We managed to get a table inside, and decided on light snack of a teacake and to sample the Tregothnan tea (Cornish tea). The peppermint tea was light and refreshing, just perfect for a hot summer's day. The kitchen inside was a hive of activity, as more and more people descended on the tea rooms. We would have liked to sample more of the menu, but sadly we had a long journey ahead of us that day, but there's always the next time we visit Boscastle!

The service was lovely and so was the food. They don't have their own website and there was no menu available online, but they mostly do traditional English fare. It was indeed quite pleasant; the teas and coffees are excellent and there's a good range of light meals, afternoon teas and all-day breakfasts. I think it's licensed to sell alcohol too. The vegetarian all-day breakfast I had was very good and actually appears to be vegan unless you add an egg. There are large omelettes too, macaroni cheese, cottage pie, home made soup, steak and kidney pie, sandwiches and several other dishes (there's a blackboard on the wall showing some 'extras'). I noticed some delicious looking cakes and desserts as well but didn't try one myself! Most of the tables seat four and have yellow plastic cloths. The waitress who served us was fairly helpful but could have been a shade more welcoming. There doesn't seem to be a disabled toilet anywhere; there is one 'unisex' one upstairs which was clean apart from the hand towel hanging on a rail. There was no hand-drier nor any paper towels so this is something which could be improved upon, in my view. It's open seven days a week and easy to find, being in the main shopping street.
