We were able to get a look at how the wine is made, stored and bottled! Then we sat down for a tasting. I especially enjoyed the "L'eternelle Favorite" Rose! I very much enjoyed our visit at this gorgeous chateau! My absolute favorite part was learning that this Chateau has been almost entirely women owned since the 1700s! It is family owned and has been passed down to the women of the family for generations!

Hervé & his son…read moreRomain Sauvage have assembled an amazing collection of wines and are incredibly knowledgeable about all the regional and International wines. When visiting in person, you can often find a case of something that was one of a very limited number. If you are lucky enough to pass by Le Cellier before lunch or in the late afternoon, you may well be offered a taste of one or two special wines including some exceptional white and Rosé in the summer, the perfect aperitif as you make your wine selections. The prices are some of the best prices we have found for great wines, Cognac, Armagnac, etc. and whenever we order or stop by we buy more than we had intended to. If you have the chance to visit the shop, I encourage you to do so. There is a charming pizza restaurant in La Garde Freinet and you can purchase wine after an entertaining and educational conversation with Hervé and/or Rom and then stop for some great thin crust pizza. A visit to Le Cellier will be one of your most memorable moments from any visit to the South of France.
