The owners "Duska and Todd" have an eye for design. They always stock the most interesting items…read morethat just bring out some great memories of times past. They also repurpose items as well. I have a tea pot light fixture!

We were in Charleston, IL for a friend's wedding and had hours to kill so we hit every antique shop…read morewithin 10 miles. We started out at Persimmon Lane and blew our entire budget there. It was a waste and a let down to even hit the other stores because all we could think of was everything we coveted at Persimmon Lane that we preferred to spend our money on so we came back a second time at the end of the day and spent more than we budgeted for and have no regrets. If our car was larger, we would have bought even more. Now we have a reason to come down to Charleston again. We haven't found an antique shop this great in three years, and the owners are the nicest, most helpful people you will find anywhere in retail. If you love industrial antiques, you will not leave Persimmon Lane without something cool. We bought a complete transit with box, instructions, and even receipt from 1948. The original owner paid $100.00, and we paid $130.00 - 64 years later. We thought it was a reproduction, it was in such perfect shape. We bought two, identical load cells from a large scale for $40.00 each, and lastly, we bought a Tandy, computerized chess game for $15.00. We didn't have room in the car for a giant, handmade, wood pulley for $95.00 that would have made an amazing coffee table. There were railroad spikes 4 for $10.00. If I had a better imagination, I would have bought them too. Persimmon Lane has an etsy page (very limited selection from their shop) and a facebook page (lots of updated photos of new stock) so I think I'll be shopping online from them. My friend in Charleston will be getting a gift certificate from Persimmon Lane for Christmas, as he told me he shops there once a week. How I envy his access!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I'm not one to do this, but knowing the people who own this shop…read moreit astonished me that they are like this. I would've never known. I went to highschool with the owner and worked with her for a bit and I thought she was really nice until I realized what she has done to bring down the lqbtq+ community. As someone who is apart of the community I can tell it it hurts to find these things out. Honestly, I grew up in this town and it breaks my heart to see businesses hate on groups of Individuals that did absolutely nothing to them, if you associate or are an alliance with the lqbtq+ community please DONT do business with them. They have made fun of, mocked and degraded the community, calling it the "alphabet community" completely disregarding any kind of respect. As a business owner you should never push your religion upon anyone and respect anyone who comes through your doors. It shows a lack of respect for your clientele. In Christian religion, it seems so common place now to mock and degrade people apart of this community and to judge them. That seems far from God to me, as he wanted his children to love and accept everyone. From what everyone's understanding is, In Christian religion you are not the judge jury or executioner. Only "God" is. Y'all have lost all touch of what your religion truly stands for. More and more I see people apart of this religion taking these lack of morals and ethics and implying them on others who may not fit in their group. It's sad to see people who stand under God hurt and judge others. It's sad to see a lack of understanding within their own religion. If anyone is getting judged by God per YOUR Bible it will be the people who claim to stand under God but really stand under hate and judgmental actions. God didn't put you on this earth to hate and judge others. He didn't put you here to spread his word that has been misconstrued for hundreds of years. From my understanding I was made to love and accept everyone and to support others and to stand up for what's right. As business owners you should be absolutely ashamed of how you've been treating others. We all are human, we are not robots. If you want to believe a Bible re written over and over do your thing but at the very least be kind and try to open your mind a little. We are all human, not perfect. Please do better in the future. P.s. if your children or family ever come to you and know they are apart of the community I hope you are kind to them and understanding and supportive because everyone seems to think people chose to be Gay. Please do better.
