My parents frequently came home with Italians and pizzas from there on Friday nights when I was a kid. When I moved away to Boston after high school, this was the one place that I always made sure to go to whenever I came home to visit. Even after all these years, they are still just as amazing. It didn't take long at all for me to get my husband (who is from Boston) hooked on their food. We are now lucky enough to live not even 10 minutes from them, so I will frequently call in an order and my husband will stop here on his way home from work to pick up dinner for us on nights when we don't feel like cooking. Just last night, we had the double dough, extra cheese pizza and potato logs. They were so good! You really won't find lower prices than theirs. I don't know where else you can get a sub for $5 or less, or a large pizza for around $10. If you are in the Bangor area and you've never been to Fairmount Market, you're really missing out! Just an FYI: This is take-out ONLY. They don't have any seating. This is essentially a convenience store. They also carry a very limited number of grocery items, so you can pick up a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread here as well. I believe they also sell lottery tickets.

The store is a combo of a restaurant, general store, and gas station. The gas is self serve, you can pay via cash or card. Inside the store is warm and welcoming. They sell everything from booze, snacks, cigs, and fish bait. There is also coffee and a deli counter. The pizza was very popular, but I ended up getting the breakfast sausage sandwich and some pasta salads. The break sausage sandwich on a biscuit was heaven! One of the best biscuits I've ever had. Fresh off the grill, hot as heck! I still dream about it. The pasta salads were also very good. I ended up buying a shirt, and some spices as well. Over the week, I actually ended up here a lot and continuously picked up materials. Each time it was a pleasant experience. One of the cashiers ended up remembering us and that was a nice feeling. In the back there are tables to sit, but most people get to go sandwiches. There is also a beer selection in a freezer called the, "Beer Barn" 10/10 love this place. I wish it was down here in NYC! On our last day, we picked up sandwiches and coffee and the cashier gave us coffee for free and wished us a safe ride home. It was just the cherry on the cake. I'm in love with this place. I can't wait to visit again.

Even the bathroom is clean. We'll see how long that lasts. Inside is a Dunkin' Donuts, an Amato's, and lots of booze. We stop here on our return trips to Mass for Amato's. The customer service is pretty awful. It's at a Maine pace, which means it takes twice as long for you to get a sandwich as it does anywhere else. The kids who work here seem really nice but just aren't accustomed to strangers. Which is funny since you see loads of tourists coming through here every summer. I always get their classic Italian sandwich which is really just a ham and cheese drizzled with olive oil and vinegar. Even so it's good. However, the calzone we got was AMAZINGLY good. Loads of toasty cheese, chicken and spinach in a toasted shell, so good. The Dunkin's was slow but friendly. You pay for the Amato's stuff at the regular register. They give you a ticket and you go to the register to pay. You can pay for the dunks at dunks. The customer service at the register is pretty good. It's just the Amato's service that is lacking. The whole set up is weird and yet I stop here almost every time I'm in Maine.
