Today we spent a delightful day in the impossibly quaint and beautiful Cotswolds area, and were especially excited to visit the Cotswolds Falconry Centre. They serve as the home to nearly 100 birds of prey and hold three-times-daily flying demonstrations with eagles, owls, falcons, and other majestic birds. They hold educational programs specializing in certain birds - if we'd planned ahead we would have done the "owl evening" where you get to hold the birds. As it was, we attended the flying demo where the birds swoop far and wide and return to the handler for a snack. These awesome birds are up close and personal, and are quite impressive. The centre has a small gift shop with birding souvenirs, falconry supplies, and some snacks for the humans. It's right next to the Batsford Arboretum, which is also a nice stop. The website gives directions and a map, which are definitely needed, and there are "falconry centre" signs in Moreton-In-Marsh to help you find this remote and charming site. read more
