Since FedEx, DHL and UPS are *heavilly* tax-loaded to undermine their reach, Correios pretty much owns document, letters and parcel operations throughout.
They tend to the expensive side of prices. But despite that, since it IS governmental, shortcomings and inefficiencies abound: you'll spend at least 20 minutes in a line here, they always will try to push you a costier fare option, and they won't teach you about cheaper delivery options.
Desk clerks are always courteous and patient, but that's not enough to compensate for a inefficient monopoly practice.
