This is a review for their milkshakes! I was happy to find that Auburn has a cookout, because I used to go with friends when I was in school in Rome, GA. Their milkshakes are better than Steak n Shake milkshakes. My favorite is the peach cobbler! It has pieces of peach and bits of (what I think is) vanilla wafers that give it that sweet cobbler taste. Also it's a good deal if you get a meal and add on a shake for a dollar or two. I don't ever order the food - it's a really good deal for the price, but it's not the highest quality imo. So we went here when barely anyone was in the restaurants and they had several employees working. The girl behind the counter kept asking us to repeat our order, making forceful suggestions other than what we ordered, and she really didn't know what was going on and just stood there staring at us. After 20 .minutes of repeating and arguing our order I paid. When we got our food, it was wrong. One order was wrong, the floats weren't floats, Instead they were a cup of ice cream with less than an ounce of soda floating on top of the white mountain of vanilla. I work at the Quality Inn next door and this place is a godsend! I love getting something from here before I head into night shift. The cookout style burger with cheese is amazing. The hush puppies are always fresh and the peanut butter chocolate milkshake is my all time favorite. The food was good and a good value but that's where the good stops. All the tables were dirty for the 45 minutes we were there no-one cleaned the dinning room. We ordered a chocolate shake and it was so blonde there was more chocolate in the Oreo shake we got. My wife took the chocolate shake back to the manager on duty and he said that was chocolate as chocolate gets. Really? Poor people skills, customer service from this manager. Great food, great service. My fiance and I ordered our food and pulled around to pay ($14.82). We got to the window only to find out they don't take American Express. I told the employee, Sabrinah, who was working the window, Id go get some money from the ATM. She turned to hand me my card and then she said, "I'll just ask my manager cole to use my employee card and I'll pay for it myself." Cole put in her number and we got our food and left. I was very appreciative but a little speechless that someone working very hard for close to minimum wage would just pay for our meal without hesitation. Our food was good, especially considering how inexpensive it is. I had a combo with two bacon cheddar hot dogs, fries, onion rings, and a drink. You could taste that the hot dog was grilled and had a little bit of char on it, and the bacon on top was very well cooked and tasty. The cheddar was actually a cheese sauce, not shredded or sliced cheese. I liked the fries, but the onion rings weren't the best. They were still acceptable, though. Worst excuse for customer service I have ever seen! VERY long story short... After waiting an hour for our food (which apparently is a typical issue) and patiently asking about it twice, we finally asked for our money back so we could go elsewhere. At that point the manager on duty, Delilah, hesitated before giving our money back claiming we didn't have a receipt (we had given our receipt to another employee when inquiring about our order). At no point did she apologize. Instead of trying to make things right, she argued with us. She wouldn't provide her name or the owners' names. I have never experienced anyone in a customer service position (especially a manager) as rude, inappropriate, and combative as she was. We will never return to eat and we have plans to return during working hours to speak directly with the owner. I kind of expected it to be another McDonald's but it was a lot cleaner, looked very nice and neat, and the food was amazing for how fast they made it. 10 years ago I tried this place in Charlotte n.c. The hamburgers have a fresh charcoal flavor. The best you can get from a fast food restaurant. What amazed me was their $4.99 menu. I ordered a 1/4 pound hamburger, onion rings, cup of chili and sweet tea. There are many other options to choose from. The star to me was the chili. A unique flavor. During this past weekend, I accompanied a large group of high school students and some staff members to Cook Out for lunch as part of a summer camp that the organization I work for has been hosting for the past week and a half. To be honest, I was pretty nervous that it was going to be a huge hassle to get everyone's orders put in, pay for them, and get everyone's food out in time. Plus, the order was supposed to be tax exempt. However, I was completely wrong (in the best way possible). Cole, the manager of the restaurant, was beyond helpful in setting up the order to be tax exempt very quickly in addition to bringing out everyone's food just minutes after we ordered--please note that he took the effort to do this all on his own. These orders included many, many different types of food and milkshakes (which are possible to order because of Cook Out's extensive and affordable menu), and he made sure to get everyone's, about 25 people's, correct orders to them showing a great deal of patience and excellent customer service. Don't come late or they are the slowest people in the world. I question if the staff has an iq high enough to work the drive thru. Took me over 45 minutes to get a shake when I was 3 cars from window. I sat at the window after i paid waiting for my shake for atleast 20 minutes and never saw the lady working the window again. Who knows maybe she died while trying to make my shake. Finally after 30 minutes post pay she comes back to the window to ask what I ordered. I'm disappointed and won't be coming back. When she hands me my shake she forgets a spoon and/or straw and when I asked for them she was genuinely confused. If I could give 0 stars I would.
