I was working in Sante-Anne-de-Bellevue and needed some snacks. Since there weren't any Dollaramas…read moreor supermarkets within walking distance, I opted to drop by the Couch-Tard depanneur. I generally avoid going to depanneurs unless absolutely necessary since the prices are generally more expensive than items I can purchase elsewhere (Dollarama and grocery stores). I parked my car in the front and then entered. I wasn't sure what I wanted and walked around. I looked at the large bottles of pop and they averaged around $3 (and over) for a 2L bottle. They had a special for two 2L bottles of Coke (any flavour) for $5 so I opted to go for this. I looked around for some chips and candy but decided not to buy that and only to purchase the soft drink. As I lined up, I noticed that there was a card machine near the cash. I asked the cashier whether they accepted credit cards and was informed that they did. He tallied up my purchase of the two 2L bottles of Coke. He asked me if I wanted a bag and I mentioned that I didn't. He then mentioned the total and it was slightly over $7. I informed him that the sign at the refrigerator indicated that the Coke was two for $5 and another sign showing a little over $3 each (with taxes and deposit added, the $5 price-tag would have only been ~$5.85 and nowhere over $7.00). He turned around and looked for the sign from behind the cash and I mentioned that I could bring him the sign. I went around as he looked at me and I pulled out the sign from the inside of the refrigerator which indicated the $5 price for two bottles. I handed him the sign. He then punched some things into the cash register as I stared at the cash register and noticed a posting for the Quebec price accuracy consumer protection law. Without me saying anything, he told me that the price would be $0.10. I actually didn't care and was expecting to pay the advertised price but was pleasantly surprised to have been given the new price due to the error and Quebec's law without having to asked for the Quebec law to be applied. Since the price was only $0.10 (for the deposit of the bottles), instead of paying with my credit card, I paid with cash since I did have some loose change on me.
