I took my five year old in for her first haircut before the start of the school year; when I called to schedule I was very clear that this would be a simple trim for a five year old so I did NOT need a top tier stylist, and was quoted $20-30. My child's hair is shoulder length, was not washed or dried or even styled by the stylist, it was sprayed with a spray bottle and a maximum of five snips were made, and she was done. It looked no different than when we arrived. It ended up being $50. I called and was told I didn't specify the stylist level so received services from a top tier stylist. I chalked it up to a possible miscommunication. My 15 year old then made an appointment for a color, cut and style, we were VERY careful and detailed, not only because of our prior experience/lesson, but because she was saving her own money for this. I told them this when we scheduled our appointment, and was explicitly quoted a total of $90 for various services by a newer stylist. She went in for a color consult, and all seemed on track. She was then charged $197 for services at the end - over TWICE what she was quoted and saved for. I called, again, and spoke to the stylist who explained she never talked about pricing with my daughter and essentially that regardless of what we were quoted on the phone, she charges for services rendered. She offered for me to speak with the manager, but repeated that she must be paid for services rendered. I was too frustrated to continue so said no thanks and reiterated how disheartening this was for my daughter. After giving myself some time, I called back and requested to speak to the manager, they took my name and number and said they would be in the next day and would call back then. I have not received any reach out. As someone who came from a low income family, considers trips to the salon a luxury or treat, and whom is very conscientious of what I spend, in addition to us being very clear we needed a true close estimate for my teenage daughter to save for, this is frustrating, disheartening, and seems to make going to a good quality salon inaccessible for everyone. When people ask for pricing, they should be aware for some, that is crucial. Not everyone has the funds to spend TWICE AS MUCH as they planned for. And the cold, dismissive, and seemingly careless tone when confronted with that by the salon and stylists is just another let down. EVERYONE deserves to enjoy a day at the salon, even people who have to scrimp and save, and ask VERY SPECIFICALLY what it will cost so they CAN AFFORD a special treat and to FEEL SPECIAL. We've gone to Signatures many times over the years. I don't know what has changed, but this is enough to not return when we literally can't do anything to ensure we have the funds and know what we will be charged.

They ganged up and tried to say it was my fault and that they weren't going to refund me. They said the only thing they can do is to have me come in and they give me a free manicure. I researched the issue and the issue was with the gel they used. It was expired. I had to practically yell at them to give me a refund and eventually got it after about 3 months. Then we called Great Clips and they got her an appointment for a formal style. When we arrived and checked in, we over heard one of the stylists have to go in the back, and ask our stylist if she would do my daughter's style, which in turn she said, "she guessed she would." We scheduled this style over a week before to make sure there was a stylist available. When the stylist called my daughter's name and we both walked up, she very loudly said, "uh oh, there's mom too." We got seated and my daughter showed the stylist an example picture of what she would like done to her hair. The stylist then told my daughter, not suggesting or even kindly advising, but repeatedly and very sternly scolding her, as why her hair should not be damp and it should not have been washed because now she will have to blow dry it and would only take her longer to do so. Again our first professional hair style, good advice, but not executed even remotely kindly. We spent the next 3 very long hours listening to the stylist reprimand my daughter for not paying attention to the stylist stories about herself or for looking at her phone. At one point she threatened to smack my daughter's hand if she looked at her phone again. She greatly embarrassed us both by asking personal questions regarding our finances, while other customers were getting hair cuts as well. The stylist not only completely disrespected and disregarded any type of personal boundaries verbally, but physically as well. She pulled on my daughter's ear, flicked her head, nudged her face, and hit her arm at one point. And to top all of this off, she did not style my daughter's hair as she had requested and showed her examples of. We had asked her to stop pinning her hair up about halfway through as it was not as requested, but the stylist ignored the requests and continued to style as she liked. To the point we had to go home, take all the pins out the stylist put in her hair, brush it out, and make shift style it the best we could before her prom. Unfortunately we can not go back in time for that night over again. But I had contacted the corporate office to receive a cheesy response saying the owner would contact me in a timely manner. I have left messages for the owner to contact me with no response. I do not recommend Great Clips to anyone wishing for a formal style.
