I had an amazing experience with a customer service rep (Mafer). I had a bit misunderstanding about how the automatic refills work and called after the cutoff to cancel my order. Mafer politely explained how the service worked and helped my expectations moving forward. He was also able to update a coupon code that would affect my next 3 orders. CookUnity really helps me and my partner when we have busy days and just need something quick to eat that's tasty and easy. If you're an omnivore, there's a lot of options for you within a broad range of many types of cuisine. My partner is vegan, so we usually lean towards those options, and while there's not an extensive list of vegan options, there are a number of good ones. Often, my critiques are that I wish there were heartier servings or more vegetables to offer more of a balanced meal. I'm not cooking these days. For decades I cooked for my carnivore husband and 2 sons, my vegan daughter, and my pescatarian self. Once my kids moved out and my husband passed away, Cook Unity was the perfect answer for me. The variety is amazing, the flavors are good, and the food is fresh. I had a detail I thought they should know: a missing lemon wedge, and their response was immediate and they even compensated me! I tried 2 other meal delivery companies: one was too much work and the other one, I didn't approve of the plastic packaging and the choices didn't compare. Cook Unity lets me know almost to the minute when to expect my delivery. Ordering my meals (I order 6 weekly)- is fun, like being in a good restaurant, and the price is fair. I don't have produce going bad in my fridge, I use the time I'd spend shopping to do things that I much prefer, and I pick foods with healthy ingredients I wouldn't ordinarily have around. It's a time saver for me. I don't have to think about what to eat for lunch or dinner most days. I don't have to go out and buy lunches. There is plenty variety! It's been great. Sometimes they get an order mixed up or something doesn't taste well but that doesn't happen too often. I'm from NYC so perhaps our choices are better than other areas. I'm not sure. I don't get a shipment. I receive a hand delivery so I've never had meals that were delivered badly. I typically freeze half of the meals that would reheat well and eat them when I'm ready. I've been using CookUnity for just over a year now, after being gifted a subscription from some friends because I so clearly didn't have time to cook for myself. I absolutely love it, and I've gotten a number of friends to try it now too! As a vegetarian, there are usually around 70 main dishes I can choose from (not counting desserts, snacks, etc.), and I've yet to be disappointed. Occasionally I've had issues with deliveries getting cancelled or not being able to be left (being in NYC), but that's unusual, and when it has happened, customer service has been wonderful. I have tried a lot of food services. Cook Unity stands apart from the rest of the competition. I love the insulated black coolers and love the design of the individual containers the meals have to keep them fresh. The film over the top of the meal is firm but easy to come peel off after heating up. The meals look very appetizing and the portions satisfying. My favorite five star Michelin meal is lobster risotto. It was as good as any upper scale restaurant could serve. My husband and I are seniors and have health issues. There are a whole lot of choices - I believe it's over 200 or 250 to select. Ranging from vegetarian, vegan, fish, and meat. As far as the service you don't really meet the people who deliver the food because, the majority of the time I am at work when it is dropped off so I cannot say much. As far as their customer service department when filing a complaint, they are trying to understand when an issue needs to be resolved. I spoke to them how 7 of my meals from the past few months had spoiled from the food not cooling down before they enclosed the food with the plastic seal. I was refunded 2 meals and 20% off the next two weeks. Not sure how great that deal was after keeping my mouth shut for so long, over 3 months, and always letting the spoiled food be tossed before saying anything but, but after 7 times I had to speak up. I would have given them 5 stars but, tossing food away that had spoiled due to the fact, of the food not cooling before enclosed its 4 stars. Regardless, I still recommend CookUnity. We've been using Cook Unity on and off for several years, and usually rely upon it when our lives start to get very busy. Overall, we've had a very positive experience. Not all of the meals are winners, but there are so many options to choose from even for those with dietary restrictions. We have never had issues with deliveries, and any issues that we have encountered with missing meals, etc. have been quickly solved by the customer service team. I have to say I started using this company when I had hurt my right foot thru work and was stuck at home, unable to walk very far, unable to stand in the kitchen and cook, and unable to drive to the store or even walk around in there for very long. My solution? A company that makes great meals that are quick and easy to reheat but taste good enough that not even the pickiest of eaters (my husband) would like them as well. Did I find that place? Oh yes. All that and so much more! You can put into a filter your dietary restrictions (mine need to be low salt, low sugar and there's several things I'm allergic to so this worked out great!) and they'll line up the meals for the next delivery from top most recommended to the bottom ones (that contain the things you were filtering out). Not only do they have just about every kind of meat covered, but there's TONS of vegetarian options as well. For example, one of my favorites is their mushroom ragu over polenta. Oh my GOSH! This is so flavorful and delicious! Once in a while, I just crave a more vegetable laden entree. Not often, but when I do, they have it covered. There's salmon, talapia, branzino, trout, shrimp, lobster, even octopus that I've seen on their menus! There's all kinds of ways you can have your steak, chicken and pork as well. My favorite is duck and oh my. The chef who cooks the best duck I've had so far has it listed as "duck confit with bean cassoulet and zucchini fritter". At first, like probably everyone else, I was sceptical about whether their food would actually taste as good as the hype, I would try some of ALL the chef's dishes. After awhile though, I figured out whose cooking style I like the best and what were my favorite dishes. Chef Einat Admony has the flavors in her food that I crave the most. Chef Manuel Tortorella is the one with the duck confit dish I love so much and he also has a lamb ragout over polenta that's top notch in my book as well! I've discovered that I love sabzi-rubbed chicken and steak and have fallen in love with couscous as well! Who knew? You can get as few as I think 4 or 6 meals a week...up to 12 or more even. You can choose the day you'd prefer to have them delivered, you can skip weeks, put your plan on hold, end it whenever you like, but gosh. I don't think I'll ever be able to force myself to stand in my kitchen for hours on end to cook mediocre food and go out to eat mediocre food anymore. Here's the deal. If you go out to a fabulous restaurant with a well known Chef, your meal for ONE person is going to cost about $50 plus tax, plus gratuity. Two people is over $100 these days! We were eating out every weekend and spending hundreds of dollars to do so and then a couple hundred more for me to try and find something easy to fix and eat during the week. I ended up eating nothing but salads. Did I lose weight or get any healthier? No. 3 months of salads only messed up my digestion and I lost many important vitamins and minerals a varied diet provides. If you're looking for the cheapest way to live on a shoe string, this isn't it. While economical, it's not dirt cheap. However, with that being said, to get CHEF PREPARED MEALS that don't break the bank and that satisfy you...THIS is the way to go. I'd rather spend $177 a week for chef prepared meals (12) with a few more expensive specialty ones thrown in there than go out to eat all the time, waste the gas, time and money. It would cost us over $200 a week for food for a week at home to eat well anyways and that doesn't cover the cleanup, electricity or time sweating over a stove myself. Weigh your options. If you like to eat out often, but don't like cooking...get a smaller delivery. You can't go wrong with at least trying them. I did and I'm a believer and patron of Cook Unity now! They may have taken a while to work out all the bugs in the system like the ordering, the containers, the packaging, the delivery system that works the best, how best to keep your meals cooled on its way to you, etc. BUT and here's the really big thing I love about Cook Unity. THEY HAVE THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYWHERE of ANY service I've ever tried, PERIOD. While they can't reship to you anything that may have been damaged in handling, they WILL AND DO make it right. So all these other reviews with popped open containers and everything...ignore that. I've only come across that problem maybe twice in all this time of ordering from them. They recommend you don't eat those meals just for safety's sake, but if you call or text them, they answer immediately and make it right.Handling and processing by UPS means there's probably a chance it'll be not handled in the appropriate manner occasionally, but like I said before. They will and DO make it right. They'll credit your account for that meal so you won't feel bad about throwing it away if you choose to do so. What have you got to lose? Updating my review to reflect a string of negative experiences with CookUnity's deliveries and customer support. Multiple orders have arrived without ice packs or with ice packs that were completely melted, rendering our meals inedible. In addition, the CookUnity team, which was once responsive via their Live Chat, is no longer offering Live Support and doesn't appear to be responding to emails to their support channel. There are far too many other great meal delivery companies out there. If good food that arrives in a safe and edible condition is important to you, I would encourage you to consider alternatives. read more

Terrible first-time experience. Ordered six vegan meals for my elderly father; and pork tacos arrived. I'm not sure how that mistake was made. Poor dad can't even eat the stuff that arrived. Contacting customer service was equally frustrating, wading through repetitive AI assistant prompts, trying to reach a live person.
