gem in a Food Truck!…read more What a fantastic and unexpected stop for dinner! My wife and I stumbled upon Barbells & BBQ while discussing where to eat, and I'm so glad we did. Sometimes the best meals come from unplanned detours, and this one did not disappoint. The menu is straightforward, but that's exactly what makes it shine. Instead of overwhelming you with endless options, they focus on doing a few things exceptionally well -- and it shows in the flavor and quality of every bite. My wife went with the Brisket Nachos, and they were phenomenal. Perfectly smoked brisket layered over crisp chips, cheesy goodness, and all the right toppings -- easily a dish I'd return for again and again. I chose the Brisket Sandwich paired with their Brisket Beans, and both hit the mark. The beans were some of the best I've had -- smoky, rich, and hearty. The sandwich was loaded with tender brisket; next time I'll just ask for a little extra BBQ sauce, but it was still a fantastic meal. The passion behind the food is clear, and even the owner mentioned they hope to make this spot a permanent home for the truck. I certainly hope so too -- because for a food truck, this one is at the top of the list. Lucky for me, they're only a few miles from home, which means I'll be back very soon. If you love BBQ, do yourself a favor and track them down -- your taste buds will thank you.

Taqueria Mi Ranchito popped up right down the street from us on the way home! We were tired of having to drive all the way down to 10th street and SW 59th. Sometimes that's just too far when you just want a good taco. The truck is located at the corner of Council and Hefner at the Hefner Stop gas station. Easy in and out. You can't miss it Now let me get to the food. For a food truck or even Mexican restaurant with the typical offerings of a food truck, this place was good. The burrito had a great ratio of meat, rice and beans. Definitely had more meat than I expected with great flavor. The taco platter was delicious. I definitely would recommend the carne asada and barbacoa. I didn't get to try the lengua because that's just not my thing haha Definitely a great stop for a quick bite! It's not the most amazing Mexican in the world, but it definitely satisfied the taste buds and we've found a staple food truck for tacos near home!

There is only 1 other taco truck in the city ranked on this level (see my parking lot taco reviews). The service is exceptionally quick as well as kind. They give you a beeper which is convenient while waiting in your vehicle. The ambiance is a typical parking lot. I will be coming back. Their carne asada tacos were packed full of beer (rarity) and you can buy 5 for $10. I highly suggest this Mi Ranchito if you are in a pinch for time or want a low effort high reward takeout for dinner.

I have spent the better part of the 2010s hunting this truck. I know they have a multitude of…read moresocial media options to find the trick and plan for where it will be...But why would someone hunt something if they have a tracking device attached to it? Where is the sport in that!? Every flavor on their menu somehow turns a different person into a hunter of doughnuts. Much like the astrological signs, each mini represents people born at different times in the year. Beware them however...treats this delicious can change a person... These sweet rolls of merriment have left an impression on me larger than Moby Dick left on Captain Ahab. My obsession steadily grows the more classic vanilla minis I have! I begin despising regular food and drink on account of it not being Metro Minis. My friends and family notice a change in me as I begin disappearing days or weeks at a time; all on a never ending quest to find and eat more of these fried balls of perfection. I actually once followed this truck for 30 miles on foot just for it to end up at Heard on Hurd near my home in Edmond! I could have just waited at home or checked social media to find out this information but I was too consumed in the hunt! The literal fry cooks working in this truck never make a single mistake. As far as I can tell they were actually put on this earth to fry cake doughnuts into an endless stream of awe. The days in which I can't find the truck feel so empty, so meaningless. I have but one purpose in life...to hunt these doughnuts. I will never yield...until a doctor inevitably tells me to stop eating 36 Metro Minis a day... at that point I'll dial it back to 18 or so...Needless to say I have a plan for the next 40 years of my life! My wife says the Bedrock Minis are delicious
