Very clean rooms and efficient staff. Nothing too spectacular but they get the job done.

Tickets cannot be booked in advance but are very easy to find even during high season. Once you arrive at the port of Palau, you will notice a wide offering of ferry companies that connect to La Maddalena. The fares are more or less the same, but we opted for Delcomar because they have more frequent crossings and, depending on the time of the year, they also run several promos. Furthermore, the Palau ticket office is conveniently open every day from 6.00 a.m. to midnight. Tickets are very affordable: we were a large group with three children and a minivan and got a great deal. Ferries depart every 30 minutes or so, so you just have to show up in front of the dock and follow instructions. The crossing takes approximately 15 minutes but we truly enjoyed it while sitting at the main deck- we got a fantastic view of the clear ocean waters and the first glimpses of La Maddalena, after which we rushed downstairs to retrieve our car and leave. Once you arrive at the port, things move pretty fast so I strongly recommend to be already inside the car to allow for a smooth disembarking.

Although there is a jack for headphones, no headphones are handed out on the journey, so you have to listen to everything on the overhead speaker. The speaker is a bit crackly so it's a bit hard to understand if a foreign language is a second language to you. There is no guide in English - French, German, Italian, and Spanish only. One star off because that was a bit inconvenient, even though my French is quite good, understanding it on a garbled speaker was quite a challenge. Another star off because when we stopped at the Place D'Austerlitz for photos, the driver said we would leave in 15 minutes. I was back in 10 but the train had already left. So I had to take another one back =\
