I confirmed with receptionist they were Delta Dental PPO provider, weprovided our delta dental information. My husband and I were seen twice, consult and teeth cleaning plus 3-cavaties filled for me. We paid out of pocket over 600.00. All to find out from Delta Dental that THEY ARE NOT Delta Dental providers and we owe over $1,300.00?! I don't even know where to start! I have been going to Dr Al-Samarrai for a few years, He is the best. The office staff is kind, and smiley and efficient. They are on top of the scheduling, and will return calls. I have been to both offices and both are upbeat, clean and are full of the latest technology and equipment. In all my years, (74), Dr. Al-Samarrai is the FIRST dentist that has not hurt me. His techniques are advanced and the equipment is top notch. He even cleans my teeth. Laura, the hygienist, is kind and gentle on the gums. When she is done cleaning, my teeth feel clean. Copper Canyon Dentistry made a believer of me. When Dr. Al-Samarrai said no pain, He means it. He fixed a cavity using a laser machine. I did not feel anything. I have bad teeth and bad gums and there was no hurt or any pain afterwards. No pain deadening agents, shots or the like. My husband went to see Dr. Hakam Al-Samarrai using the $99 new patient offer (since moved up to $199). I went with him because I am also looking for a new dentist because I will be losing my dental insurance. We had a bad experience and my frustrations with this office continue to this day. Firstly we were made to wait over an hour! The whole visit for x-rays and cleaning was 2 hours. Unbelievable. My husband was complaining of gum soreness and minor inflammation. The dentist probed his periodontal pockets for evidence of gum disease. Apparently he probed so hard my hard-as-nails husband who lives with chronic pain and went days with no pain meds while passing a KIDNEY STONE was crying from the pain of this probing. He said tears were pouring down the sides of his face and the dentist either didn't notice or didn't care. I once went 15 years without seeing a dentist and had my pockets probed and it was a painless experience. No way should my husband be crying. But I know that heavy probing leads to larger measurements and more "evidence" that a patient should have a deep cleaning. Obviously I can't know that was the doctor's reason for such painful probing but it IS one reason SOME dentists do that. I don't know what kind of cleaning this dentist did, but I could still see visible rings of plaque above the gumline after the cleaning. I understand that nothing can be done beneath the gumline without a deep cleaning, but I do think the plaque ABOVE the gumline, sitting on the visible areas of the tooth should be eliminated with a regular cleaning. His teeth are still rough in those spots too, so I know it's plaque left behind and not discoloration. I believe the reason for this crap cleaning is because the dentist just wanted to push him to a $1700 deep cleaning. None of my husband's pockets were that bad, especially considering minor inflammation and deep probing. I believe it was reasonable for the dentist to perform a good cleaning, recommend a waterpik, and re-evaluate in a few months. Instead, he brought us into his "sales office" and pushed us to make a new appointment. It was weird and nothing I've experienced before. My husband has a dentist in his family, so we discussed with him, and also I was an ICU RN for years, and learning about teeth is no different than learning about any other body system, so I'm not an idiot about this stuff. I asked if there was any bone loss, as I saw none on his x-rays, and thankfully the dentist was honest about this and said there wasn't really any. More evidence that we could have had a cleaning and waited a few months. For me, I had DEEP pockets (6+) AND bone loss, so I had the deep cleaning after my 15 years with no professional care. My husband goes to the dentist every year. We got a recommendation for a different dentist and I wanted his records transferred. I emailed and was ignored. I left a message and the return voicemail indicated I could text my request. I texted and was told that someone would call me Monday. Monday came and went and I got upset and asked if I should just come in person to the office. Then I got a form for my husband to sign and told it would be SEVENTY-FIVE dollars!!! For that, I asked for all the notes and the x-rays. Thankfully we got the x-rays but no notes. I wanted those pocket measurements! I emailed back requesting those notes and of course I have been ignored AGAIN for the last 3 days. I honestly don't know how this dentist has so many good reviews. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist. If you are looking for EXCELLENT care go see May Conte, DDS. She is superior. Maybe she just makes all the other dentists look bad. I don't know. Also - I think I saw this dentist take something out of his pocket and put it in my husband's mouth. My husband got influenza A one day later and had a fever of 102.6. Of course I can't be sure it came from the dentist but that is the most likely source. The exam room looked really crappy too. Paint peeling and scuffed up equipment. Office experience is horrible. I'm still paying for services not rendered. We stopped services when they finally asked us to pay 37,000 of dental work like a cost of a car. They did not even disclose they are out of network. The staff do not give call backs and they just debit payment w/out authorization. When I called back, I was told that the dental insurance denied the claim, so now i had to pay all the services out of pocket. I first went to Dr. Poitras many years ago specifically because I was seeking out sedation dentistry to have a bunch of cavities filled after no dental care for a while. They did a great job and I continued going to that office. All the hygienists were kind and always offered things like numbing mouthwash or laughing gas for cleanings because they knew I had such bad dental anxiety. Faye and Yvonne in the front office were always so kind and helpful to talk with. But after Dr. Poitras retired and Dr. Samarrai took over, it was downhill from there. Each time I went there would be different hygienists working there (and I was going every 6 months). And the prior office staff are all gone, replaced by younger kids. Dr. Samarrai tried to upsell me on Invisalign, and when I pressed him whether is was "medically necessary" he wouldn't give me a straight answer. I'll probably be looking elsewhere for a different dentist going forward. read more

I moved into the area recently seeking a dentist based on reviews and logistics. I made an appointment for a full exam. Cleaning, X-rays etc. The cleaning was subpar quick and didn't seem very thorough. The polishing was extremely fast ( basically a once over and it was done) moreover it was suggested based on an oral exam that my gums have receded ( I've. Been made aware of this by my former dentist) However to my surprise it was stated that I need 21-22 teeth bonded and I have 2 cavities in my wisdom teeth. A bit taken back I had a discussion with the dr in a private room he presented me a bill totaling $6500. However if I sign up for his annual $600 a year plan he would drop it by $1000. But if I pay for a credit card it's this and if I pay cash it's that. Seems a lot of money negotiating going on. Not really the experience I would expect from a new doctor nor one as a patient. Moreover as the conversation continues the dr states how will I be paying and how do I usually pay for things, doing a double take I simply stated I will have to think this over. Needless to say I'm not buying a car here. Today , I went back to my previous dr where I use to reside. I took the X-rays with me and a very thorough review and examination was conducted. It was determined I no cavities in my two wisdom teeth as it was clearly stated to me additionally, I only need 6 teeth bonded . Final bill $1750. I absolutely never post or write a review as I will approach the dr or staff face to face to discuss my dissatisfaction with how all this was handled. Always get a second opinion read more

The office of the ever rotating staff. When Dr. Poitras owned the office it was always a great experience. I felt that Dr. Poitras and his staff genuinely cared about me and my family. We went there for 15+ years. Then Dr. Hakam took over and it has never been the same. I honestly felt like he tainted the well known Poitras legacy. The hygienists have always been amazing (5+ stars) but the staff was never the same each time I went in! Each time I would go back for cleanings the unfamiliar faces made me so uncomfortable due to the lack in continuity and it also let me know that there was a MAJOR owner issue. Also, when he tried to recommend a bone graft for my 89 yr old grandfather after an extraction of a wisdom tooth... I was DONE! Thank goodness my grandpa told me because he would have went forward with it. I had him get a second opinion and the dentist told him there was absolutely NO reason for that. Dr. Hakam is very pushy about treatment and paying up front. I have heard him with other patients as well and it is so cringy to hear. He does not let no mean no. I told him I did not want to do Invisalign treatment with him and he would still ask me every visit. I started to get so uncomfortable and began looking elsewhere. First reason is why would I want a large $6k payment plan that I can only pay in office over a period of 4 months when I can go to a specialist and pay the same amount over 12 months with no interest?? Second, I would never get orthodontic treatment with a general dentist, leave that to the SPECIALISTs. I found out he is not a specialist at all. He is a general dentist but sells specialty treatment which is a major problem! Means he did not get the extra schooling to do specialty procedures but will try to do it to get the extra money from naïve patients. Also, my front crown never fit correctly and it was an ongoing process for 8 months!! I tried to ask for my money back and he kept begging me to let him try again. I wasted so much time and it still doesn't feel right. I should have demanded my money back now that I think of it. However, I will not be returning to that office nor will my grandfather due to the poor customer service from Dr. Hakam and also because we felt more like walking dollar signs than valued patients. Patients can feel the the negative energy from him and the staff seem very unhappy. Please do your research before moving forward and If it doesn't feel right...it's not! read more
