Unlike a lot of the other Migros, this one not only has the self check out machines, but also the scanner so you can see exactly what you've bought, how much you are spending, and how much you are saving while you shop. Then just return the scanner and pay at a kiosk. So efficient and convenient. Light years ahead of the rest of them! Another reason why Kreis 5 is the best place to live in Zürich.

This particular station is like a neighborhood supermarket. They have everything you need for your home - May it be in the bathroom, home office, kitchen or dining room. They have cheeses and chocolates - things the Swiss are known for. Frey is a huge chocolate brand in Migros. Almost all of their shelves in the chocolate aisle is filled with Frey chocolates in different varieties. I picked up a basket-full of Frey chocolates and Ragusa chocolates. Any bar of chocolate that has hazelnuts, I bought. I skipped on the cheese and the raclette warmer/ melter - very tempting but I had no more room in my luggage. Easy checkout process using their self-service kiosk. Their (plastic) shopping bags are rather small so you might want to bring your own bag if you're planning to buy a lot of items.

Most tourists come here to get food at the fraction of the cost from eating at restaurants. I was getting tired of eating Swiss food so, I went here since I know they have pretty much everything. Sandwiches, deli meats and cheeses, fresh fruits, fruit cups, fruit bowls, sushi, pastries (both sweet and savory), pizza, salads, octopus salad, shrimps, salmon tartare, Mediterranean food, Middle Eastern food, chicken breast, samosas. Pastas you can reheat. It's also a good place to get some Swiss snacks, drinks, protein bars and ice cream. I grabbed sushi, salad and chicken breast. You do have to pay for utensils. The bad: the cashier was rude and was rushing us at the self-checkout counter - nobody needs your help, nobody needs your attitude. Like if you're bored and there's nobody in line, go make yourself useful and do something else. The rice on the sushi was a lot and it was dry which made it worse. The fish was thinly sliced. I must say that this grocery store is much more organized than the ones in the US. It has a wider variety of products as well. If I understand correctly, the Swiss stores are a little different than the Aldi North & Aldi South division stores. It's a subsidiary of Aldi South, yet it has its own name. It's concept is focused on a higher quality, and even has its own private-label brand of organic products. I believe it has to do with the fact that Aldi competes with Migros in this market. So, they had to adapt. Honestly, it didn't even feel like an Aldi when walking around the store. I should have bought a couple of boxes of the true cherry & liquor filled Mon Cheri that I spotted in a display. I love Mon Cheri chocolates! The prices were actually quite reasonable for Switzerland. I can see why it's popular. The purchase was quick and easy. They have automated self-checkout areas as well as the usual checkout. I didn't see the long line of people that I normally see in the US. The service is very quick. It was a good shopping experience!

A plus is that this is located directly across the street from my favorite Chinese/Asian supermarket in town, Lian Hua (at Berninaplatz) and next to the Migration Bureau. The bonuses of this store include: - Carries Nespresso capsules, quite convenient when you don't want to stop by the regular store on Saturdays (like a zoo). Downside: they don't carry decaf and there is no free tasting. - A bigger than usual Zurich city variety of various goods. Like large variety of party goods (cups, disposable utensils, etc) and office supplies. Lots of discounted "packages" of goods like laundry detergent, etc, available here. Also sells one off stuff like portable grills, BBQ sets, etc that are cheap and cheery (I don't use these as I use brand name BBQ utensils for my home). - Not extremely overcrowded. - A separate Tchibo section for those who care (I don't). - Reasonably priced items.
