24 hour airport shuttle service, on site rental car service and on site bar and restaurant. Everything we needed while in transit.

Loved the location right across Hagley Park, convenient to many places, and they provide free parking. Even though this hotel is a bit pricier than other places I searched, it is well worth it. Many places aren't as nice, not conveniently located, and overnight parking will cost you $$, which you factor into the cost, it's actually the same price. Once we stepped into the lobby, you can feel a certain level of comfortness, elegance, and sophistication. This hotel is not modern, but doesn't feel outdated. There's a distinctive quality. We were warmly greeted by the concierge/front desk person. He was very friendly, helpful, informative, hospitable, and made us feel very welcomed. Our room was a decent size with a lot of natural light coming in. With the park across, you have excellent privacy. One of the perks was the heated bathroom floors! They also FREE guest laundry. That was another reason why I chose this hotel because it was our last stop, and we could do laundry before heading home. One of the housekeepers was really nice and kind. The staff overall were friendly. It's the small details and kind gestures that made our stay memorable, even if it was just for one night. Providing complimentary coffee or tea when we arrived, the extra care and effort when we needed something, and giving us a free teddy (George) bear too! I'll definitely come back to stay at The George on my next visit to Christchurch!

A bit pricey relative to other "luxury" hotels. No real grounds to speak of. Hotel definitely geared to those 65+ with decor and piped in scent that reminded me of my papaw. Would elevate to five star if updated.

While one should always expect pleasantry in the hospitality business, the couple that keep this accommodation running are absolute gems. Kind, helpful, funny -- they epitomize the Kiwi spirit. I was originally booked to stay here for just one night, my first evening on the South Island. I was traveling alone and didn't need much space, but lo and behold fate smiled upon me and I was placed into a sprawling apartment with two levels and three bedrooms. I've encountered expensive Airbnb stays that weren't as well apportioned and well kept as this suite. Full kitchen, expansive living room with access to a private courtyard, multiple showers, a jetted tub -- it truly was a nice experience. Families and larger groups would be wise to seek out this option for a stay in Christchurch, particularly since it's so close to the airport and State Highway 1. Getting downtown to the CBD is a longer trek, of course. I didn't take advantage of it but the motel offers an airport shuttle as well. Qantas struggled with keeping my checked luggage in order, I'm afraid, so I found it necessary to remain in Christchurch another night. These folks kindly found a way to make space for me, and on my second night's stay I moved over to a two bedroom suite elsewhere on the grounds. And it was nearly as fancy as that massive apartment I had on night one! Again with a full kitchen (just not quite as large), private courtyard, and jetted tub. The only drawback was that there was only one bathroom, not a huge issue for me but might be a concern if the unit were occupied by multiple people. I will be back in Christchurch soon, and I've already booked another room here, so I would certainly recommend this facility to others.

Full Mini kitchen with pans, microwave, utensils, plates, cups, toaster, knives, etc. everything you'll need to cook something. Clean room. Hair dryer and clothing line to hang clothes to dry is provided. Towels are provided along with shampoo and soap. Complementary milk for coffee/tea. Hot water pot is provided too. Free shuttle service to and from airport. The only downside is that the receptionist picks and drops people off at the airport so she may not be in the office at certain times. And reception isn't 24 hours. It ends at 9pm. So if you're arriving late to the motel, you'll have to email when you're arriving and instructions will be provided. Highly recommend this place for an overnight stay!!!!

It is conveniently located literally next to the Tramway Restaurant and next to several restaurants and boutiques and within walking distance to RE:Start mall, and the Art Museum. Staff was very friendly, helpful and quick to assist us with our luggage. In addition, they were very kind and happy to assist us in locating the sites we were interested in seeing. Our room was very clean, modern and had AC!! In the room were the important conveniences to me- a safe, mini fridge, microwave and hair dryer. Our particular room had a nice huge window with a view of one of the many art murals they have around the city. In addition, they even printed out a notification that I guess was sent to the hotel Informing us of our one way excursion to Queenstown with our pick up time for the next am at our hotel and other specifics which was slid under our door in a nice envelope. I would highly recommend this hotel due for all the above reasons. Their breakfast is fairly good and decent- ranging from cold/hot cereals , fruits to meats/veggies. They even have vegemite and marmite if you've never tried it.

The hotel lobby is quite small, as is the restaurant and the breakfast buffet is more limited than other hotels. The gym has just a few machines and some free weights in it but it has a sauna and two full-size bathrooms for guest to use. Elevators are tiny and take forever to get to you, and they also weirdly malfunction and send you down when you were starting to go up. Overall though, it is clean and modern and a nice hotel.
