Their repair is terrible and slow. I was told they would hand stitch a new leather sole on my children's slippers and charged me $106. Over 20 days later they glued on some cheap plastic soles. Absolutely incompetent. They would be better served to close the shop. read more

The lady is very sweet. I've been here a couple of times in the last 3-4 months because it's really close to my house. The hours are like 2pm to 6pm most nights but you should check before showing up. She did a good job repairing the heels on my boots. And I needed some stitching on the handle of my ski bag. She definitely reinforced it, and it worked well for a ski bag. For these every day items I think it's fine but I would probably not bring fancy high priced Gucci stuff to be repaired here. read more

Been coming here for years and generally does great work, although not quickly. Really disappointed when I brought a pair of suede slippers to be cleaned and when I picked them up, they were an entirely different color. Not to mention they were there for months and when I previously tried to pick them up I was told they weren't ready because we couldn't find them in the shop. The worst part is when I said I was not satisfied, I was told to shut up and accused that that's what customers say when they don't want to pay! When I showed a pic of what they looked like when I ordered them I was told the factory photo isn't what it looks like and I was misremembering the color when I brought them. I'm sorry but there's a big difference between the color of cinnamon (what I brought in) and cream (what I received). Sounds like she didn't want to replace an item damaged while in her care. Overall, be selective in the services here and know customer service is not a priority. read more

If I could give a lower review, I would. My experience started out very good and very friendly. I needed a sole of a children's Doc Marten fixed because the adhesive was coming loose. I also had my wife's UGG tall sheepskin boot that the stitching of one of the panels had come apart, and all it needed was to be restitched. Other than that, the boot had zero problems. The lady was sweet and said they could fix both no problem. I believe it was $9 for the Docs and $13 for the UGG. At any rate I didn't have an issue with the price. I paid upfront and tipped. The lady guaranteed it would be done Tuesday (it was Friday), but she's push to get it by Monday and would call if they got it done. No call came, so I went on Tuesday to pick up the boots. Because the lady was so nice, I completely trusted the work would be done well. So much so that I never even took a look. Partly because I had my daughter with at the time. At any rate I was happy until I got the boots home and presented the UGG to my wife as a surprise. Well.... take a look at the photos of the UGG. Remember, all it needed was to be restitched. Instead of using a proper stitch, they used glue; making it rough and uncomfortable on the inside and spilling it on the outside ruining it completely! Besides the glue, they also used a big X hand stitch in a way that my 7 year old could probably have done better. Besides the UGG issue, the DOC sole was fixed ok, and looks good on the outside, but my daughter says it's extremely uncomfortable with a "bump " on the side of her foot. My issue lies 100% on the integrity. If you can't fix something properly, say something. Don't just say you can and then wing it. The boots are just a material thing, but the UGGs had sentimental value as they were a gift. Besides, they were in perfect condition minus a single stitch that let loose. Who would have thought the boot would be ruined with glue. If it wasn't for the glue I could have at least restitched it myself better than this. My stomach is sick when I think about it. I'm very disappointed. I'm shocked. I guess now I'll go buy a new pair of $200 boots. read more

This is the best shoe repair place in San Diego! Graciela is a master at repair and refurbishing. I have an expensive pair of Vince Camuto boots that I bought 6 years ago and love dearly. At the end of every 'winter' I take them into Graciela and have her stain them (they're black leather) and put on new soles. They look like brand new and are ready for the next season! For $80, it's cheaper than buying a new pair of boots every year and I have my favorite boots in excellent shape! She is also dependable for repairs of any kind; shoes, boots, luggage. read more

Living in Coronado, I try to support our local businesses. In this case, BAD IDEA!!! I brought in a beautiful leather bag that only needed an ink spot removal (from a ball point pen). Very small, but should take no more than 20 minutes. I could have donee it myself, but I didn't want to take the chance of ruining it. The woman said it would take a few days because she was short staffed and behind on some orders. No problem. I went back a week later to pick it up and she told me to come back in an hour because she couldn't find it. It's a small shop, it couldn't go very far. I waited in the shop and suddenly, she found it. She said they hadn't gotten to it yet and it would be another week. Forget it, I wanted it back. Instead of handing it over, she slathered some greasy oil on it and told me not to open the bag for a week so it could soak in. THEN, proceeded to charge me $35. So, the bag smelled like camel ass and it was ruined. Totally worthless. But, I had to fork over the $35 before I could even find that out. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! There are so many other complaints about this shoe store, I'm shocked they're still in business. read more

They did a great job repairing heels I thrashed in Italy on the cobblestone streets. My Choos look new again and even my leather boots are again fabulous. I'm revising this review because Hilda did a truly marvelous job of refurbishing my scuffed boots. The leather's gray was a tricky shade to match, and she matched it perfectly. They look like new. It is probably quite difficult to pay rent on an Orange Ave. storefront (if she doesn't own the property outright, which she might, I don't know), and retain even one staff member. I think her turnaround time would be shortened considerably were she to hire someone experienced to help her with the workload -- but I don't know if that's feasible for her. As I noted previously, she's considerate, polite, and *very* hard-working. I hope she is able to expand her business a bit, to include another pair of hands in the shop. read more
