They have been working short staffed due to an employee that recently had a medical emergency that…read morerequired time to grieve and a severe loss to that person. They hired someone to do insurance billing for them, but because they were short staffed, they let that person go after only one partial day of training. Then they contacted the person that was out from the medical emergency and loss and wanted her to come back to work, only days after the incident happened, without even letting them have time to get over their loss. I would not want to go to a dentist office that treats their employees this badly. If they don't care about their employees, they are not going to care about their patients.

Going to the dentist isn't the most comfortable thing, but the horrible smell and freezing temperatures inside her office cause discomfort before the appointment begins. She's extremely friendly, but she is so loud and kept referring to me as "friend" I assumed she didn't know my name. She told me I needed 2 root canals but only 1 crown. I needed some fillings and I figured I would have to book a new appointment for that since this was just a checkup, cleaning and assessment. But she didn't even look inside my mouth. She looked at the X-rays and told me she didn't do root canals so I'd have to go to a specialist. She refused to perform the check up and wouldn't be cleaning them. This was so bizarre. I got the information for the root canal "specialist" & tried to book another appointment with her for fillings. She told me she wouldn't be doing anything until the root canals were completed. A week later while getting my root canals the doctor informed me that I likely needed 4 not 2. I explained that Dr Mongelli said she could fill the other 2. I watched him turn to his assistant and shake his head. It was so obvious that he has dealt with Dr. Mongelli's recommendations and seemed irritated and frustrated that I was given bad advice. I went with the original 2 and followed up with Mongelli. She told me it wasn't necessary and they were just trying to make a buck. I wanted a crown on both of them but she told me that it wasn't necessary. 1 would be fine. It took me 3 more visits to get 5 fillings and a crown placed. I also never got that cleaning done. A few weeks later I got a very large bill. I called her office to get it fixed since I have insurance. They told me I didn't give them insurance info so I would have to pay them and request reimbursement. I definitely gave them my insurance and there was no way I was paying her 4 grand for 5 fillings and a crown. They refused to take my info over the phone and told me that I failed to provide it before the bill generated and I would have to deal with getting a reimbursement. She then asked for my credit card over the phone for payment. I told them I would just come down to the office and work it out. She told me not to come to her office ever again and if I didn't pay the full bill she was sending it to collections. I decided to call the state and my insurance to see what I needed to do. I had to call her back for the billing codes and was met with the same nasty attitude. She interrupted me and asked for my credit card, I explained I was on the other line with insurance and needed billing codes. She let out a loud "ugh" and said that I could deal with the collection agency because she wasn't wasting anymore energy on me. 2 weeks later while eating a taco my back tooth broke. And by broke l, I mean crumbled. It was a soft taco. I found another dentist and he informed me 4 fillings were missing. He was able to get my records from her and those 4 fillings are the ones she just did. That broken tooth was the one she said she could rebuild and a crown wasn't necessary. I am now getting bills from collections for her because I can't do anything with my insurance if they don't know what was billed. I gave them permission to get my bill from her and discuss the charges, but after 3 phone calls left on hold or disconnected my insurance told me they weren't able to get anything from her. The new dentist I went to is on the board and he let me know this would be addressed. That dentist also let me know that I did need the other 2 root canals. Please!!!! Do not go to this dentist.

I have had my teeth worked on at much "fancier" dental clinics in big cities with expensive equipment but they definitely didn't provide the level of expertise and care that I receive at RMDC. The staff here seem to be very experienced, they communicate so well with each other, they do just what needs doing and nothing unnecessary (as far as I can tell, not being a dentist myself). Their office may not be flashy, and Dr. Sheahan can be a bit quiet at first, but don't let these things put you off! I've only ever received great care there.

I…read morealways feel like a priority when I'm there, no matter what I'm having done whether it's an exam and cleaning, fillings, or a consultation about how my teeth appear, I've always felt heard. Going to the dentist isn't easy for a lot of people and I'm one of them. I don't have to white knuckle through visits though because I know he'll get the area he'll be working in nice and numb, so we're ready to go. He has never not once, over charged me for a service, and will talk through everything before we begin, allowing me to be confident in what will be provided for that visit. I moved to Virginia in late fall of 2024 (husband is on active duty there), and I attempted to get established with Dentists of Arlington and my experience was so terrible, that I now fly home to Montana and have my annual check-ups and periodic cleanings with Dr. Erwin. I'll not have it any other way. The staff in his office are so kind and very good at solving problems and lending their expertise by providing the most welcoming feeling when making appointments, flexibility with rescheduling and helping with insurance coverage questions. This is really a top shelf, A+, patient centered dental office. My entire family sees Dr. Erwin- both kids, and my parents too! I highly recommend Dr. Erwin for all dental needs, he's simply fabulous!
