Amazing!! We had the 3 piece with collard greens and yams. And I had the sides platter, Mac and cheese, cabbage and baked beans with a side of cornbread. The cornbread was obviously great. The service was great, originally I had gotten rice with gravy but the rice was hard maybe because we went late in the evening, so I swapped it out with beans which they gave me no issue about. The ambiance is nice for a fast food joint. This time, my Uptown drink was missing. There is always something missing every single time I order from here. One time I was given someone else's order entirely. I called the restaurant and the person who answered identified herself as the manager and advised me to "just go through the app, cancel the order and reorder it." It's extremely frustrating. Now she expects me to order just a drink and then tip a second person when the mistake was not mine. She advised me that tips are not mandatory. Poor customer service all around, every single time! Very disappointing. This is the fourth time I have ordered from here and something was missing or not mine. I literally order fish and received chicken before with all of the sides incorrect. I went here to get some black eyed peas and collard greens for New Year's Day. The spot I regularly visit was closed for the holiday so I found this restaurant online. LOCATION: It's easy to get to but it's all metered street parking. We didn't have to pay because of the holiday, but finding a spot took some time. RESTAURANT ENVIRONMENT: We had a to-go order so we didn't dine in. But we could have since there was ample space and it wasn't very busy when we went. The ambiance was nice. It was clean and had contemporary decor. There's a small private room to the side I'd imagine you could use for a little gathering (about 20 people). CUSTOMER SERVICE & ORDERING: I used the mobile order function to have my order ready when I arrived. I got there about 5 minutes early and went to the mobile pickup at the edge of the counter. I told the lady my name and she looked and said it wasn't ready yet. She mumbled something about wait a minute and she had a line. I figured I'm early so that's fine. But I was a bit irritated since the purpose of ordering ahead is to not have to wait and people were going through the line and getting their food in the amount of time I was standing waiting. There weren't a ton of folks in line. Plus we only ordered a couple of items. I saw the lady make no moves to ask about my order. After a few minutes I asked a different person to check on my order and--lo and behold--it was ready and sitting on the shelf the whole time! So I was not pleased. Also, I had to ask to be given utensils and napkins since none were in the bag. In theory, the advanced ordering option should be a plus. But it seems we would have done better just walking in and ordering! FOOD: I like that they don't put meat in their sides. The takeout containers were a sufficient size for the price. The black eyed peas tasted great! The greens were spicy with slices of carrot. I don't particularly care for spicy greens (I prefer them kind of sweet) but my mom loved them. People differ on their favorite way, so I'm not going to knock them for that. It's just not something I would personally order again. However, I did eat a good bit of the greens for traditions sake and I crunched on something. A stem? Debris? Idk. But that shouldn't be. OVERALL: I'd go again (or try one of the other locations). I'd recommend the black eyed peas. But they need to work on their customer service and clean the greens more carefully. read more

We heard good things so why not stop in as we were passing through the area. We parked not to far in a pay by the hour lot as there are no free street spots available. Upon entering, we were greeted with a smile and a sincere welcome, by who I believe was the manager. More sweeter than I like, so I tasted & passed it to hubby. He ordered the rib platter with 2 sides. He wasn't thrilled with the ribs, cooked in the oven not on the grill with a simple sauce added. We ordered baked turkeys wings with sides. I had the collard greens and my hubby had the collard green and black eye peas. The turkey wings were one of the best we both ever had cooked to perfection nice and tender. The collard greens were SOOOO good ; nice fresh and seasoned well. Brandy ordered catfish, macaroni and cheese and yams. You must meet Bernice and Natore the waitresses, they are professional, know the menu, make great suggestions and are hilarious. I ordered the fried whiting, potato salad and collard greens. Now it comes with a triangle shaped cornbread that has corn inside and I had to stop myself from eating it because as you know, you will fill up faster, but who cares, just take off the belt or loosen your pants. It was just that good. Now can we talk. You know how you are eating, and your stomach says that it's getting full, but you don't pay it any attention and you keep right on eating. Yup. That's what I did. Everything and I do mean everything was so good, yet we couldn't finish it all but I gave it the old college try. I went down fighting for the next fork full. Asked us to leave a honest review so here we are. The reviews were at 4.9 so I was expecting something good not a devastating hole in the wall. Me & company walked in, the atmosphere was nice until we talked to the cashier.. it's like she hates her job or something so dry..
