I was very impressed when I first walked into for a nose piercing because the staff was friendly, seemed professional, and efficient. But when the piercer could not attach the ball to the hoop and instead just tried squeezing the ends together, she told me it should be fine and I wouldn't be able to change it for 8 weeks minimum. I was worried because it seemed to be stuck on the end of my nose instead of actually inside my nose, but I went into the store every couple weeks and they reassured me that they wouldn't be able to do anything until the 8 weeks of healing had finished. The reason I went to have it checked every couple weeks was because it would swell up, and at first I thought it was an infection due to jumping into the Brisbane River, which probably did not help with the healing, but they told me to just continue applying salt water to it 3x a day, which I followed religiously.
Well it's been 8 weeks and I went in on to have it changed, but they said that because of the improper way it had been sitting for the 8 weeks, the piercing was stuck and actually not completely pierced, so it had healed over the piercing and they couldn't get the hoop out. They told me I would need to visit a GP to have it removed because they didn't want to be responsible for injuring it more.
I went to the GP and asked what they could do, and they informed me that I would need to make an appointment that would cost a couple $100 as well as take a couple hours since they would need the nurse and doctor together to work on the procedure.
I am very unhappy with this experience since I thought I was following the direction of the piercers. I have attempted to work out a situation of reimbursement, but they got defensive. read more
