Staff is always friendly at this restaurant and you are seated and served quickly. The most authentic Mexican food here in Central Texas.

Great location but food is just ok. Never enough sauce on their enchiladas. Beans are bland. Service is hit or miss especially if you have more than 4 people. Biggest complaint is they serve drinks in cups that have OU printed on them! This is Texas. We hate OU!! read more

I've eaten Mexican food for years in different parts of the U.S. and in Mexico. Yes, I'm a Mexican food snob! My honest opinion about the food at Coronas De Oro is that it DOES NOT taste "cooked", as if someone took time to blend the flavors together with love (except the tortillas) rather, it tastes hastily "thrown together" and quite possibly from a can and microwaved. Very un-satisfying! If you want real Mexican cuisine cooked with passion, best to go somewhere else. Burritos and stuffed avocado are excellent!! Super fresh ingredients and great taste. The side of beans was smoky with a rich taste. Service was attentive and accommodating to our special requests. Lovely location on the water. Can't believe we waited so long to eat here. We are already planning our return. read more

Food is really good! I love the stuffed avocados! Servers are always top notch. They've taken care of and fully accommodated for our large group on many occasions. Nice atmosphere with the creek just a few steps away. We enjoy the outdoor seating as weather permits. On the weekends its such a fun party atmosphere, especially when there's live music on the outdoor stage. read more

The people and service is great. My fajitas were so sad! Over cooked thin strips of jerky and over cooked wilted veg. Nuff said.

Went Saturday for lunch. Of course, found it on Yelp. The location is fantastic. An old cotton gin area by a running creek has been transformed into a food and entertainment area. Lots of families playing and swimming in the creek. The water was very clean with nice grassy banks. Big shady gazebo overlooking swim area. They have spent a lot of time and money to make this a nice area.the restaurant patio overlooks the creek so nice view. The food was great. My steak a la Mexicana was seasoned perfectly and a large portion. Glenda had her usual enchiladas that were really good. Salsa was ok. Now, for the perfect ending. I ordered the Mexican coffee(see picture of menu). OMG. I could of drank 5, but I was driving. Perfect sweetness covered in whip cream. I highly recommend this place for the food and the location. read more

This is not real Mexican. Do not eat here I tried so hard to find things worth praising here. My service was good? My food was.. Cooked? Lets go with the basics: - The salsa was very possibly spicy tomato paste. No signs of any other salsa like ingredients. - The only hot sauce they had available was Tabasco. - My rice was straight, plain yellow goya rice. Not seasoned or flavored in any way. - My chicken was the same. The only flavor it had was from being flattened and grilled. The veggies on top were the only good part. - The queso also lacked seasoning, peppers or anything other than melted Monterey cheese. Please change its name on the menu to Semi-liquid cheese sauce. Essentially, literally everything I ate here was bland and depressed. Texas is suppose to have real Mexican & this is upsetting. I cannot imagine how this place is 'Belton' s Best Mexican' unless it is the only Mexican place in town. read more

Watch out for eggshells on the bacon on the jack wraps. Picked up a to go order and while eating one, I crunched into a large piece of eggshell. Then inspected the others & found eggshells stuck on the bacon on 2 other jack wraps. Large pieces of eggshells. . Had to dig eggshells off with a knife as they were cooked onto the bacon. . Yeck!!!!! Lost my appetite quickly & gagged a lot. Nothing worse than biting into an eggshell!!!!!!!!!!! read more

service: 9/10 food: 10/10 decor: 7/10 It doesn't look like much when you walk in, but once you sit down, you too feel like your one with Mexican culture. The food was really good! I had the "Corona's Burger" and it was amazing! (especially with the crispy fries and ketchup to go with it! epic!) And then for desert, I had the fried ice cream, delicious! It's like a "crispy on the outside, chewy on the outside" ordeal. Also, all the other food on the table were also scrumptious. The service was attentive. And the decor was decent. What a disappointment. We have been going here for several years. One night Jalisco's was too crowded in Belton so we went here for takeout. The food was good, the service good and all went well. Over the last year we have done takeout ever week or two. Usually it is pretty good but lately they have been forgetting items we ordered. No big deal, we all make mistakes. Tonight was about it. Went there and put in an order for two dishes. They entered it and could not seem to understand what TWO of the same order meant. The manager came over and he entered the order. So out the order came and home we went to our hungry household 30 minutes away. We opened the food and ONE order. C'mon! The only thing you have to do is enter two orders, with two people doing it, and that is it! So, never again. Back to Jalisco's. The place has good food but even on a not busy night they cannot get an order right. This is how you lose a customer. Bye. read more

Coronas de Oro is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Temple/Belton. The food and service is always good, the prices are great, low-lit environment, a view of the river if you want to sit on the patio. It's a great place to go for dinner. read more

The food is amazing and the atmosphere is unlike anything else in the area. I absolutely love where the restaurant is located this is hands down my favorite place to go get Mexican food in the temple/ belton area. The food is good and authentic nothing fussy just delicious food with a warm, welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. My favorite menu item is the beef fajita I usually get the beef fajita nachos. I have never had a negative experience and the service is very consistently plesant. Sitting outside is beautiful especially as the sun sets and the string lights in the Nolan creek common area are turned on. Occasionally there is live music and the fire pits will be going- the setting is truly lovely! read more

Stopped by yesterday because the area (known as The Gin) is very interesting. There's a creekway running behind the complex and a nice walkway along that. Unfortunately, the resaturant didn't live up to the scenery-plain formica tables, vinyl chairs, not much decor. The food was average. Nothing out of the ordinary on the menu and really, nothing to crave. We ordered drinks and nachos to snack on since it was before dinner time. The nachos were pretty standard but the beans and meat were pretty flavorless. My husband ordered a 16 ounce margarita and said there was probably more alcohol in a bottled beer. The mix was obviously just a standard, store-bought mix. So, I'd probably go back for nice location but not really because the food was to die for. read more

First of all, I trust no Mexican place that doesn't have hot sauce on the table. I ESPECIALLY don't trust a Mexican place that thinks Tabasco hot sauce is hot sauce. But, it was Sunday, and every where I wanted to go was closed or closing, and I already sat down. The food is decent (aka: edible) but I've had more authentic Mexican at Chipotle. The staff is nice, but white. And let's be honest, when you go to an ethnic place you want that ethnicity to make it. They know what they're doing. This is probably the best Mexican food in Belton. Chilli rejeno made the traditional way. Chicken enchiladas were the best I've had in a long time. The frozen margaritas are highly addictive. The corona queso was really different with all the toppings. There was live music playing outside but it's August and I'm not that interested in that much sweating. First visit here was for lunch on a Saturday about a year ago. We were seated right away and ordered within 5 min. Our food was brought out 5 min after that almost immediately followed by the check - not what I was looking for for a slow relaxing Saturday lunch with waiter hovering and waiting for payment! By the way, food was just OK. Second visit is today, 5th May. Ordered frozen margaritas at 6 pm. Got chips and 6.15. At 6.20 pm told that margarita machine was broken (really? Today?!) Switched to beer and margarita on the rocks which arrived promptly. Still waiting for the steak quesadilla and the extra chips.....It is now 6.30... I give up! Was just in Belton for a night, found this place, and will definitely be back!! Super delicious, great service, and very affordable. My sister and I shared the three meat fajita and each had a large margarita, both extremely delicious. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Food? Okay Service? Bad We went on Sunday with a big group of family and didn't realize we were going during the church rush. Needless to say, we spent a good hour in the courtyard waiting for our table. Our one request? Drinks. We had fussy little kids and a drink for them would drastically improve our situation. They said someone would be right out, but it took over 20 minutes for them to realize we were still waiting and another 20 to actually get our drinks. Once seated, the waitress was more focused on making sure she didn't get suckered out of any drinks than making sure we had an ample amount of fresh chips spread around the table. We had to repeatedly ask for high chairs and it wasn't until we went to grab one from an empty table that our waitress snapped to the fact that we were still waiting. Our chips were stale and we requested fresh ones, but she said 'they shouldn't be stale' and ignored our request. Of course, we had ordered queso (which was surprisingly good!), so the chips were gobbled up anyway. Repeated requests for more chips were ignored, and while the number of patrons in the restaurant had easily cut in half by the time we were seated it still took well over an hour to get our food. We didn't come here for the TexMex, we actually came because my family is filled with burger fanatics and there's were supposedly good. I got a chicken burger and had no complaints except for the cold, bland fries. They forgot the cheese on my husbands burger and rather than offer to re-make it or take it back to the kitchen they offered to bring him a cold slice of cheese to top it with. Another family member got sick after leaving because her bun had been burnt and she opted to eat it rather than complain. Overall the food was just okay. I don't live close enough to eat here regularly, but it would be a nice dining experience on a summer evening. It's definitely worth another try to test out their fajitas. read more

Pretty good Mexican food. My order got mixed up (I was also with a party of about 12) but was corrected really quickly. Very good guacamole. Biggest complaint is it's sweltering hot inside, like really really hot to the point I was getting light headed. The night we were there there was a lot of large black flies flying around inside, which makes eating your food an annoyance. Their TVs inside are also REALLY loud. The drinks looked large and delicious. I had the shrimp fajitas and they were great, a little heavy on the onion (vs pepper ratio) but still good. Rice and Black beans were good as well. read more

I had the Ceviche and a Tequila Sunset. Great drink and great appetizer. Extremely quick service and great rustic Mexican atmosphere. The building exterior is awesome and fits the area. I did go there on a date. Horrible date but the food and drink is definitely the most memorable part. I would recommend the place due to food, atmosphere and fair prices. I would not recommend this place. I have went here a number of times and the staff are dismissive, the food is more expensive than other restaurants in the area, we have been given the wrong order, and completely incorrect charges/checks. On our last visit, I called ahead about 4-5 hours for a party of 10. We had an hour wait and when walking in to check with the staff, who again were dismissive and on this occasion actually rude, there were multiple open tables that could have been used. The bar tender was extremely, blatantly, rude as well. The staff reported that since they had planned to use one specific six top for our party, they were waiting on only that six top and the one beside it. When asked if they had considered any other part of the building for seating, considering the significant notice provided and time waiting there, the hostess indicated she had not since "we have other parties too." After being seated, we then waited another 45-60 mins for our food to be served. There are multiple other Mexican food restaurants in the are that have much better service, prices, and food. Taq on central in Belton and Jaliscos are two that come to mind. Don't waste your time on this place. read more

I've been here a few times over the last few years and I love the location. Usually live entertainment outside, the creek flows right by for a picturesque view, it's just a cool area to be at on a Friday or Saturday night. BUT, the quality of the food has slowly diminished over these few years too. It is sad to see because it's such a perfect location. The food is just so so; the standard fare you could get at the mall or any average chain mexican restaurant. I would like to see them put more effort into being unique with their menu selections and raise the quality of those items to make it equal to the expectations of places in that area. Roaches everywhere. Counted at least 7 in the short time were were there. I kid you not. The waitress was taking my order and looked passed me. Her eyes got real big with an oh crap look on her face. I looked at my wife she had the same look on her face, the waitress started to giggle in kind of a weird way. I turned around and there was a roach on the wall directly behind my head. There were roaches crawling up the walls and on the floors. There were flies all over the place. So much so that we could not eat our food without having to stop and shoo flies away. We have been eating here for years. And it has always been a good experience. But it seems like in the last year or so the restaurant is really going downhill. My family and I had the displeasure of learning that our commitment to helping this local business since March 2020 to the tune of $125.00 weekly wasn't appreciated when we had to confront both the manager and hostess on being overcharged on a pick up order over an $8 discrepancy. Our treatment by both the manager (who hung up on us) and, Jasmine the cashier, has left a long lasting bad taste that has made our family choose other establishments.
