This costco needs to practice better social distancing. The checkout lines at the register have people on top of each other. They have plenty of lanes not open but instead the registers that are open are right next to each other with no distance between customers. I mentioned this to an acting supervisor and she just gave me a vague yes and I guarantee they did not make any changes. Covid 19 is rising in this area. First off I go in there to get my mom a chicken and tomato's 2! Things and this lady at cashier said she can't ring me up for what bc my mom is disabled and can't go in because of covid and her lack of stability? Like what can I do I tried explaining very nicely and this lady was giving me a hard time about it I felt disrespected in a way and I will not let that happen. I guess next time I will have to physically carry my disabled mother in with a sanitation suit on just so she could be there to pay with her card. I know what a good Costco's is like to go to. This one is not it! The one I use to go to is in Winchester Virginia and that is how a Costco's shopping experience should be...Friendly people, customer service, relaxed and calm atmosphere. This one I witness another man pushing another mans cart away right in front of him. Angry people in there, rude,rushy. I just wanted to get out there and get home. I love what Costco's offer with the food, veggies and fruit, but it is really not a good experience to go to this one in Nanuet. I hate this place. The parking is awful, the checkout lines are ridiculous and the rude people that crash their carts into yours or park them in the middle of an aisle so that you can't pass make it the most awful shopping experience ever. If you know your prices you will find that the majority of stuff you get there can be purchased elsewhere for less without having to invest in a separate storage space for the stuff you have to buy in bulk. This is a great place for people who are too lazy to check out the weekly ads in the local supermarket, but they pay for their laziness. And look out when they put out the free samples! Adults and kids knock you over to grab stuff with their dirty hands and have their mid-day meals at the sample carts when all you might want is a taste of something you'd rather not buy blindly. The produce is gross and half the time the bananas give off heat from being packed so tightly on display. Customers switch fruit with their dirty hands from one container to another, usually damaging the delicate fruit in the process. Maybe they should install hand-cleaning gadgets around the store, although those that should use it the most, won't, I'm sure. read more

I love this Costco. It's close to my house but unfortunately because of the measles outbreak I have been afraid to visit. One of my worst Costco experiences EVER. My whole family has been very committed to Costco for like ever, even with all these BJ's opening in a 5 mile radius around us. I get it, it's a wholesale place and it was also a Sunday so there's going to be crazy people, but at least the staff could get their grip together. Finding what I needed to buy was a smooth journey until I had to pay. I also found it rude that the staff who were passing out samples all had a snippy attitude. One lady passing out the Hershey's chocolate sample today would give handfuls out to certain customers and told them to come back for more and when I went up to her expecting the same and I'm given just one and then she starts introducing all the flavors to me and I find a better one and I trade that one for another and she starts having a fit with me telling me I can't put the chocolate back on the tray basically because its against health regulations when they're all individually sealed and wrapped in paper. I felt like it was an excuse to say I was dirty or something. Anyways, I go to check out and this cashier named Claunine, I believe just gave my family and I an attitude right away for NO REASON. She manages to throw the divider sticks for the conveyor belt in my direction and almost hits me. Then she takes our items out and just throws each and every item onto the other belt and after she's done, just waits for me process the payment without any notice and doesn't help to put my items back in the cart. I saw her with my own eyes helping the customers in front of us and after us. Once the receipt prints out, yanks it out and just hands it and goes onto the next customer. I asked her what her name was and she just looks at me and flips her name tag over like a bitch at that point. She is also unprofessional and starts telling the customers something in regards to me and I realize because they are all looking at me multiple times. I never had a more awful experience in my life and it's really upsetting. It didn't help due to the fact that once I found the supervisor and explained to her what happened, she didn't give me an apology and instead just told me she would talk to her, but who knows if she ever will since she didn't go up to her at the time and pull her over to the side or take any action about it. I was shopping with my family and we honestly felt personally attacked with such a bad experience. This was a long review, but it gives me a sense of relief to be able to post reviews in order for the company to take action or for customers to know what kind of environment they are getting into. read more

The Tire Center is bananas. I just bought tires from there so I can't comment on the quality of the tires, but the service is ridiculous. I called to confirm that the tires had come in, then they said "Come right over and we'll change your tires" (they couldn't take appointments because the manager wasn't in). I went over there, waited in line for about 45 minutes as one cashier slowly helped each person, and then was told it would take 2 hours for the tires to be done. So I left and came back 2 hours later. There was one person on the line in front of me when I showed up, but again one cashier was there and somehow it took him 30 minutes to help that one person, while I was just waiting to get my keys. Then when it was my turn he answered the phone, asked me to wait, and helped some customer on the phone find tires online. After I finally got my keys, he said to come back after 25 miles to have the tires re-torqued. I said "what?" and he said "Oh, don't worry, it takes a few minutes, you won't have to wait." I laughed but agreed to come back. I show up the next day to have the tires re-torqued and the guys in the garage said "it only takes a few minutes, you just have to go inside to get the paperwork, then come back out and we will do it real quick." So I went inside to the Tire Center, where there was a line of about 15 people, with only one cashier again. I said to the guy at front, "I'm just here to get my tires re-torqued, the guys in the garage said I had to come here to grab the paperwork." The guy looked at me and said "Yeah...but you have to get in line first." I laughed and said "well, that's ridiculous" and walked out. Luckily I went back to the guys in the garage and told them and they were able to just re-torque the tires right there. I didn't fill out any paperwork so I have no idea if that will be a problem. I literally wasted almost an entire day and then had to go back the next day and deal with that crap. I can't believe how bonkers this place is. read more

I love this Costco. I grew up in Nanuet just minutes away from this location, so all our grocery shopping was done primarily here. We don't like regular supermarkets because we've been spoiled by Costco! First of all, the location is convenient. Right off of the Thruway, Rte 59, N. Middletown Rd. The employees are friendly and some of the old-timers recognize my family because we have been shopping here for years. The pharmacists and the opticians know us too, some by name. I know one of the common complaints about the warehouse experience is that it's impersonal, but I feel quite the opposite here. I won't discuss all the great perks of being a Costco member in general like the huge variety of quality products they carry and the amazing return policy, but if you don't know about that stuff you should check out the website. There are plenty of parking spots- as long as you don't expect to park right near the entrance you will always find a spot. It does get crowded especially on the weekends. However they have a lot more checkout lanes open than they do on the weekends so you don't really wait all that much longer than any other time. Gas is open to all, and prices are comparable to NJ prices usually, though they only accept ATM/debit cards, Costco Cash and, AMEX I believe. read more

Don't Trust Costco! In April 2018, while shopping at our local Costco, my wife was injured when a box of merchandise fell and struck her on the head. The store management acknowledged then, and afterwards, that the merchandise was stacked too high. We incurred medical expenses of over $15,000, about $5000 of which was not covered by our insurance. Now, after over a year of delays and excuses, Costco's claims administrator, an outfit called Gallagher Bassett, is offering to reimburse us only for the $5000+ of our out-of-pocket expenses. We pointed out to them that our health insurance carrier had a lien of the first $10,000+ of any reimbursement, to recoup what they paid for her care, so we would have to turn that money over to the insurance company and keep nothing. Their response several times was to say that we do not have to pay back the insurance company because they will never know. Of course, that is insurance fraud, and we told them so, but they still said the same thing. It is appalling that a company like Costco, after admitting repeatedly that they were negligent in stacking the merchandise too high, will not make good on its promises, and responds by suggesting that we commit fraud. The BEST TIRE CENTER in New York State! Been a Costco member for almost 20 years and was cautious of using Costco Tire Centers after a bad experience with the Westbury Costco Tire Center. Stood in line with a gentleman who told me he'd been going to this Tire Center for *10* years and that Berlin is amazing. I met Berlin and Spencer, who are above and beyond professionals. Because this Tire Center is so popular, there is high turnover with the inventory so the tires are new. You can read the date when the tire was manufactured by looking at the last 4 digits on the inner rim of the tire following "DOT" (short for Department of Transportation). For example, if the inner rim of the tire reads, "DOT XXXX XXXX 3515", then the "3515" means that the tire was manufactured on the 35th week of 2015. Sometimes through Living Social or other websites you may get an offer for Costco membership you can't refuse. You get a cash card and coupons that pay for the membership. I usually go for two items (one of which my dogs love), a rotisserie chicken, and milk. The chickens at $4.99 are much cheaper, and much bigger than supermarket chickens. There are also six ovens going so a chicken is almost always available. Many times, throughout Costco food samples are being given out . There you are with the one chicken (for your dog) and you see long lines with full wagons. You ask the person ahead of you (with 100 items in their cart) if you can go in front of them. Their selective hearing kicks in and you never get an answer. That of course is not Costco's fault. But the wait is usually less than 15 minutes as the cashiers are very fast. read more

During the Covid pandemic, Costco has been doing a good job to maintain its standard except today. I usually lay out my stuffs with the barcode on the top so that the cashier just scan them without touching them. Today's morning the two ladies -the cashier and the helper- forced me to lay my stuffs down on the register. The cashier, Claunie said that it was a must that I had to lay my stuffs down on the register. In this case, two people had touched my stuffs, and I did not need the helper to take care of my stuffs. I prefer her to help other counters/customers who had a lot of stuffs. My stuffs in the buggy was not that much; it was only one layer with barcode facing up, and nothing on top of each other. I made the cashier's job easy and fast so that she could help other customers behind me faster. I did not know what the reason was. I would guess whether the cashier was lazy or can't count, or the helper would like to keep her job and looked like she was busy. The question is whether the two ladies are NECESSARY to touch my stuffs during this pandemic in order to be looked busy and functioned. I have been in many Costco stores (Nevada, California, Washington, New Jersey, and Montreal Canada) and never had a problem with my stuffs in the buggy. The people there are nicer and not rude compared to Nyack Store. I should have asked for manager about this matter, but I was in hurry at that time. read more

This Costco is awful. Maybe it's the area, but every time I come here I have a bad experience. This Costco attracts brazen, rude, and confrontational people. Bad and aggressive drivers leave and enter. Queuing for gas make you feel like you're fighting for a lane change on a major thruway during rush hour. I'll never step foot here again. read more

I went there yesterday to purchase a new IPhone Max and was there for three hours only to find out the phone was defective! The employee does not know what she is doing or how to set up a new phone. The volume was so low you couldn't hear anything and she told me once the phone had all the updates it was going to be fine. So I waited up to three hours and nothing. I finally told her I wanted a refund and to make sure Verizon did not charge me for the new phone I never had possession off. She called a number and no one was talking with her. Thank God I had the number to Verizon and quickly got someone from customer service. This young lady needs to get better training because I was exhausted when I left there. Costco really has to step up on their customer service. The tire center has no system making AVERAGE waiting time for a change ranging between an hour and a half and 3 hours. Appointments don't help because they are just disregarded. The wait for the check out is also long. There is no option for express making everything a wait. read more

One of the staff that so rude and disgusting is Nidya. She acts like she is doing you a favor and liked she was the owner of Costco. She never smiled and her mouth always chewing the gum. She never say hello nor greeting the customer. When she talks, she always yelling and very loud. That is very disrespectful. She seemed like an unhappy person, like her life full of problem and does not enjoy her job. While she is taking care of a customer, she does it unwillingly and while talking with her friends instead of talking to the customers. She never respects the customers, no eye contact, no greeting, no communication, no respect. That is her attitude. She thought that she was in so high position and the customers are lower than her. Who are you do you think? You are not a professional or a celebrity. She worked like a robot or liked a machine. What I like from this store is the location and the fresh seafood. I used to stop by the food court when I shop at Costco. But after certain time I got bored because the variety of the food they sell are the same after so long time. The taste of the frozen yogurt so average, also they keep changing the staff with the new staffs. Which lack of experience in how to handle food and how to treat customers with respect. Priscillia is the worst staff at the food court I ever met, she was so rude and I don't know if she has a problem with her hearing or she couldn't distinguish which one strawberry and which one is chocolate. I ordered chocolate sundae but she gave strawberry, after complained and she gave a new cup but with the same strawberry and not chocolate. I want chocolate, not strawberry. She answered angrily with higher tone: this is chocolate. She seemed annoying. She never looked happy when she is working. Maybe she shouldn't work in the food court if she is unable to provide good service to customer. She caused low star. Other than that, generally I like to shop at Costco because the quality of the items are good and the return policy is very generous. Some staff are friendly and some are ignorance and arrogant.
