They had the most delicious raspberry danish and they carry freshly baked breads that make great toast and sandwiches.

Shady Tree Homestead is a hidden gem that I became aware of at a recent gun show in Augusta. They don't have an official retail store, but they have a heated shack that sits at the front of the property which houses all their freshly baked goods, freeze dried candies and farm fresh eggs. The shack is not manned and is trusted to the honor system. Baked goods are reasonably priced at $4. Fresh-baked bread is $6. Freeze dried candies are $3 and $6 depending on size. Granted these are prices at the writing of this review which could change if costs of goods increases. My wife and I had their freeze dried skittles which are phenomenal. The puff pastries and cream horns are incredibly yummy and not overly sweet. You can contact them and ask whether something is in stock or if they can set a few aside. Drops are done regularly and I recommend you follow their Facebook page to know when new drops occur. Facebook page is their main page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100080368232894

What an adorable cafe!…read more We stopped in before we headed home to have coffee and breakfast. We arrived at a quiet point in the morning rush, but they do get very busy! Service is friendly and fast though even when they're packed. I had a turmeric maple latte which was unique and delicious. Along with that I had the Mountain Mama sandwich which had an egg, hummus, goat cheese, and vegetables on a super soft English muffin. It was delicious! My husband had a hummus bagel with cucumbers and tomato and it was a great light start to the day. We also tried a ham and cheese croissant which was good. It was the softer bread style croissant and had chopped rosemary ham and cheese which was delicious, I only wished there was more of it! I brought a maple molasses cookie and a butterscotch cookie home. They were both so delicious and chewy! My only criticism is I wish there was a touch more salt, but I'm nitpicking. Highly recommend stopping in for a light breakfast or lunch, and taking some baked goods for the trail!

The wedding we attended featured them, and after trying a few, I knew I had to visit the shop myself. They're perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and genuinely some of the best I've had. Their coffee is solid--definitely the best you'll find in this small town--and they offer a surprising variety of avocado toast options, all fresh and really thoughtfully put together. On top of that, the people who work here are so kind. It feels like the sort of place where everyone is happy to see you walk in. If you're passing through, or in town for an event like we were, this bakery is absolutely worth a stop.
