It was of one photo and it was, as I now know, quintessential Liam. It was dramatic, edgy and stunningly beautiful. There was no call to action except the distinct Applehead Studio logo. Eventually, I remembered to Google him and well, it was love at first sight. Since then, Liam has done a boudoir shoot for me, a "corporate" table sessions shoot for my business partners and I, and he's shooting my wedding this November. I'll be looking for an excuse to hire him again after that, I can assure you. The stunning beauty he captures, in his wedding and boudoir photography especially, will make any woman's head spin. Who doesn't want to look that amazing?? Anyone who appreciates authenticity and self expression - read, anyone who likes to keep it real - will love Liam's ability to capture your you-ness. Any lover of Surrealism will be easily wooed by the drama and interest he finds in every day objects and settings; the way he turns them into something so.much.more. And you know what else? Anyone with an aversion to frilly, fluffy stuff and fake niceties will also love Liam. He wears jeans, drinks beer, curses, laughs a lot, and isn't afraid to tell you about how kick ass awesome his wife and daughters are. How can you not appreciate that? Perhaps the best part? As his subject, you'll quickly realize that he absolutely loves his job and loves making you look good. This guy's the real deal, promise.

But what I love the most about Liam's work is that it's not the typical photojournalistic style that everyone else is doing. Yes, some of his images have that quality, but generally, his work is more art-like. Not dissimilar to a painting that has depth and layers, hidden nuances and stories, Liam's pictures are much the same. He looks for clues about his subject's personalities and then creates a portrait that brings those characteristics or stories to life. You could look at the same photo a dozen times and see something different every time you look at it. And while he sees the image in his mind's eye, it's the way he interacts with his subjects that ultimately brings the picture to life. On my 30th birthday, I did a boudoir photo shoot with Liam. I was nervous and uncertain, but the minute we started shooting, Liam made the experience fun and laid back. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I've since sent two friends to him for their own boudoir shoots. My business partners and I also had him do one of his signature Table Sessions as our corporate shot...we get more compliments on that photo than I could have ever expected. Bottom line: If you are going to do a boudoir photo shoot, go see Liam. You won't regret it. And if you're a bride looking for your wedding photographer, get him booked as fast as you can. This guy does killer work...you would be lucky to have him capture one of the most significant events of your life. Oh, yes, and he's a heck of a lot of fun, so you'll enjoy having him celebrate your big day with you, too.

It's lovely to have photos of the kids with their eyes open and their signature moves and quirky expressions on display, while they are hugged by all their favourite people. As a bonus, the photo shoot also seems to make a good present for the grandparents! Michelle is both professional and fun. (I am only giving her 4 out of 5 stars so you don't think I am biased!) She's got all the equipment -the right lens, the right light, the right toys- so that we can be ourselves and not have to worry about posing in exactly the right way in exactly the right spot at exactly the right time. I often find that her photos capture something of the deeper emotional bonds between family members - which aren't supposed to be visible on the outside, but she somehow manages to capture them anyway. That's very impressive. Highly recommended.

That alone set her apart. When she arrived for the shoot, she was prompt, prepared, and incredibly engaging. She made me feel at ease in front of the camera in a way I didn't expect. The session felt natural, comfortable, and even fun. When I received my photos, I was blown away. They were fabulous -they captured exactly who I am and what my business represents. Once I started using them to promote my work, people in the marketing industry - people who have used the same branding photographers for years - began reaching out to ask who shot my photos. That's how striking her work is. I truly can't say enough good things about Cassidy. If you need branding photos that elevate your business and genuinely reflect your identity, she's the one you want. Tammy Morse, RE, CPE Razor Free Electrolysis

I didn't like the prompts I was given in terms of the photos. "Lower your chin, more, more... look up... turn your head slightly to the right...and... SMILE." Yeah, that's going to be authentic looking. As a result, I wasn't terribly impressed with the photos. I didn't end up actually ordering any of them. I could have gone back for a free photo session, but I had a feeling my experience would be pretty much the same. Just a so-so experience at 'Calnen.'

I arrived at the studio with a friend who also wanted portraits, and the staff were awesome at accommodating us both. We were able to sit in the room as the photographer worked, instructing the model on how to pose. He was friendly, honest and genuine, telling us what did/didn't look good on camera. The shots came out very well, and both of us were pleased! I opted to go with the larger package (+$4 I believe) allowing me thumbnails of 16 poses to take home and review. We were told that we would receive the thumbnails by email within a few business days. After a week, we called the studio curious as neither of us had yet received the photos. They quickly sent them along, attaching the order form. Packages begin at $59 and range up to $306 depending on desired sizes. It was only then that I realized it would not be possible to order prints of more than one pose within one package. For example, my family only wanted three 8x10 prints, but I would have had to purchase three separate units. 1 unit = 1-8x10, 2- 5x7, 4-4x6, 8-2x3. I would have also liked full-size digital copies of various unedited photo proofs (as opposed to the provided thumbnails), but again when requested, I was told that this was not available. An edited, print-quality digital file of one pose is $200 unless added to a package ($75). Although I liked the quality of service provided by Calnen Photography, I was left disappointed by their lack of flexibility in ordering prints.
