Rented a 40x60 tent to fit on my tennis court. When things did not go as planned the tent had to be moved to a different location. Meanwhile when making the decision where to move the tent the owner Brad Cook was screaming and yelling. Littering in my yard throwing his styrofoam cup lid and straw in my yard leaving my 15 years old to pick up his garbage also throwing his measuring tape in my garden. I have never seen a man more disrespectful to a woman by using the F- bomb on numerous occasions and saying your husband must not know how to use a measuring tape. Then he screamed pack this shit up we are leaving. He did not care for a second that we have a wedding in 2 days to get ready for. This is a man that has his customer in tears to the point his helpers said stay clear of him. This is how he is. He will pack up everything and leave leaving you with nothing for your wedding. So in other words suck it up let him treat you disrespectful till the job is done. Never ever will I rent from them! I called my wedding planner explaining what was going on with the tent and she knew who it was without me even telling her who it was rented from. A little respect goes a long way and this guy does not have any. Good luck if you rent from them!! Update after picking up the tent he tells me he is working on his bad attitude he just does not do will with stupid customers and won't charge me extra for not putting each chair (90 total) individually in bags. He says to take that money and get my ugly fingernails done. I used Cook Party Rentals for my niece's wedding celebration which was an outdoor event on a farm. We rented a big tent, chairs, tables, dance floor, linens, etc. They were easy to work with from the beginning and flexible when we changed the order a couple of times. These guys helped me make a last minute party for 150 guests... in 4 days! We rented a 40' by 60' tent with walls, 25 tables, 125 chairs & table linens. We had a flawless set up & tear down, the equipment was in great condition & the linens looked brand new. Brad was extremely helpful and prompt in his communications from the beginning. He not only beat all competitors prices, but he also provided the best customer service I've ever had with a rental company. The office manager, Nikki, had a "yes" attitude from the first phone call & was a pleasure to work with. I could not recommend Cook Party Rentals enough! They are very difficult to deal with. They were three days late delivering the rental tents and changed the pickup time after and pickup time was already agreed to. Brad is unprofessional in his interactions with customers and quickly gets aggressive and borderline hostile. They are poor to deal with over the phone. I do not recommend using them. read more

I placed my rental order of chairs with office staff for a Friday delivery for an event I have on Saturday. I got a call from their delivery driver named Brad to let me know he couldn't guarantee a Friday delivery anymore. I expressed to him I had taken work off on Friday to accept the delivery and had told him I'd like to give him the payment (they only accept cash) in person as well as count the chairs to verify quantities were correct at time of delivery. Brad got extremely disrespectful with me upon that request and said "If that's the case take your business elsewhere.. I don't have time for you to nit pick each chair when I deliver." Even though I just wanted to verify quantities and make sure a CASH payment was received as their would be no paper trail of payment. Will never consider using this company again. read more

I used Cook Party Rentals for tables and chairs for my wedding. I had reserved these months before the event. It was an outdoor tent reception and there were a lot of vendors to coordinate. I had received the guidelines that stated delivery would be 1-3 days in advance and pickup would be 1-2 days after my event. I requested that delivery be Thursday (2 days before the event) and pick up be Monday (2 days after the event). The office staff was wonderful with answering the phone, getting quotes back to me, and keeping track of my information. She assured to me that with the amount of time ahead that I booked these, those days should not be an issue. All was going well until I began to deal with the delivery man, Matt I believe. He called me Sunday (6 days before the event) stating that he would be there tomorrow morning to drop everything off because they are too busy to deliver them Thursday. He said we needed to have storage space as they cannot be in the weather. Thankfully, my husband is a farmer and we had enough shed storage somewhere away from the reception site. He left us his trailer so that we did not have to unload everything multiple times at multiple sites, which I thought was rather nice at the time. At such a short notice, I had to work, was unavailable Monday, and gave him my husband's number in case he needed to contact him. I will say that the chairs were in good quality. They were beautiful, dark wood chairs. Flash forward to Sunday, the morning after the wedding. Matt texts my husband that they will be there in an hour to pick up our load. My husband's name was nowhere on the reservation, Matt did not know his last name, and should not have been the person of contact. I called Matt and explained that we were contracted with the florist and the decorator and she would be there that afternoon to clean everything up and that our tables and chairs weren't scheduled for pick-up until tomorrow. He told me "Well we are coming and we will be there soon. You will either get there and move all of your belongings, or we will get there, move your belongings for you and you won't like it, and leave you a bill for all of it." He had the worst customer service I had ever experienced. He did not care that we were in a contract and was not caring in the slightest about another vendor's belongings. He was straight rude and degrading. I told him I had arranged this with the office. His reply was "The office doesn't deal with this. I deal with this and I control it." He proceeded to text me their guidelines with the day ranges highlighted that I was already well aware of. If they were going to change my pickup dates and times, a phone call would've helped tremendously for planning. I talked to the same office girl for months. I did not know Matt existed until the Sunday before the wedding. So we wake everyone up and get everyone over to the tent to start a mass cleanup, after ok-ing it with the florist to breach contract due to circumstances. This is an outside reception, on private property, and it is pouring rain. Things are a deep muddy mess. My dad (property owner) calls Matt and explains that there is no way he is going to pull a trailer up to/away from the tent. While we are cleaning, we hear the roar of a truck trying to drive up. They arrive in a 2 wheel drive pickup truck and attempted to drive through the lowest point on the property, subsequently burying their truck. My husband had to use his diesel pickup to pull their truck out, and then use his truck to attach to the trailer. All of our men (7-8) helped load every table and chair. It was so muddy a 4 wheel drive diesel farm truck could not pull the trailer out. Our other friends had to get their diesel 4 wheel drive truck to pull our truck and trailer out. The rest of the tables were loaded using our personal UTV. If anything, I should be sending them a bill for use of 2 pickup trucks with hitches, and side by sides, along with the labor of 8 men and a flat fee for pulling them out like they would've had if they had to call a towing company. Their way of doing business is HORRIBLE. No bride should be woken up the next morning with that nightmare, especially when you take the time to arrange dates and pay that much for table and chair rentals. On a Sunday morning, on a holiday. Regardless of your event, Matt should not be allowed to interact with customers. It would not fly at any other company or job. No warning was given to us that this could be a consequence, or I would have not made this arrangement with them. I rented a tent for a Renaissance fair since I was not going to have room in my truck to bring my own. I arranged for the tent well in advance and was quoted a price of $300 for said tent. I specifically stated that I needed a tent with side walls when I reserved the tent and they said no problem. I call the day before I need to be at the site to verify everything and discover that the person in the office didn't record that I wanted a tent with side wall so yes the tent I have rented is up but there are no walls. Not only did they want me to pay an additional $75 to get the walls but they wanted me to come to their office pick them up myself. Part of the rental fee is to cover the labor of putting the tent up and delivering it to the site for set up. Now because of a mistake on their part I am expected to go pick them up and install them myself this after I explained that part of the reason I rented the tent is because I knew my truck would be jammed packed with inventory, tables and clothing racks and that I would have no room for my own tent. I explained that literally my truck with it's topper is packed floor to ceiling including the back seat. I had room for a driver but that's it. Of course I could unload my truck enough to go get them but I have one day to set everything up before the fair opens and A. I don't have time to go find this place, get the walls and put them up after all that's what I paid them for and B. This would require me leaving my inventory and other items in a tent that is exposed to the elements and possible thieves and it's supposed to rain. I called the office before I left home after the person there who BTW said she was the only one in the office would try to make arrangements to get them out there to see if the walls were there. After another lady answered the phone and put me on hold for over 5 minutes the original "only one in the office" lady came on and said "I had walls" but I would need to come by the office on my way in and pay for them. Since I was arriving in the area the night before to get my RV set up at a local campground when they would be closed I chose to wait until the following day. Since the office ended up being on the other end of the city from the fair site I went there first to verify I actually had walls before I would travel across town to pay for them. There were no walls on site and this seems to have been a carefully worded way of lying to me to get me to come there to pick them up. The very nice and understanding lady at the Renaissance fair who had been renting huge tents and spending a lot of money with this company for a few years called them for me and finally got them to send someone out with the walls. The man arrived and dropped the walls on the ground with a couple of skeins of rope, informed me that he didn't put things up and that I would have to install them myself. I was understandably very upset at this point and while not apologizing for the bad service I had received he did waive the $75 extra fee for the walls, told me to find others that were working at the fair to help me put them up and left. The walls were also not the right ones for this tent and were about a foot too short as well. The lady from the fair was wonderful and helped me find people who could help me put them up and even provided zip ties to hold the ropes up which would have sagged horribly without the ties. They saved the day for me. Cooks was horrible. I understand people making mistakes but as a business person myself when I screw up I bend over backward to make it right and make the customer happy. I was willing to pay the extra $75 just to have the walls even though I think it's wrong to add money after the fact. I should not have had to do this or install them myself when part of the fee I was paying was for installation. Since they didn't install the walls he wasn't really doing me any favors by waiving the extra fee. BTW, I have rented tents from other companies in Illinois, Indiana and Florida. This companies rates in addition to the poor service were $100 more than rates I've paid elsewhere for a larger tent than what I was renting from them. I called them in the first place because they were the company the fair used for their tents and usually because they are already there setting things up for the fair other places I have rented from offered better deals. Never again with theses folks. Not recommended at all. read more
