This place is super cute. It's a little pricey but it's interesting conceptually. The place is broken into three separate places. There is a restaurant that requires reservations, an open seating patio area with an additional indoor seating area and then a cute little bar with its own entrance. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Everyone had a very efficient but laid back vibe which matched the atmosphere. The bartender especially as I spoke with him then most was super hospitable and encouraging about the menu. I had him talk me through the drink menus and even though we didn't end up eating at the establishment he was helpful with the menu. We were going to a show and the bartender continued to be very friendly and engaging which made us feel so comfortable. I will 100% be coming back. The venue location is perfect if you are seeing a show or sport at TCC or the Ronstat center. Also the hotel which is a popping location is next door and an easy walk across the street. read more

We lucked into a reservation at this place. One opened up this morning, so we took it. We were seated near the bar area and where a trio was playing. The trio was quite good, especially the pianist. But they only played a few pieces and then they were done for the night. Our server, Summer, was terrific. She explained the menu and what to expect. We ordered two starters. The hearts of artichoke and the braised leeks with pulled rabbit. I have to say I liked the hearts of artichoke better. We both ordered the seafood chowder. A bit of a misnomer as it really was a piece of haddock with a potato chowder. The haddock was very well cooked. It was good and it was filling. We ordered a Greek Chardonnay that was very good. The place was busy and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The inside seating, where we were, did not seem to have the ambiance that the outdoor patio seating had. Rating is not for the food, just the experience. My family was visiting during restaurant week, so we were very excited to dine at the Coronet. The environment here is non-pretentious, and a little bit elegant and looks like a great place for date night - I think I prefer a date night here rather than a family dinner with a young toddler in tow. I think service is more geared towards ordering drinks and apps and taking your time to get to the main event. I wished we had known that because our toddler has a hard bed time and dinner was more relaxed than expected. Our reservation was for 5:30 and 7pm had rolled around and our entrees were just being cooked. Since the toddler had to get home soon, we opted to take the rest of meal to go. We can't really speak to the deliciousness of the food as we didn't get to eat it right away, but what we did have was enough to pique our interests and to return without a fussy baby and dine unhindered. read more

Wow- 1st visit to Coronet and I can't wait to return. My husband had the waffle and I enjoyed the poached egg breakfast. Food was delicious! I have never been charged so much for food that claimed to be gourmet. The owner was rude and had no respect towards my review of the food. The owner told me that the multi-course wine pairing was specially created to correspond with each wine representing a different country. Well, I don't drink. She said that because I didn't have the wine is why it wasn't as good without it. The menu was filled with lots of fancy culinary terminology. Rillette was used twice but there was not any form of that cooking method. Agnolotti was used but the raviolis had next to no filling in them. A deformed croquette was sitting on top of frisée with grilled bread and peach compote. Not sure what the relationship was between these items was. I got served a porchetta and was merely a rolled pork belly and most of the fat was on the inside. The procedure was completely misunderstood on this one. This was paired with a strange radicchio salad. I looked at past reviews and found pictures of the same items that were used in my "one-of-a-kind, special menu", the grilled bread especially is used where they can't think of anything else. Here's the best part. This evening was my 57th birthday with my son. I got charged $200 for this sub-par food without alcohol. I told the owner the absolute honest truth and she did not like hearing it. I said, I should get a portion of my money back. She basically told me I didn't know what I was talking about, normally she gives a gift certificate for instances like this. She said, in this case I was not welcome back. Not that I would go back. I just wanted my money back for that embarrassing food and ruined birthday. Even my 15 year old son knew how bad it was. But then again he is the son of a chef. The whole meal was severely disappointing. The restaurant and the service was beautiful. I spoke to the owner one on one and she treated me horribly. I support local businesses 100% but when it's this bad I have to speak up. read more

The ambiance is great - a lovely date spot. Cute decor with candles everywhere. That being said, the ambiance and the service were the best part of the experience. All the food was presented nicely, but lacked in complexity. The salad was very bland. The pork belly on the other hand was crispy with a little spice. The assortment of canned seafood is interesting, but we'll skip it next time. The chicken achiote was a bit dry. Our group of 4 celebrated Christmas dinner on the patio and the food,service and ambiance were amazing. The special dinner of porchetta was amazing with sweet and salty flavors blending. The egg nog was perfect as well! The menu has gluten free options, and we never felt rushed. One small suggestion would be to warm the chocolate cake. We loved it!! read more

I ate here with a fairly large Meetup group last night. We sat outside. The setting is very pleasant and service was good. I ordered the Thai mussels with shrimp ($28) and the Tack Room chocolate mousse ($12). The food was OK but not good enough to warrant these prices. I found it to be frustrating that the waitress laughed when I asked about the prices and trying to see what meals were low carb. They had a mushroom flat iron steak for 44 dollars. I said I didnt want mushrooms and how big was the steak. 6 oz! 44 dollars for a 6 oz steak? My friend ordered it and it is a tender cut. We chose to dine at The Coronet for our anniversary. We had moved to Tucson less than a year ago and had driven by this historic yet elegant looking adobe building many times. After seeing the short yet robust looking menu with locally/ethically sourced fish and meats topped with many herbs/spices, I knew this would constitute a lovely dinner. And indeed it did! We ordered made to order market fish chowder and grilled steelhead for main dishes and asked to split them. They did a great job splitting the dishes and ensured to keep a great presentation. Fish in the chowder is a whole fillet, not chopped, which is perfectly seasoned and prepped. I now think it's actually much better to enjoy fresh fish fillet chowder compared to having the fish chopped into dices. The steelhead looks like a salmon-family fish. It is also perfect seasoned and prepared, served with lightly sweet marinated olive and spices rice. It was stormy before we came, so the outdoor patio area was still wet. We sat closer to the back door. The ambient is nice, having glimpses of the wonderful monsoon clouds right outside the restaurant. Thankful for the crew for making the restaurant great! read more

For a date night spot with charm and personality, the Coronet is one of my favorites. It's the perfect dinner place for when you want something different than the typical corporate chain. The ambience, while a little dark, is perfect for an intimate date. The restaurant's interior makes me feel like I've gone backwards in time in the best way possible. Plus it's connected to the Coronet Cafe and Nightjar, where you can grab a cocktail from the bar and have a seat in their "train car room" that makes you feel like you're sitting in a vintage train. The food here is amazing as well. They do a great job at offering both familiar/comforting options and new taste experiences. The savory pomegranate puree served with my meal was a surprising delight for me. We also got the charcuterie board to start (which was fantastic) and our server did a great job and explaining what everything on the board was. Our server was attentive, polite, and made great recommendations. I highly recommend the steak and the half-hen. I've also heard great things about the steelhead. I truly think there's nothing here you could order that wouldn't be amazing. It is great to support a restaurant that sources nearly all of their ingredients locally. read more

You know, I'm super conflicted about this location. I went with a friend of mine during the last weekend of Sonoran Restaurant Week and got there right when it opened. Our waitress gave us a tour of the new space and walked us through the menu items and wine pairings. She was fantastic! My friend and I each ordered different appetizers, entrees, and dessert, and watched as the restaurant quickly filled up. Before I knew it, the restaurant was at capacity. This was exciting to see, but not exciting to dine in. They definitely placed more tables and chairs in the space than should be allowed and my friend and I constantly had to scoot our chairs in to not get bumped by the service staff or other customers. We were polite, but after the fifth or so bump, it felt a bit excessive. Finally the food arrived -- frog legs, green been salad, eggplant risotto, roast chicken, burrata & melon, and pannacotta. The presentation itself was meh, which I don't usually care about but after eating at several other restaurants for Sonoran Restaurant Week plating became an additional fun thing I enjoyed seeing considering how much we were paying. Additionally, the serving size was lacking. To be honest, most of the dishes tasted bland and under-seasoned, with the risotto being the only dish I would eat again. It was deliciously creamy and tasted fresh, which was surprising considering it looked like someone dumped a box of instant rice onto a plate. I would go back because the happy hour drinks look bomb and our waitress killed it, but honestly I would rather spend my money on a handful of other high-class Tucson dining experiences. read more

Not very strong so if u like strong coffee get an americano. To eat we had the simple breakfast and eggs Bennie (with the brisket & fish-can't remember what it was called). Stick with the brisket. The fish was good however it was an odd combination. Also the Bennie is on toasted potatoes which turned out to be tasty. Comes with a salad which was quite amazing actually! The toasted orange peel was over the top! My hubbies wished the simple breakfast came with a meat like bacon for example but other than than it was good! Stopped by to get a quick drink. We didn't have time to grab a bite on this trip, but we will definitely be back. The location and the atmosphere is great. The hostess and servers were so quick and accommodating. They assured us right away and found us a seat at the bar. Bar tender came over right away and asked for our order and also had a couple of recommendations for specials of the day. We grabbed a quick beer and a old fashioned. Beer was nice and cold, and the mixed drink was nice and strong and perfectly made. As we sat and enjoyed our drinks we had the opportunity to see a lot of the dishes come out. The one that stood out the most was definitely the pork chop with mashed potatoes. Looked and smelled fantastic. The couple next to us couldn't stop raving about it. Definitely will order that on our next visit. They do have a great drink menu with lots of specialty drinks available. The place itself was so quaint/retro side it was as if you stepped back in time to the 30s or 40s era. (Not a bad thing) very warm and inviting. The hostess was very nice and informative. Told us about the dishes and also recommended reservations if you wanted a table. At least 2-3 days in advanced. They can accommodate parties, and they do have a area where you can have a private area for 14+ people. If you haven't been, it's a must go for a drink or a nice dinner! read more

Being a group of foodies more enthralled by flavor than fearful of germs, we shared everything adding to the experience. We tried the Late summer pear and tomato terrine, the steelhead and shrimp mousse torchons, the charred Asparagus Panna cotta, snails in the garden, herbs de Provence crusted sea bass, and wild boar birria bucatini. For desert we had the orange date cake (a wonderfully complex take on a homey coffee cake), tack room chocolate mousse (with surprising density)and hotsy totsy boozy coffee. They were all fabulous, but my favorites were the late summer pear and tomato terrine and hotsy totsy coffee. read more

This place was amazing! The outdoor patio was so cute and such a vibe. Our waiter Isaac was great and gave great suggestions since it was our first time. We tried so many things.. my favorites were the Leek Fritters (I wanted to lick the beet purée off the plate) and the Chimichurri potatoes!! I got a Paloma and it was perfect! The dessert... I have 2 words... CREME BRÛLÉE!!!!!!! It was soooooo delicious!! Overall everything was great; food was amazing, service was outstanding and the vibe was unmatched!! This is the best, but the horseradish lebneh and dill elevated this dish for me. Oh so good! My friend who's is very selective about diet, continues to discuss how great the food and service. She had Frittatas. In addition to food, they sell knickknacks. As much as we all dislike mice. I could not resist purchasing 2 small metal mice. I think they are interesting. Beautiful restaurant, lovely waitstaff, great cocktails. This place has all the right ingredients for a great eating experience. The only problem is the food--which is clearly striving for experimental dining and utterly misses the mark in flavor. The cauliflower dish was somehow very bland and over spiced at the same time. The panna cotta basically tasted like cold spam with dirt on it. Everything lacked richness, was overly worked and was the wrong temperature. It was aiming for "a different take on x" but couldn't actually make the food taste interesting or pleasing. Definitely go for the drinks but skip the food. read more

Seems like the whole restaurant is off...claiming to be a high end place, but the 'policies', service and food left us beyond disappointed. Here are some observations that fuel the bad review: - I had to persuade the server to give me a taste of a wine I had never tasted, when, in any proper restaurant that would have been offered by the server. - The food came out slowly and randomly with more than half of the table sitting without plates for an exorbitantly long time. - Food was not as described and sadly, not up to standards. - We asked for a large bowl of pasta to be split for our young boys to share and they refused unless we paid a split charge - not the norm for any high end (or low end) restaurant we've ever dined in around the world. - Our second round of drinks took so long that our table had been cleared as they were beginning to pour the wine into glasses. - When making the reservation, we were asked, as usual, about any special occasions we were celebrating and if there were any allergies they should be aware of. Neither was acknowledged at all. I've literally never dined anywhere for a birthday celebration without the restaurant doing something to make it special. - The bill came and, being a party of 8, gratuity was included but the server made no mention of that and left it up to us to either figure it out or pay double in gratuity for service that deserved $0. I truly have never written a bad review for anything before this, but I'm hopeful the insight will protect other families from experiencing such disappointment. read more

One of the reasons I visited Tucson was to see if the food lived up to its reputation. I was a bit doubtful because I'm a New Yorker, and travel quite a bit, so the bar was high. A friend introduced me to The Coronet and I liked it so much I came back a second night for dinner, rather than try another restaurant. Incredible and inventive flavors, gracious staff, and cozy atmosphere, what more can you really ask for. I would have come back a third night in a row, but I thought it might be a good idea to try a few other restaurants! Lol. Really appreciated that there were some interesting Amaros on the menu and the bartender offered to let me try them - all fantastic. Thank you. And perfect with the ridiculously good dessert, which frankly - made me want to keep coming back again and again. Love this place and it will keep calling me back to Tucson. read more

My wife and I just finished the Valentine's Day dinner 5 course Prix Fixe for $130 each, and we were unfortunately incredibly disappointed. We ended up not finishing anything in full beyond the first two courses, which were soup and salad. We ate a few bites of the third and fourth, course, and about as much of the dessert. The food quality was poor, enough to make us both nauseous by the third course. The flavors were disconnected, bland, and everything was over salted. My fourth course, the Beef Short Rib was 70% fat. I eat everything, always, even if I don't like it, and I couldn't get beyond a few bites. This meal cost us over $300 and we should have said something about not liking it immediately, but we just wanted to be polite. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying it, but maybe it's because their main demographic are elderly. It would explain everything. The atmosphere was fine, the service was great, but the food was just not good. Sorry guys. read more

A group that I belong to recently had a coffee event there and the staff was great, setting up reserved tables for us in advance.
