Change their attitude. Rude and entitled. I walked ini yesterday and followed a heavenly smell to where two girls were roasting coffee. When I asked what it was, they looked at me like I was from Mars. I repeated myself and one of the girls answered, but immediately added I couldn't buy any. I didn't say anything but I'm sure I looked surprised. Someone behind the counter called "you have to order online." But I was right there with credit card in hand. It was cold and sleeting outside. The store wasn't crowded. Is this any way to run a business? I have always felt the people in this stor were snotty. But they have several teas that i enjoy, so i put up with it....until yesterday. ..That was the last time I'll spend any money in that shop. I don't know how they have survived with this attitude. Went here with my parents on Tuesday June 11th 2024, as part of our long beach vacation. We decided to check out historic smithville for some shopping. This was our last stop before heading to our next destination. First off, when you enter, the smell of coffee hits one right in the nose. I am a 20 year customer faithfully buying my flavored and unflavored coffee there, I will tell you I enjoyed their coffee, but one visit a few months ago, I bought the usual coffees I always buy. The next day I made a pot of coffee and I was astonished how much more the coffee had been beautifully roasted and was so much more flavorful than it had been. The next week I spoke to the owners Amy and Brian and come to find out Brian who is a master roaster has now taken over the roasting process and the results are amazing. In speaking with Amy I could see the enthusiasm in bringing forth a new love to their establishment. They are introducing new blends which I have tried and are excellent, I am so looking foward to exploring the new coffees and I am enjoying each pound I have purchased! This is a fun specialty store to browse while in historic Smithville village. When you walk in, you are immediately hit with a pungent smell of roasting coffee beans. This will make you want to stand in line to the little window to purchase a hot cup of their coffee (or a cold brew, or hot chocolate or chai tea!). Their hot beverages are very reasonably priced but the items in their store are touristy prices. Most of their products have some relation to cooking and kitchen such as sauces, baking mixes and kitchen gadgets but there are many other things too. Check your receipt! While the store itself is cute and I enjoy shopping there when in town, I recently visited and purchased a tin of cookies for $6.99. My credit card was charged $69.99. They use an older POS system where they type in the amount, so I'm sure it was an accident. I reached out to the store to try to resolve the issue. They took my phone number down, said they were very busy, and never called back. I live out of state so couldn't stop in. I didn't ask for a receipt at the time of purchase because it was such a small amount... Which left me in a tough spot. Overall I'm just disappointed that a long-standing community shop would be so unresponsive. Moral of the story - ask for a receipt and/or pay cash. read more

I visited this shop and spent "lotsa moneyyy" #pliesvoice. No really! There was too much for a tea and coffee lover like myself to spend money on. Haul Deets: I purchased two different balsamics vinaigrettes (who does that); a Misto for my grape seed oil (it's basically an oil sprayer ); two different types of their amaze smelling coffee; loose leaf strawberry black tea because ; white truffle oil; and two of these ridiculously awesome smelling candles. I got coffee candy; a honey pot; cute black mason jar S&P shakers; a red loose leaf kettle for a steal; annnnnnnd a chocolate milk mixer cup...because WHO DOESN'T LOVE CHOCOLATE MILK?!??? I needed a quick pick me up and hot coffee sounded about right, so we headed over to Cooks Corner..the first thing you smell is the beautiful aroma of the coffee gods wafting deliciously through the store, oh soooo good!! but when I went to go purchase my cuppa the line I though was for checkout of store goods was actually the coffee line AND they only take cash, really? I had to pass on that-- BUT I did buy 1/2 lb of both the Chocolate Raspberry and Blueberry coffee and a box of the Moroccan Mint Tea for Mini-Me (best tea for when you are feeling under the weather) The store is full of stuff for anyone who loves to cook, drinks coffee or tea, they have tea sets, coffee jars, a nice variety of hot sauces and oil/vinegar seasoning for dipping bread and if you manage to be able to venture further into the store you can find lots of cool kitchen gadgets. Great shop with a variety of coffee, cocktail, and soup mixes. They offer any dips or sauces you can think of too. A must stop shop for any cooking lover. The reason for five stars was the excellent customer service. My boyfriend was looking for a Bloody Mary mix and asked a staff member who was unloading boxes for assistance. He proceeded to stop what he was doing and not only show him where the mixes were but explain his recommendations and offer him mixes that he hadn't unloaded yet. Gotta hand it to Adam.. He owns the Cooks Corner Store in Smithville Village . They have a huge collection of vintage cookie jars which I collect...so...listen to this... I was in there a few weeks ago and asking if they happen to have a Mr Peanut cause I had one with a broken top hat .. .and couldnt find any replacement on Ebay or other sites. .he said he thought he may have just the hat in his trailer of items. He told me to come back in a week and he would let me know. Ok...so we go back today and yes! He found it...Just gave it to me NO Charge! I couldnt believe it. ! This cookie jar is no longer made..it was from a Nabisco Catalog book which is out of print. He said his Mom was an avid cookie jar collector too and it did his heart good to make another collector happy ! Im gonna have to bake him a cake to show my appreciation for sure ! read more

Come here quite often to purchase coffees and sauces. Today, I went in to order a coffee and while I was at the counter to order a woman behind the register so rudely told me my small dog couldn't be in there. I said oh sorry I'm just grabbing a coffee she said "uh no dogs - there's food in here". Besides it being embarrassing in front of other customers it was rude. She could have just let me get my coffee and go being that I had already waited for my turn with my dod sitting at my feet quietly. I have come in here many times before with my dog and noone has ever said anything. I didn't get her name but will never come here again. There are nicer ways to tell customers that the way she did. Also, there is no sign stating "no dogs". read more

Holy smokes this is a must visit shop if visiting Smithville and you're a coffee whore. They have a selection of terrific coffees to choose from that are freshly ground on the premises. The store has a bunch of teas, jams, sauces, snacks, and other munchies and coffee brewing and kitchen items too. Loved how it smelled when we walked in. What really stood out for us were the iced and frozen drinks here. When we walked in there was a line of people placing orders at a small window in the wall where a staff member was making the drinks. We grabbed an iced mocha and a frozen hot chocolate which were both delicious and perfect to sip on the drive home. Whipped cream on top, of course! Sexy! read more

They are located right next door the the Smithville Bakery in Historic Smithville. I don't know exactly how one would describe Cook's Corner. It's a gourmet shop, but it's so much more. I guess one way to describe it is whole lotta CRAZY. Sure, they have a huge selection of coffee, tea, jams, spices and so on. But, they also stock a massive amount of different hot sauces from all over the country. Hundreds of cookie jars, tea pots and other kitch goodies that have no place in my heterosexual adult male life, but I still like to marvel at. The only thing I ever actually buy is the hot sauce. A great place to find teas and coffees of every flavor. Its generally crowded and you will feel like a bull in a china shop, but it's worth poking your head in for finding weird random kitchen items. Whenever I say I've never been to a place, my mom immediately becomes offended and says "Yes, you have!" Then she goes on to say it was when I was a baby. Well, during my globe-trotting as a toddler, I supposedly made a stop in Smithville, NJ. Don't recall the place, but I had the chance to go back the other day and relive some of those great childhood memories my mom promises me I have. In the area for my sister's college graduation, we decided to head over to Smithville after the ceremony. My favorite of all their little shops was definitely Cook's Corner. I love stores that have food options you don't normally see. So does my dad. The man jumps on snacks, seasonings and sauces that he's never heard of before. Some of his recent gifts to me have been black bean dip, jerk seasoning, and ground bay leaves. Needless to say, my dad was in heaven here as well. I loved all the small aisles that are fully committed to things like hot sauce, barbeque sauce, olive oil, salsa, and seasoning mixes. Spend about 20 minutes looking around this tiny shop and had a ball. So much cool stuff that you'll never ever seen in your local grocery store. My dad ended up buying something for me, my sister and himself.. I picked out the apple pancake and waffle mix, my dad bought my sister olive oil seasoning for dipping, and got himself a bottle of bacon ketchup. He really just wanted to get the bacon ketchup for all three of us, but I was able to talk him out of it. Really liked this place. They also have a little drink stand that has really good lemonade. My only complaint is that the prices in the store are pretty high, but apparently so if everything else in Smithville. Cute little area, really cool store! read more

It's very funny once I was looking at the reviews I read one very similar to mine. I live very close to the Shops. So I had a friend down so what better place to visit. We walked over with my 7 lb Yorkie. Since I know all the shops are very animal friendly. Well I needed to get a gift a so we went into Cook Corner. Since it's a very unique store. I found something was holding did I mention SERVICE DOG in line. This nasty lady came up to me she said "dogs are not allowed to be in the place because they sell food" I said would you like me to leave. She was like it's ok. The cashier was very nice commenting on how cute he us. I apologized for bringing him in. Am I soppier to tie him to the railing? No where did it say NO DOGS! This was my second time over the holiday I was there. The last time I was solo and this SAME OLD WOMAN was nasty then too when I asked a question about a product. . Always a must when my family and I have visited Smithville as far back as I can remember. The smell alone when you walk in the front door reminds you of your favorite home town coffee shop or diner. I enjoy browsing all of the different sauces, oils, jams and cookware but I always enjoy their fresh roasted coffee beans the most. They have dozens of unique flavors (mmm....bourbon pecan) in all sizes whether its a large bag if you're a serious coffee drinker, or small single pot samples for $2.50 if you just like to dabble in flavors. They also have hot and cold drinks available made fresh at a service window, however the day we went, the coffee window was closed :-( If you get a chance to go in the winter, they have an amazing spiced hot chocolate. read more

This past weekend my two sisters and I visited Smithville and the stores and I instantly fell in love with Cooks Corner. I love stores that have things that you cannot find in regularly big box stores. As soon as you walk in you smell the coffee which smells delish! I purchased some tea and loose tea which to my surprise my sister had purchased me a tea pot for my loose tea (thanks sis). If I was a hot sauce lover I would go crazy in the store. I also purchased some coffee, we had a cup of Nutty Italian and it was so rich and good I will for sure go back and purchase some more. 5 years later, I figure it's time to update my review. Especially as I'm sitting with an amazing cup of Mexican Velvet Roast that I bought during my last visit to Cook's Corner over the Thanksgiving weekend. Cook's Corner still has an amazing selection of their own roasted coffee beans and coffee-making gadgets. I lean towards their single origin coffees and dark roasts more than the flavored coffees. There is always a friendly employee there to help you grind the beans to your desired grind as well. Besides coffee, they have a wonderful selection of loose teas, tea bags and tea paraphernalia and a wide variety of hot sauces, local honeys, spices and other condiments. The section towards the back with gadgets is fun to peruse as well. The store still gets tight to walk around, especially on busy weekends like Octoberfest, Mayfest or holiday weekends, but the line at the register moves pretty quickly. So, it's always worth a stop in Cook's Corner when you're in the greater Atlantic City area, especially if you're a fan of really good coffee. read more

The people who work there are average in regards to customer service and the prices are average for a touristy area. There is a coffee bar inside with a small menu. Their coffees are known for the added flavors rather than high quality espresso bars. It's a great place for people who are more so casual coffee drinkers than aficionados. My wife and I took our 4 lb tea cup yorkie to historic smithville village. We live near by and it was a beautiful day for a walk. It was so nice how we and our yorkie were welcomed in many of the shops we visited. Everyone loves him! Everyone except the WITCH over at cooks corner. My wife had him tucked in her jacket when we went in to get some ground coffee. Once the lady saw him she made my wife leave the store immediately. She even gave the poor girl at the counter and ear full for not seeing us before she did. I sure hope she tries this crap with someone who has a service dog!
