The food is maybe 3 stars...but the cleanliness of the place is a 1-star. This is place when you walk in simply feels dirty....the place has a nice set-up...they have booths or tables and the outside patio. But we couldn't find a good seat because almost ever other seat still had plates on it. The place wasn't super busy...but there were at least 7-8 tables still with plates on them and no one walking around cleaning. The outside patio was even worse...plates on the tables and trash on the ground. We sat down and the seat next to me had a puddle of water from a leak on the ceiling and the workers didn't even know! I had to tell them...food in between seats. You could plainly see crackers that had fallen in between seats...made you feel dirty just sitting there. The food was alright...as I said...3 stars. The sandwiches didn't feel that freshly made...the tomato soup was tasty. But that's about it... If you feel like eating a sandwich...go down to the next plaza at McAllister's....just saying. read more

This review is not so much about the restaurant. Though I have dined at the 10th Street location before on multiple occasions and always had a positive experience, this review is about the bakery at the Hwy 83 location. Today I just stopped in to buy a bag of rugalachs. The bakery has quite a few desserts and baked goods which all look wonderful. However my favorite is the rugalach, either the apricot or the cinnamon pecan. I don't really know how to pronounce "rugalach", but pointing and saying, "I want one of those" seems to work. :-) You may buy rugalachs for $1.49 apiece, or get a bag of six for $5.99 and have some to take home for later or to share. They're popular at our house! Please be aware that if they don't have any already rugalachs prepackaged, some employees will insist that you pay the individual prices even if you're buying six or more as what comes in the bag. That has happened to me more than once in the past. Today this location happened to have the prepackaged ones so there was no problem. My 4 star review is based on both prior purchases and the present taking the above into consideration. When I arrived it was after the lunch rush so there was no line. I was attended promptly by friendly staff. It was a simple transaction so not many details to share. read more

We just got the worse service today. We asked for the manager. Who knows if that was the manager we talked to but he had the worse attitude for being a manager. Instead of working everything out, he just flat out and said, if you want a refund! Seriously? After 40 minutes of waiting for pancakes order! Seriously and that is how you work things out! Our orders came shortly after talking to the supposed to be manager and it was wrong flavored pancakes! Like seriously! Waited for that long and orders was all wrong. And the freaking manager to ask if you want, we can bring you the blueberry pancakes! Why even ask, we obviously paid for the blueberry and not the buttercream one. We come to McAllen at least once a year to visit family, and this place remains consistently good. I love the quality of the food, and the friendliness of the workers. I could eat a soup/salad combo there everyday. :) I also wanted to commend them, as I ordered a large catering order for a funeral. After visiting the family, I discovered that the last thing they needed was more food to be delivered to their house. I was able to get in touch with the manager who allowed me to cancel my order, even though I was not able to give a full 24 hours notice. I highly recommend their pesto cavatappi, cheddar broccoli soup, and chicken pomodori sandwich. Their choose any two deal is especially good for the amount of food you're getting. These guys are always being consistent with their food quality which is always a great thing. I usually have their Caesar salad with half a sandwich. The Caesar salad has a really good taste to it and I would say it's one of the better tasting ones I've had at any franchise restaurant and the sandwich options are great. The thing I love about this place is there sweet tea because it's simply one of the best tasting I have had and always goes great with my meal. If you haven't tried this place I recommend you do it soon because you won't regret it. read more

Corner Bakery has really grown on me as a place to have a coffee and get work done. I'm not a fan of their food, as I find it very common and not particularly tasty. However, their baked goods are good. I particularly enjoy their bagels. Coming in mid morning or mid afternoon you can have a quiet and warm environment for working. Plus for $2 you can get a coffee mug with unlimited refills during your stay. In the morning you can get a coffee and a bagel for $4, which beats Starbucks any day. Or in the afternoon you could get another tasty pastry. It's also a good place to have meetings over coffee. read more

The service was great from the staff. One even offered to wipe a high chair for us. I'm a big fan of the lemonade. The spaghetti and meatballs pasta was good but the meatballs weren't as tasty to me. I might be a little biased because I'm not a total lover of meatballs in general. Their sweets look so appetizing but I have not tasted them yet. Next time I come. I love the designs on the cups! One person found this to be a great studying place with earbuds. I think the sound is too loud for me but it's not too bad, especially if you have headphones.
