Is this my favorite restaurant in the world? I don't know. It's hard to compare all of the meals and all of the places I have eaten at in my lifetime. Literally thousands of lunches. So I don't know if it's my absolute favorite. But it's close. Really close. Like it's definitely on the list. It's in contention. It's on the podium. Why? The greatest pasta in a land known for pasta. Cheese wheels like automobile tires. Some dude in the corner carving up a rabbit. Like, it's kinda amazing. Everyone talks about this magical place. On my very first night in Italy my friends took me here. Citta della Pieve is an amazing town and Coppetta Bruno was absolutely perfect. We started with a bottle of the house white which was only about 13 euros but delicious. We all shared an order of pici cacio e pepe. The waiter came out with a wheel of Parmesan cheese where he swirled fresh cooked pici pasta into the warm cheese. This is what Mac and cheese really should taste like. My friend and I ordered the special which was pork with some kind of prunes and just a little bit of magic. I'm not sure what my friend's husband ate but the whole meal was outstanding. Go just go. This is real family Umbria Italian. Everything we had here was house-made and of the highest quality. Just go.

We had dinner at Coppetta on a busy Saturday night. Our group of 6 started with two plates of prosciutto and an out of this world cheese and onion pizza. We then each had a pasta. I definitely won the pasta round. Mine was a thin pasta like spaghetti in a white sauce with ground chicken and mushrooms. It was a huge portion, so I was able to get my fill and still share with everyone who wanted some of it, without wanting to stick a fork in anyone's hand for taking my food. My husband had pici, which is a thick pasta we do not have in the US. It was delicious, but mine was better! However, he won the entree round with a roasted chicken that was tender, juicy and so flavorful. Mine was a cubed chicken that was good, but the roasted was far better, and by this time I was so full I did not eat more than a couple bites. I love Italy for being so dog friendly. A friend in our group brought her dog in, and no one batted an eye. Mind you, this is a nice, white tablecloth kind of restaurant. The dog behaved very well and sat in the corner, not disturbing anyone or begging for food (much better than my dogs would have behaved). Our bill was very reasonable, in fact, I could not believe between all the appetizers, wine, pasta and entrees that it only came to 168 Euros for 6 people. The owner was very concerned if we'd had a good meal and apologized they were so busy when we came in. We had impeccable food and service, so he had no reason to be concerned. However, it was nice to know he has such a high standard for customer satisfaction. read more

6 of us stopped in for a fantastic lunch. It was wonderful food and very nice service. We sat right down and the group had risotto, soup, and bruschetta for appetizers. All were fantastic. Then we had the second course of the mixed grill (lamb, sausage, chicken, pork), goose gnocchi, and mixed vegetables. The meat was unbelievable. The prices were very reasonable (~5€ appetizer and 9€ per main dish). The hearth fireplace was a very nice, cozy touch and they cut all the meat up right in front of you. read more
