Stay away from this company. We used them to board up after a fire on Sunday, August 1st, 2010. Read on: My apartment was wet and smelled heavily of smoke when I returned after the fire, so I tried to sleep on the patio. The mosquitos were ravenous and bit the hell out of me. Sometime past midnight, I saw the top of a white van pull up next to my fence. A mexican fellow in a blue shirt got out, jumped over the fence and into the courtyard. He saw me and I asked "What the hell are you doing jumping over my fence at midnight" He blurted out that he boarded up the place earlier and that the owner asked him to come by and check the building. I said "What, at midnight?" I then asked him what time they did the board up, he said around 10 pm. I was very suspicious and told him to leave. He gave me his card from "Cook County Board Up". I called the number on the card hoping to get a manager, but some young dude came on the line. I told him about the criminal trespass and he began apologizing profusely. Realizing then that they were there to break in and steal my shit, I called the police. They showed a few minutes later in the alley and I explained the situation. They didn't take a report saying that there wasn't much they could do and left. (I figure the reason they call it "Cook County Board Up" is that most of the employees have been in Cook County Jail.) I talked with the owner of the building and she told me that she did not ask them to return to check on anything. read more
