Even though I HATE this theater I go to it more than Century 16 because A. I am closer to this location B. It's 4 dollars for students all the time C. They have an electronic ticket buying system inside that none of the Plebeians who go there know about so you can ignore the lines and just go use your plastic to buy tickets AND if you are cheap and sneaky you can buy discount military/senior tickets and nobody will check. :) That's a lot of positives for this place. Here's what is really wrong with it: It is dirty and gross and the staff are disgusting, piggish, immature boys. I have no clue why the management hired or does not fire these kids (some of whom are not kids) but they should. They shout obscenities, flirt with female customers - they just add to the layer of grime there. Everything the other reviewer, Johnnie E, reports is accurate and I second her complaints. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot! Someone was murdered here last year over some stupid verbal insult and so now they have 3 cops on the weekends at all times and signs that say "No Gang Attire" In conclusion: Go there if you are a cheap skate who can handle bad service and dirt and possibly death. read more

It's a bit odd for me to give a cinema four stars, especially when said cinema has no competition. There is a dollar cinema that I have to be desperate to go to, and the Century 16. Both the Starplex and the Century 16 offer pretty much the same movies, same ridiculously expensive concession, and comfy seats. The Starplex's tickets are cheaper. There tends to be a bit of a...ghetto atmosphere here---kids left uncontrolled, adults texting, talking and general rudeness. No one seems capable of taking their trash with them as well. The facility, despite all this, is newish and maintained. Screens are good sizes. I wish the two cinemas didn't carry the same movies, but choice and availability probably determine this. After all this, I suppose price and distance have to be your determining factor--it sure isn't who is playing what since their marquees are often identical. Corpus seems to be about ten years behind the curve when it comes to restaurants and entertainment. Based on availability, both cinemas are an oasis in a huge void. read more

This theater is a dump. Very dirty. I went with my family for a 3:30 showing on a Monday afternoon, which was not busy at all. Even the restrooms were a mess. If it was late on a Saturday and they had been super busy, I could maybe understand, but mid-afternoon on a Monday?? I don't get why it was so filthy in there. I am really surprised at how much this theater has improved. It's been over a year since we came here. We stopped because the place was so filthy. Today we went to see Hercules, and the other theater on SPID did not have the times we needed. So we took a chance. We're glad we did. The matinee tickets were only $4.50 each. The concessions are highway robbery, but that's the way theaters are. The theater was very clean. The carpets had clearly been shampooed. It smelled fresh inside. The floor in the theater was NOT sticky, and the seats were clean. So were the bathrooms. When the movie ended, there was a cleaning crew that came in immediately, complete with mops! I HATE sticky floors, so I was happy to see that they mop in between showings. Sticky floors make my skin crawl, just thinking about what lurks down there in the dark. Eeeek! Now, this may have been a fluke, so I give them only 3 stars. We don't go to movies much anymore, but we will go back when another movie interests us to see if they keep it up. read more

Doesn't pass the smell test for me. They could take some lessons from Movies, Inc. in Calallen. I agree with the reviewer on cleanliness - it's terrible. Needs renovation and carpets pulled out. Although people say this place is ghetto it is cheaper than century and has way better seats. For some reason cloth seats gross me out, starplex has leather like seats all which have arm rests that u can move up and down and reclining seats. At century you dont get both. read more

This place is complete trash. Went on Easter Day to see a movie with my family. They were closed for reasons they couldn't say. Save your money and your time choose another theatre. Me and my boyfriend was traveling to corpus christi this past weekend. went to see Get Hard, parking was horrible due to the carnival going on in the next parking lot, i thought i was gonna die for a second trying to pull out of the spot. the establishment is nice, staff are friendly, they offer military discount. which is not alot as usual, but hey saving is saving. what give it a five star is the chair in there actually lean back, it makes you feel more comfortable sitting, slightly leaning back while watching a movie read more

A while ago one of the managers reached out to apologize for our previous experience and said they would make an effort address our concerns. Next time we went, the entire place seemed a little more 'in shape', and clean. Theaters were comfortable and didn't have any strange odors :) Keep up the good work and improvements, I'm sure we're not the only ones who appreciate the effort! read more

Okay so I watch the equalizer it was really good ‼ the only thing I didn't like they did not have enough workers !!! you got your tickets inside ,the way in the long line at the waiting for popcorn and then have to another one for tickets and it's inside and they had no organization at all ! It was a big bunch of people that's unacceptable !! you need to hire more people and I asked they were hiring ! I really like this theater even though it's a little outdated. All of their prices are reasonable even at the snack bar. Me and the wife love getting the #4 (large drink & large popcorn) and it usually comes with a free candy. The seats nice and comfortable for a big boy like myself. We gladly drive across town to watch movies at this theater. It's always nice and cool in the theaters and I love that, since this Texas Heat is always blazing. The IDX screen and sound is a plus too! read more

I was visiting corpus for a couple of days. While I was up there, we went to this theater twice. Both times, I had horrible experiences. First I will start with the positives. The tickets are cheap. Like really cheap. Second, the staff are nice and helpful. However the negatives are big enough to ruin my experience. First the theater smells horrible. Once you go through the doors to go to your screening, the smell invades your nostrils. I had a hard time focusing on the movie because of this. This was the biggest issue. The first night we thought it was just that one screen. The next night we went into another theater and it had the same smell. Second the picture was dark. Like really dark. It was hard to make out certain scenes sometimes because of this issue. Those issues made it where I couldn't focus on the movie, thus ruining my movie experience. I would find another theater if your looking to see a movie. read more

You get what you pay for with the low price of a ticket at this cinema. An awful smell lingers in the theatre, as they only have one working snack bar (as long as it isn't raining). The ceiling leaks during storms so if you're trying to enjoy a movie on a rainy day, look elsewhere. Both times that I have gone through 2017-2018, I had to refund my tickets for the terrible experience. Btw, their refunds do not include the convenience charge for purchasing tickets in advance. And each time, the manager has offered expired coupons for candies/popcorn in hopes that I will come again. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MANAGER...RAFAEL Upon arriving at the ticket podium, I was informed the movie I'd purchased tickets for was not showing due to theater issues. The ticket taker radioed over to the manager. I was directed to the customer service counter in the lobby to receive a refund. I was disappointed but not upset at this point. Being in the customer service industry myself, I understand issues arise from unforeseen circumstances. This was not the theaters fault. I walk over to the unattended service counter and a concession stand attendee comes over. She informs me I'd been misinformed and I'd have to go to the front box office for a refund. I return to the ticket podium. After radioing someone again for clarification, she tells me I will indeed have to go to the front box office for a refund. I inform her of the long line and how I felt I'd been inconvenienced enough already. I'd purchased my tickets online, planned my entire morning around a 12:10 show time and drove across town to make it there. I did not feel it fair to have to stand in line for a refund. She follows me to the front. I walk out front and notice there is ONE box office clerk. There was ONE person distributing tickets to a long line of people. The ticket taker knocks on the door to the box office. After briefing the clerk, the ticket taker pokes her head out the glass door and tells me the clerk will be right with me. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder where the manager is in all of this because these two associates seemed pretty intent on resolving a minor issue at this point. Finally an older male appears. It's the manager, Rafael. He motions to me and addresses me, "Are you the one waiting on a refund?" " Yes," I replied, assuming he was there to resolve the issue. He turns inside so I follow him in. Once inside, his intent was clear and it was NOT to spare me any further inconvenience. He had an intense look and HE seemed upset. He proceeded to point me to the back of the line because there were other customers waiting to purchase tickets. He was confrontational and unapologetic. He even said if I was unhappy with his resolution, he would have to ask me to leave. The movie not showing was not his fault. The misinformation from the ticket taker of where to direct me (that was provided through the radio from the manager), the unattended Customer Service counter in the front (which provided no such thing), the long line due to understaffing in the front office box, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, his attitude and decision on how to "confront" an inconvenienced customer is ALL Rafael's fault. He was already at the box office. There were several other empty box office stations. He could have simply signed into one of them. He could have exchanged tickets for an alternate movie time (as I really did want to watch the movie rather than have my $12 back) or simply issue me a refund himself. Unless he felt it was "beneath" a person of his stature, too busy or just too stupid to perform such a task, it was a simple solution. On that note, there were so MANY other ways he could have resolved a very minor issue with an understanding customer. He instead chose to pound his chest, show his muscle and run me off of his territory...HORRIBLE CHOICE. I have been a manager in the customer service industry for over 20 years and I engage with numerous customers on a daily basis. Some encounters are pleasant, and others are not so pleasant. In either case, a consumer has selected my place of business. As a supervisor and representative of our business it is my responsibility to ensure our consumers have the most pleasant customer experience we can provide. I am positive AMC Theaters has a similar expectation of all of their personnel, most especially their managers. Recently, this place had become my theater of choice (despite it being further across town) because they have been playing movies not available at other local theaters. I'm sure I am not the only one. For that, AMC deserves some credit. It's a shame the manager is not appreciative of or prepared to accommodate this new flow of business. The 1-star is for the associates who seemed to care more than the manager did. This is not about a refund. Fandango refunded me via their app shortly after leaving. The manager's customer service is horrible and uninformed. Fandango offers a simple refund feature on their app if you are unable to make your show. Ever since the remodel starplex has stepped their game up. Seats are comfortable, has been cleaner overall, bar is nice and they always have a lot of specials going on. Tonight however I was a little upset. I realize after ten people are trying to get out of work and they're is only a few more showtimes left. but the bar was closed, almost all the drinks were out. There was no snacks other than popcorn. I felt really bad for the kid taking my order ( who was amazing by the way and did a excellent job). He was the one having to tell all the upset customers that they were out of everything. It's not his fault the manager in charger was more focused on getting out early. Just was pretty bummed out I wasn't able to enjoy the movie experience how I wanted. read more

I haven't liked this theater since it was sold from the Tinsletown group to this new owner. One thing I don't like is that the concession stand seems to have been downgraded. When you are paying upwards of $4.00 for popcorn you'd think you could get the server to put some butter or salt in the middle and then again on top. They have no problem doing this at Century. This theater gives you the popcorn "dry" and you salt and butter yourself. Now get this - the last two times I went there the salt wasn't even in a shaker - they poured some in a pickle bag and had me sprinkle it myself. I think the attempt to move the concession line a little faster by doing the self-serve butter/salt was a bad move. They also seem really unorganized behind the concession counter. Bad management or lack of training? Not sure. Either way - I'll probably continue to go here just cause it's way more convenient to my house - but I find Century to be a much better value. read more

THis place is now upgraded, new leather seats, unlike the seats at century where they rock a little OR the armseat goes up..they cannot do both. but here, they can rock ALOT AND the armrest goes up at the same time..the seats are much better..and yes the automatic ticket buyer is excellent read more

I totally disagree with the previous reviews and don't understand how you can trash Starplexand still frequent when there is an alternative. I visit once a week and always enjoy my movies. Concession prices are reasonable and the seats are OUTSTANDING. I will continue to frequent this theatre and encourage anyone looking for a theatre that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to attend. read more

Was able to rent theater for husband's birthday before open to public. It was a nice experience management and staff were very helpful and courteous for our group of 19. There is a charge for minimum 20. Price included small drink, popcorn and candy and movie for each person. We could not find another theater that will rent it out unless you pay for every seat. We also were given the largest theater so that was a plus. Only times available are 9am or after last movie. We chose 9am. We had a good time read more
