Attorney stapler was never available even when his secretary said he was in, his paralegal claimed other wise. Even when I walked in and saw he was in for myself. This happened way too much. And he never returned a phone call. Convinced me to give in when I shouldn't have because all most attorneys care about is money not when a child was being victimized and abused by the other person. Nothing was accomplished not even when my son was kidnapped. Don't waste your money. I would rate at a zero. read more

As you can see, this law firm is a hit and miss, promised aren't followed through, prices arent bad but aren't good either for the services given, 4 years 2 months later to get convicted on a misdemeanor that was told id have cleared if I signed for a felony and he looked confused as if he never said that(stapler) two extra misdemeanors that I was completely innocent on that I wanted off my record because I had a whole notarized letter with the state of Texas stamp of approval and a confession from someone else, I was not considered innocent. Only thing that he got me as promised was the felony deal. All in all he wasn't the only problem or maybe he could be who knows, bell county does not recognize and notarized confession with their stamp of approval so obviously bell county, all the judges and prosecutors are pathetic and a joke themselves, they tried to go back on a deal that was signed for a year and a half and throw me in the system as well, the only good part I definitely will say is that stapler kept those fools from locking me up clearly disregarding their deals that they proposed. But once again this is 4 years and 2 months for a weed and gun case, the law firm is pretty pathetic for taking that long to close a simple case like this and bell county court is pathetic and should be embarrassed and investigated by how they go about their due process. Both sides are pretty bad but the law firm had its half decent moments. My advice to anyone in bell county. If you got court in bell county go get you a lawyer that is not from this county because these losers in that building are all "buddy buddy, let's get along because we work together and play golf together" etc type of people, find you a real lawyer that doesn't see prosecutors every day and after 5pm at the bar. This firm does not care one single bit about you, your case, your sanity, your time, your health, or anything else that normal, reasonable human beings would. I spent weeks collecting information for trial and our lawyer looked at none of it. I know this because the weekend before, the legal assistant contacted me asking for something I had an entire FILE filled with on a USB drive I provided. Every point I brought up was "not relevant" during pre-trial meetings, but turned out to be EXTREMELY relevant during trial. None of the professional witnesses we had lined up were used- one was waiting to just be told what time to expect a video call to testify. I retained James Stapler to represent me in a Divorce case. I would have invested my money better by giving it to my Spouse attorney. He gave me case to his partner Rebecca Wheeler without my knowledge. Mrs. Wheeler proceeds to make a side deal with my spouse attorney to hurry up and close the case out. When I questioned Mr. Stapler about how the information was obtained from my spouse because I was never given any information about financial documents from his attorney. I realize Mrs. Wheeler did not have any valid information from his attorney. I expressed to Mr. Stapler that I was disappointed in how my case was being handled and I strongly disagree with him allowing his partner to continue to handle this case. He threw a tantrum like a child and threatened to drop my case. The end result is I never got a court date or any results for my case. His attorney dropped him and they never obtained any evidence from his attorney so Mr. Stapler cowardly stepped down as my attorney instead of admitting that Rebecca Wheeler bundled up my divorce case and I never received a court date. For any one else who was screwed by this firm. Please post to save others from being screwed by this firm. I have never experienced a set of Unethical lawyers in my life. A perfect example of why most people hate attorneys. James Berry Stapler is human scum that goes around his office calling his wife a b×××× to the other female staff. He was completely rude on more than one occasion as I sat on bail for a year waiting for the DA to drop a ridiculous murder charge against me. J didn't know the law on more than one occasion, pertaining to my case, and him and his staff are more worried about their clients personal fb pg than they are their cases. If you are in court then you are probably going through some of the worst things in your life and you can thank god if this firm doesn't handle your case, I know I thank god every day James Stapler wasn't representing me in a jury trial and the grand jury threw the case back as self defense. I will keep posting forever how ghetto and trashy the people are that make up this firm. He never shows up to court on time, if at all. They do not return phone calls. He will not be brushed up on the code pertaining to your case, and if you call him out on any of it he will blow up like an adolescent child that didn't get his way. Be very wary. This attorney (Dan Corbin) needs to be investigated by the bar. Obviously, he didn't learn anything in professional responsibility. He blatantly refused to follow the client's requests, and blatantly went against her requests, filing documents and motions she explicitly forbid him to. Then after she told him she didn't want him to do anymore, he continued to file motions and do things that she told him not to. Then he had the audacity to bill her for it, and then left her to clean up his mess when she had to hire another lawyer. He should be disbarred. read more

This is an amazing law firm! I had a felony charge that could have messed me up insanely . Dont go by what they say on price, read the fine print! What comes out there mouth and whats on paper will not add up! We were quoted verbally a price if it was contested and if it wasnt. We paid the extra just in case and it ended up being uncontested. They then did not refund the extra money they were paid! Beware...they are after money. 8 hours in court only to be told we have to go to mediation first. Then my lawyer scheduled mediation but went on vacation to Las Vegas instead. I had someone I never met before show up for mediation and she was completely unaware of my case and my situation, 8 hours of paying for a lawyer who worked on her computer with other cases the entire time. Then court case came up and my lawyer had no witnesses except me lined up to try and prove fraud judge's own words were "good luck with that". My lawyer was trying to juggle two cases in two different court rooms on the same day so when the judge asked if we were ready to go to trial my lawyer replied no. Now I am faced with another court hearing and the previously agreed on payment plan is no longer good enough, they need all the money up front. BEWARE!!! read more

I was referred to "Jay" Corbin. He was briefed on my custody case by another lawyer the day before. I got to my appt and I was takin in by another lawyer who was unfamiliar with my circumstance. I finally got to Jay and he passed me to another lady in the back who actually deals with divorce and custody. I was told they wouldn't be able to help mex They were basically too lazy to count the days my son lived here in Texas. His mother is abusive and headed to jail and they were too lazy to help him. I called jay again after I left to ask for another approach to the case. He had an attitude and raised his voice and told me to "STOP" while I explained I had police reports of my sons mothers activities. He said he would call back and never did. People willling to pay should never be treated this way and children deserve to be fought for. I do not recommend them at all read more

Should have been 1 star. Never met the lawyer I made an appt with through a referral at the firm. Instead I got Dan Corbin,who told me several times I charge $350 an hour to do what I can do on my own, without ever asking me what I wanted to have done. In my opinion, his commercials target lower to middle class and PICK and CHOOSE what works for them not the clientele they target. I think he is washed up and too tied up in a Political Position and Stance in Central Texas. All I wanted was for him to send a letter on my behave on my problem. If you're looking for an understanding, courteous, competent lawyer - do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. When you first walk into the law firm of Dan Corbin, you will feel like you're taken back to the 1980s. The office feels musty, crammed in the back you feel the agitated staff bustling, and the waiting area looks and feels like you're waiting for a bail bond; the metal bars at the entrance door don't help. The receptionist is mainly grumpy and short, but when you try hard enough, she'll squeeze out a smile from between her pocks scarred cheeks. Fill out this form and wait. Later, when she walks around the office, you'll be privy to a glimpse of her colorful tramp stamp which stretches over her lower back that spills over her 'skinny' acid washed jeans. Very professional... A barefooted woman in flip-flops drags through the waiting room, she must be an assistant of some kind, surely that's not an attorney. But wait, no. This is Ashley Clapper, she'll see you now. She never smiled, was rude throughout, and constantly and vigorously chewed on gum with her mouth wide open, more like you'd expect from someone serving you drinks at a bar. As she inquired about the facts of my case, her questioning seemed more like being investigated for a crime. No tact, no understanding, no help - just downright rude. If you don't understand what she's saying, instead of explaining it a different way, she'll say the same thing again only louder and a bit ruder, even if that didn't seem possible. When I looked at her in disbelief of her conduct, she caught herself and then had the audacity to say "I don't want to be rude, but...." She's not interested in any information outside her cookie cutter checklist and will just ignore your attempt to bring up facts. But finally, she compensated her rude behavior with her stunning incompetence... She made statements regarding entitlements, making an embarrassing calculation error, that are simply incorrect and would have cost good money. Horrible Service!! I went to them for my divorce and I have paid over $2,000 + and I have nothing to show for it. They bill you for everything. (They bill you for billing you, and if you have a question about your bill, they bill you for that too).
