I would never rehire and or recommend Scott as a lawyer to anyone close to me or any other citizen…read more Scott is extremely condescending and the most unprofessional lawyer I have ever hired for the following reasons. - Every time I communicated with Scott, he spoke to me as if to questions my intelligence and or demean me as my representative. For example, I hired him to help me win custody of my child at every turn he only itemized issues that worked against me and never worked to build my case in my favor. I am not a wealthy person by any stretch of the word and I paid a lot of money for him so that he could speak down to me like I was an idiot - When we had a hearing in court I asked him if there was anything I needed to prep for and he told me it nothing big, it's just a hearing. When we were in court, Scott called me to testify. I was in shock because he never told me that he was going to do this. I was never prepped. So I had to make sure I itemized my entire grievance in a matter of seconds. He also questioned portions of my testimony, I think, to make a case, however, he did not read over my case because his dates were wrong for the point he was trying to make. Long story short, that "just a hearing" was a huge part of my case because it was to determine in what state the custody battle would take place. My ex-spouse won jurisdiction which was a huge blow to me and it hurt. Scott essentially "winged it" and only I had to pay. - When asking for modifications to my custody agreement, Scott made me feel as if I was obligating him to do something that was not his job or what I employed him for. He was no consistent with replies to my emails. And again, when we spoke on the phone he would speak as he always did to me in a loud and aggressive tone for which I had to stop him and ask him "why are you speaking to me like this? I am not a lawyer. I need you to break this down for me.". I immigrated to the U.S. without friends and family. I joined the military and am now a veteran of the U.S Army. All of that considered, I would never recommend Scott Carter to my military brothers and sisters or any other minority group. With my background, I don't come from money nor do I have massive amounts of money to spend freely. I spent a lot of money to hire Scott Carter so he could condescend to me and question my intelligence, not thoroughly represent me in court, and in my opinion, get an easy pay day out of me. Personally I do not know Scott, my opinion is strictly professional and I stand behind my assessment. My custody battle was for the most important person in my life and Scott was not there to help me at all. He is not someone you want to represent you in court.

When I told her that she was fired she continue to argue with me and I told her that's okay it really does not matter because you are fired she laughed at me and then said good luck firing me. When we went before judge bunch she jumped in her to her normal dialogue of rapid fire talking and then stated that I wanted to request a new attorney in a sardonic manner. I simply stated to the judge "your honor I'm an emergency dispatch break/ fix technician and I have requested since this case has started that my correspondence be communicated with email because I'm not always around my phone nor am I always available as I'm usually dispatched to rule areas with no cell phone service I believe we have had a communications breakdown and I would like a new attorney" The judge asked Miss battles if she conferred and she agreed. I want any perspective clients to ask themselves the simple question if while someone is doing a job this poorly as a public defender why would you pay a $3,500 retainer fee for them to be your defense attorney? I Believe Miss battles gets too emotionally involved in her cases and I think that this stems to something of a personal nature is to why she's took this trade up in the first place. If you're concerned about having a good defense for a criminal case the last thing that you want going on is to have your own attorney associate your case with their own pre-existing traumas because that is a conflict and someone with this much power and control issues should not be practicing law instead they should be seeing a therapist so they can work around their issues in order to become a more complete human being which will lead to them being a more productive civilian.
